if anyone here is from the phillippines, dont buy elixirs from Lyric music store. They sell fake elixirs and the elixirs they have doesnt have any coating at all. elixir strings should be very very smooth when you slide. the feeling is very unique to the originals

I bought some Elixir polyweb strings from Musicroom in Lincoln a few months ago, and they were in Polyweb package, with Polyweb written on the front of each individual string paper wrap, but on the rear it said Nanoweb. The actual strings were Nanoweb. So, wrongly packaged, and mis-rinted paper sleeves, although I think they were genuine Elixers, just not Polywebs.

That's interesting, are you SURE they are nanoweb ? Can you see the nanoweb coating ? If you examine the string really really carefully, you should be able to see it.

Well, I took them back to the shop, because I knew they were not Polyweb, and I have never bought Nanoweb so I would not recognise them. The shop staff noticed the 'Nanoweb' on the rear of the paper insert for the .052 string, and then looked carefully at the actual string, and it was her who confirmed that the string was in fact a Nanoweb. I just knew it was not a Polyweb, because it was a completely different colour (darker bronze) and felt rough compared to my old Polywebs. To be honest, it did not feel like it had much of a coating on at all, but previously to Elixers, I only used normal standard uncoated Martins etc. It said Polyweb on the cardboard main packaging, and it also said Polyweb on the FRONT of each wound paper sleeve for the strings. It was only the rear of the paper sleeve which said Nanoweb lol !

One thing we can be certain of. If your strings are bought off of eBay and come from China they are absolutely fake. And then people write reviews saying that Elixir strings are no good because they bought fake ones.
Watch this video and learn the difference.

cyberbob19, thanks for the comment. Elixir strings are very different from all other strings, quite easy to tell the difference, its too bad that there are such dishonest people in the world. I have contacted Elixir to let them know about the problem, but there isnt a whole lot they can do about it.

I got 6 packs at about $6.50 USD each. All are the same useless cheap strings, dirty, poorly packed and of no value. They will not even stay in tune. Buy only USA Elixirs

I think I have tried those before, not coated like the Elixir polyweb though. Elixir Polyweb is the only strong that comes with an actual physical barrier between the string and the player...all the reast of the market for coated strings are just treating their string with some anti corrosion agent before they wind the string...I am convinced that is what is happening. That being said, I have heard good things about EXP's and might give them a whirl in the near future ;)
