Randy the drummer wrote this song after his family was harassed by immigration officers. Randy is of american descent living in mexico since he was young
I found this band's album in a black market when I was staying in Mexico. I can't believe you're reacting to this. Thanks for bringing back all the memories from that time.
I don't even remember what I typed to stumble across this. I remember seeing this video on a music channel twenty years ago when I was channel surfing after watching some lucha libre. Had a nostalgia flood when I saw this.
DANCE AND DENSE DENSO
I haven't seen anyone comment on this yet but the chorus is like a dialogue between the two sides; the American side "don't call me gringo you beaner" and the Mexican side "don't call me beaner you jerkoff". Another interesting thing is how everything is pronounced in the first verse you wouldn't be able to tell if you don't speak Spanish but the whole thing is spoken with the "gringo accent"
Dude, when you said, "I've been eating alot of beans I might be a beaner" you had me laughing! But, no, no you aren't. It's a slur for us. I haven't been called that in 20 yrs but it never stung too bad, it's more stupid funny than anything.
It would be the same if we said nigg*er, but we mexicans arent that victimistic
shut up you wall jumper
u havent been called a beaner because mexican people are not idiots, they didnt give ultra power to that word the way black americans did with the N word, so beaner died by itself.
I get more triggered with latino or latinx tbh
"I wanna see if I can find a clean version" bruh that was the clean version lmao
Not really
Sporify
I do speak some Spanish, and I heard this song years ago. If I remember correctly, the last two lines of the chorus are:
"No llames me frijolero
Pinche gringo pun~atero"
Which, roughly translates to:
"Don't call me beaner
F*cking redneck b*tch."
@@1BRTGongdepends on how you use the words, they tend to have different meanings based on that.
Molotov is our national treasure, they got crazy ass lyrical talent, bunch of albur as we like to call it in Mexico City
I moved from the United States to Mexico over three years ago and love this song, I know what it's about but it's still a good message.
Molotov is like RATM in being anti-establishment in their often shocking lyrics while leveraging modern rock, rap and very traditional Mexican beats and instrumentation. They've always been fearless in how non-politically correct and not radio safe their songs are; when they started in the 90's they were a voice for disenfranchised (and some enfranchised) youth, going against established (and polished) Top 40's pop bands in Mexico and Central America.
"Gringo" is a portmanteau of "Green" and "Go", originally a call out to US Military/Border Patrol officers, from back in the early 1900's referring to said officers' Green Uniforms and people telling them to Go away. With time it became the go-to expletive to anti-migrant US citizens, and in time a jeer mostly to Anglo-Americans.
The word "gringo" does have a military origin, it comes during the Mexican-American War of 1846-1848 when the US Army began to wear the green uniform that was the uniform The US army used it to deceive the Mexican army, so the Mexicans began to yell "false green" which is where Gringo was born.
As someone from latinamerica Its weird seeing people from usa reacting to a song that says bad things abt them
It doesn't say bad things about people from the US, it speaks about racists
@@ElGuayoyeah... Lots of racist countries would be Mexico if not for Santa Anna.
In the truck they also have another man handcuffed in reference to Santa Anna since during the US war they caught him asleep and made him sign to end the Mexican war, his signature or his blood would remain on the paper and he handed over the states that the US wanted to take over.
They don’t catch him asleep, they caught him with his pants down after he succumbed to the yellow rose of Texas (i.e. a prostitute).
Man I can't remember the last time I heard this song. Definitely a classic. Brings back memories from when I first heard it when I was a kid .
"Beaner", or "Frijolero" in spanish, is actually a slur that racist Americans use against Mexicans.
Whaaaaaat a good song , and understanding the two languages makes it so fun 😂
Hi.
Just to clarify, when they say "gringo" it means "estadounidense", citizen of United States.
That's how we call people from US in almost all Latin American countries in non formal environments. Sometimes even formal. "Estadounidense" is too long, but that's the official way.
At least in my country, "gringo" is not derogatory, unless you add insults, like in the song.
Also, in my country, Chile, every single person from the US is gringo, is a nationality thing, not a race or ethnicity, but of course in this Mexican song is aimed to certain type of gringos, the xenophobic, racists ones against Mexicans.
Cheers.
Gringo/a, simple.
My man, you should check out a few more songs of this band, what I would recommend the most are the live versions of the Mtv Unplugged: Hit Me (ft. Anita Tijoux a Chilean rapper), Here We Kum, and most importantly, Gimme Tha Power, that one is like a second anthem down here in México. I also recommend other fun songs like Amateur and Yofo.
Underrated band. Molotov is amazing bro
Im Mexican and never heard of the band until my friend from Mexico who came to the usa let me lsiten to it and i was just like wooow haha
oh so you are not mexican
One of my favorite band I’ve ever been introduced to 20 years ago
And yes is Randy he is north american
Hey Polo, another great video and commentary. With that said, I have one for you to check out, Rainbow's Stargazer (live version). Since you have reacted to a few of the greatest band of all-time, Iron Maiden's videos, you should hear Ronnie James Dio. This is the singer that Bruce Dickenson credits for his style. A bit of history, Rainbow was considered a supergroup founded by Richie Blackmore of Deep Purple in the mid-seventies, who then hired Ronnie from the band Elf. In my opinion, the five-foot-four-inch-tall Ronnie had (passed away in 2010) the biggest and greatest voice in Rock. Anyway, keep the reactions coming.
