Ricko Setiadi well we had an S 400 4MATIC Long (V222) before we changed to a Panamera 4S (971), and although I agree that the new S 450 is much faster, for a car that weighs more than 2 tonnes and only barely has 333HP (although the torque of 450Nm is impressive), 0-100km/h in 6.1 sec was pretty damn impressive. Moreover, there is a reason why most 6 cylinder engines are V and not inline. I can’t agree with you on that V6 sucks.
Impressive figures. I've also seen this on the MB webpage and can't say I understand it. What exactly does the " 367HP + 22HP " mean? At first I thought it meant there was an electric engine too, but no mention of it on the MB site.
The M256 engine has a 48 volts Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) motor that also operates an air electric air compressor on the cold side. This compressor (aka supercharger if you'd like) runs a max 6.6psi boost in around 0.3 secs giving 22hp (16kw, 162lbft) to help low end response before the larger twin scroll turbocharger kicks in at higher revs. Basically, the max hp on the 450 is 367hp at 5500 - 6100rpm.
Sounds just like a BMW I6. I'm kinda sad the V8 is being phased out though, it was a staple of the S-Class for years. So was the V12, they should've borrowed the new V12 from Aston Martin and put that into the new S for the 600 model. Would save R&D and it has the tech to be decently efficient.
The V8 is still around - in the S560 (4.0 V8 M176 engine, which is basically the mass-produced version of the AMG M177/178 engine, with around 470 PS).
+Tyler Beeson Borrow V12 from Aston Martin? Do you know that ''new'' 5.2L V12 turbo is still Ford's V12(6.0-5.9L Naturally aspirated engine) with shortend stroke and added 2 turbos?
Wrong, it's the inline 6 model, because of the EQ power/charge section below the tachometer. Plus, the uploader is based in Germany, where both S450 and S500 share the M256 inline 6 engine.
Decent speed, decent sound
When I watched the video I remember the E43 😍❤️
One Thing is for sure. With this acceleration, no one Needs a S560 any longer. 389hp is more than enough
Martin Bauer I'm shocked at the acceleration
that's why I love inline configuration engine, the old V6 in the S400 won't be able to do so. V engine sucks
Well the S 560 is V8, and reminds us of the legendary 560 SE(L) models... F-Segment cars are not only about performances, but rather prestige

S560 is still very desirable because you get V8 smoothness, and you can accelerate like this car but much more effortlessly
Wow reminds me of the last M104 straight sixes.. beautiful
yes that engine is a legend. inline 6 is my most favorite engine
Yes that engine is in my grand-father’s Ssangyong Chairman W100. It’s got the 2.8 litre variant, and it is very smooth, and has a unique sound!
the power of inline 6
Long live Inline 6!
How's the fuel consumption? And how does it fare compared to the S560 with the new 4.0 V8?
Will you be able to do a video of the coasting function
Is this a Tuner? Or mod ??
That’s quick for a moving apartment.

In Germany the S450 has the new I6 engine with electric boost while we in the US get the old V6 without electric boost

well not bad for 390hp and this size.
what does camera sign means in bottob side of dash?
I believe it means the car is looking for parking spots.
Impressive
What does it mean 367hp + 22hp?
22hp electric engine
Lukasz M thanks
Very little difference between S450, S500 and S560.. No more than 0,3 sec to 100 kph.. What's the point??
hp is important at higher speed.
That's right. Considering the fact that most countries have Speed Limits of 70 or 80 mph, it's not important anymore to have an 8 cylinder engine.

No i6 engine sounds better than the M103

It's a V6, The video description is incorrect.

V6 in the US (without electrical boost), inline six in Europe (with electrical boost). It's indeed confusing they're both called S450
I put an stop watch on my phone and it got 4.7 seconds to 100 kmh you lier
Quit fast being a big car. I would add 0,1 or 0,2 s as the spedometer shows 3 km/h less.
Audi S5 3.0TFSI 354HP is faster 0 - 100 4.7 0 - 200 17.2
