I have a 2002 Aspen White WRX with a STi wing. I blew the engine in December 2012. I had just bought a house and was planning a wedding so the WRX got pushed into the garage. In 2019 I bought a 2009 Forester X. The plan was to drive that while finally working on the WRX. Started modding the Forester. Meanwhile I have a table full of parts to go on the WRX. Hopefully she will be back on the road in April 2025.
I’m fixing an aspen white with Sti wing as well! It was 207 swapped with a super fresh motor but it seems like they messed up the head gasket install because she slightly leaks under boost!
@warnfreezer As long as it still has an OEM tank. The aftermarket tanks for the GD chassis from Spectra Premium, Dorman etc do not have drains, but they are also half the price of the OEM tank.
The two upgrades this car absolutely needs, and will be greatly improved by, are the Version 8 rear ventilated disc brakes with the two-pot Brembo/Subaru calipers. You'll need the Version 8 hubs as well. Then install a Cusco Brake Master Cylinder Brace, because the firewall is very thin, and when you gouge on the brakes, the firewall flexes, making the pedal feel soggy. Once installed, and with the V8 rear brakes, you'll have a car which stops and feels like a Porsche 911 under braking. Massive difference from the factory feel. Oh, and never fit drilled rotors - only slotted ones. You can thank me later!
Can you come to england and repair my rusty forester s turbo😀 its in the garage and i haven't opened it for almost three years. I cant bring myself to scrap it. getting rare now..
@@scoobysean555 I can weld, but can't get the forester up by my home. And our weather is rubbish most of the time, plus rents on small industrial units here are expensive.
Definitely an unusual scenario, It appears it was oiled inside the panels at some point. Has rust proofing holes drilled all inside the cars door jambs. Ya it was honestly better then most rocker repairs/inquiries I normally see with respect to condition. Since this is a low budget job, normally id just replace whole rocker outer, but that would have taken 1/3 my of budget alone.
The province of Ontario uses more salt on the roads then the rest of our entire country. This is considered a good condition car compared to same year vehicles here😂 its truly heart breaking actually
@TheSubieSanctuary Subaru send them out the factory not very well protected. I got into Subaru's when I went to watch a special stage Rallye in my local county, Shropshire England, it was Colin McCrea in his 555 that did it. Popping and banging, still gives me goose bumps now almost thirty years later..
That’s why many northern guys come down to the south and south west to find older Subarus and other makes to purchase. Sure the heat and sun are hard on the paint down here but the rust is not an issue unless you’re close to the gulf or pacific coast.
@ rust is brutal here and some people make a living from bring clean southern cars over here. Dry paint would be an excellent trade off vs the corrosion we see here 🥲
@@TheLeeHao ah yes, it is called a “de scaler” its an attachment onto an air hammer. Such a great tool, they are cheap at harbour freight / princess auto
Awesome video! Wish you had made this one 2 years ago so I could stolen some of these techniques. What does it look like where the trailing arms and diff support mount?? For me, that was the hardest thing to deal with. Also, any bolts/ nuts from inside the frame snap off? Would love to see how you deal with that situation….
@@jefffaulds4210 where the trail arms mount are rock solid on this one. I had no bolts snap in the frame thus far! This car has been incredibly willing to be taken apart. I will say over the years, I have dealt with every weld nut possible snapping in the uni body, I have come up with a method for each type. Here and there you’ll see glimpses of my rectifying them in other vids.
@ if the bolts snapped, drill them out 🙏 if the nut spun, I cut a 3 sides access flap and stick a new nut in there and a real good tack weld on it, then close the flap and weld it back up. Welding the brackets is an option too, seen lots of cars come in with that done but I just really favour the oem look.
@@TheSubieSanctuaryI thought about the access hole idea, but then thought I was crazy for thinking that was a good idea! …. I will do that this weekend. Thanks for sharing .
Lots of appreciation for keeping the classic Subies alive! 👍👍

Great work great editing! Subie happy! 😁
this is awesome inspo for my rotted bugeye! just started the full tear down. Soon comes the grinding process. Great work as always!
Thanks brother, keep pushing through. Once you get to the reconstruction stage it starts to really feel good and the end becomes visible 🙌
today I learned that GD fuel tanks have a drain plug 🤦♀
Kinda sad they later got rid of the drains, makes it really annoying to drain tanks in the 08+ ones

pretty amazed that, considering just how rotted parts of those rockers are, that it was still solid near the rear jackstand point. That's crazy!