I love your voice, cheers from Colombia.
Just found your page, love your reactions!
I'm a young 58yo ladie that loves music in soo many genres, but mostly rock.
A band to react to is the german band Rammstein and the song Du Hast. I saw them live with my 30 year younger daughter 14 ys ago in Malmö, Sweden.
I'm a Mexican American...that grew up listening to old school punk bands like Bad Brains, Misfits, and Black Flag and never understood Molotov, until I first heard this song in MTV back in the 2000 during the Bush and Fox Administrations. The tempo cadence you refer to that is catchy and laid back beat typically found in classic punk music and surprisingly combines amazingly with that Mexican accordiong riff vibe.
He is not George W. Bush, he is a former president of Mexico Vicente Fox and Carlos Salinas de Gortari also a former president of Mexico
It is George Bush, its Bush, Fox and Salinas check out the video and look closely
Pero el que esta al lado de fox si es bush
Si es Bush y el expresidente Fox. El otro es Dick Cheney
es verdad, si es bush
Fre-ho-le-ro. J is pronounced h in Spanish and LL is pronounced H in Spanish. I'm married to a Mexican, so I understand a little. Fell free to correct me if I'm wrong.
LL is a Y. H is silent. J is an H
This song is a classic.
Love the stuff you do. Molotov is also the first Band I went crowd surfing to😊
I've been to Cancun in Mexico on holiday once. It's my only time on the US side of the planet. It was awesome. I found their debut album on my first full day exploring the new shops in the malls. The only headphones in the little CD store were in use, so the owner put it on the shop speakers. INSTANTLY I knew this album, and band were my kinda music. They're a blend of Rage Against The Machine and The Beastie Boys, with a Mexican / Spanish / Latin flair. They're all Bilingual. They're all multi-instrumentalists. They switch instruments a few times during each concert......oh yeah, they KICK ASS live. They're a well-oiled machine.
My boss called it, mexican polka. And as a mexican i agree. Listen to polka(from Germany), striking similarities.
I looooove, Molotov! ❤
Had an ex of mine listen to this for me. Says it isn't saying a whole lot of nice stuff about the US. He thought what they sang is hilarious. Maybe not so hilarious to US folks. Looked up the translation myself. He is right. Still hilarious.
Hell yeah Polo.
Molotov…a classic
Let’s go polo!
Fantastic story brother, im pretty sure you "showed her what you got".. hope she finds this reaction somehow..
The artistry and animation for the video is seriously good, the song itself is very traditional.. I visited Toluca, Guadalajara and Oaxaca many years ago looking for old shantytowns, I've never drank so much mezcal and tequila in my life, the people were insanely awesome...and the music was incredible.
If your kid sang that part to me I couldn’t be offended
Feejalero thats a new one
It took me this many years to finally realize that those mountains are tits lol😅
You have to take a look at the lyrics, if you have the time also checkout Gimme that power and hit me by Molotov
Would love to see a reaction video for Dan Vasc singing Amazing Grace. He’s a metal singer from Brazil.
Renaissance, Can You Hear Me
y u don't put the translation in spanish parts
Me gustó tu reacción gracias
you can translate the lyrics in google, the lyrics are great and is deep, you should review the lyrics too.
Yeah, actually is kind of "Mexican Rage against the machine"
Nope; this song is totally against racist americans! (Not all of the american of course)
Keane, Somewhere I Belong
Sergio Mendes, Magic Lady full lp
Molotov was kind of like punk Texana.
voto latino de Molotov
Jajaj, cuando aparece (censored).
What’s your first name? Is it just Polo or is that short for something
love how you just say the slurs (b*aner and w*tback)... lol... ignorance is bliss i guess... he sounds like he smoked a ton of w**d cause he's mocking the US accent in spanish
I love when you finally understand the message of this song; and when George Bush image, appears...Haaaahaha😂
I hate when people from different race have a problem stereotyping my paisanos …
You should get the lyrics in spanish. You would love the song more
He said he read the lyrics more than once before listening the song.
accordion
harmonica 🤣
Angels Bofill, Angie full lp
Its an anti immigrant song. How the US. Doesn't want immigrants, Mexicans, in this instance particularly. I would suggest looking up the lyrics.
6:23 de hecho sí, Vicente Fox = George Bush
React to Zoe - Labios Rotos, please
Wang Chung, Space Junk
Este gringo no entendió la canción 😂😂😂😂
bro longest intro ever hahahahah wtf
depends
rage agaist the machine is the united state version of molotov lol!!
A ningún otro país ,
GRINGOS
Okay it's been three minutes I don't wanna hear it no more...😅
george bush

MAGA 2024!
I just threw up my taco...
This is a classic
