Just remember that 2(-1) = 0.5 and when you get the next number that is
2(-2) => 0.5*0.5 = 0.25 and again
2(-3) => 0.5*0.5*0.5 =0.125 and again
2(-4)=> 0.5*0.5*0.5*0.5 = 0.0625 and the rest goes on

Use your calculator for multiplying.
Eg. 2 to the power -3 is the same as 1 divided by 2 to the power 3.
Which is then 1 divided by 8.
1 divided by 8 is 0.125 if you use your calculator .

So, let me explain please!!
In the first example :
2 to the power -1 = 1/2 and since 1 is not divided by two, there will be a point. And a zero will appear right next to the one. Which is divisible by 2 as 10/2 = 5. Therefore 1/2 = . 5 or 0.5
