    Quality work. Suggestion, rub paraffin or canning wax on the bed slats where they make contact when opening or closing. The wood will much less friction. The wax is sold anywhere they sell canning jars and supplies. Good for sticky saw blades too.

    For a lot of quick easy sanding, use angle grinder and a sanding flapdisk. it saved me sooooooooooooo much time when i made a coffee table out of a pallet. just the bits that are going to be exposed need a gentler sander but for everything else, Angle grinder :D

    Use some bees wax in between each bed slat to slid better. Wood box style pull outs with felt bottoms, just add a bull nose trim piece to keep it from sliding out while moving. Easy to lift the box over the lip of the bull nose.

      @HughTube  6 лет назад

      Currently looking at Roll-up slats base supporting an airbed .. maybe ? depends if the airbed is comfortable enough ? New RV campers have beds that slide down from the ceiling .. great use of space but limits head room.

    I bought a large white trunk to store my infant niece’s stuff in ruclips.net/user/postUgkxNuLbiXpLQ-mKH5NlyjrNe88hiCk2N3Cg , as she comes to my house frequently. For now, it’s toys on one side and diapers, wipes, and other baby care items on the other. As she gets older, it will be all toys. I had originally wanted a trunk with a hinged lid, but I was afraid of her smashing or pinching her fingers in it. This will be a much safer option. The lid has great padding in it and it is actually nice to sit on. It feels very sturdy and secure. Looks like it can be wiped clean easily. If it gets abused by her, I won’t be terribly upset because I paid less than $50 for it on Prime Day.

    Hi Hugh. What size baterns did u use for the bed frame? I just bought some 2x2 but I'm worried it's a bit too thick? Thanks pal

    • @HughTube
      @HughTube  6 лет назад

      The only worry about going too thick is weight but 2X2 is very close to what I used. I bought in 44mm X 44mm

  • @wiggleworm100

    My question is is about the mattress you are using with that.

    • @wiggleworm100
      @wiggleworm100 3 года назад +1

      Like how do you set up your mattress and or make it for when it’s pushed in.

    • @HughTube
      @HughTube  3 года назад

      So the easiest way for me was to get a foam mattress that i could cut to the shape on the main L sofa. The offcut then was used on the pull out part. you can wrap the foam in covers and when I just had a double sheet on all the time so that when in sofa mode i tucked the excess under the mattress

    You don't seem to drill any pilot holes when you screw in, are you not worried about the wood splitting?

    • @HughTube

      Usually I would drill pilot holes but in certain situations based on grain direction and wood thickness I can usually get away with not doing it.

    I think I have came up with a super simple new bed set up that could be a HUGE game changer when it comes to van builds. It is the best of both worlds. And let's every hight of person sleep laying straight and allows a huge amount of space to open up.. honestly it's so simple I cant belive I didnt think of it sooner. You people want to know what my concept is, let me know and I'll share if not I'll just make it for my van when I finally start a build. and then make a video to show everyone my one of a kind van. But I have never seen or heard of anyone doing my concept.
