    Interesting...I inherited my fathers coin collection (he started in1950) ten years ago after his passing. I have yet to go through the thousands of coins and notes he had put into blue sleeves and/or wrapped in silk and cotton handkerchiefs, rolls, folders etc... in a custom locked wooden box he made just for his collection!. I think it's time for me to inventory this stuff. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise.

    Thanks BlueRidge for another great video. Pocket change finds are what got me into the hobby and still keep me in it over 40 years later. Acquiring those rare coins from a dealer is okay but to me nothing beats the thrill of getting your hands dirty, going through lots of coins and finding "hidden treasure" yourself. See ya in the next one.

    I actually found one of these in a alley underneath a chip bag the story is crazy I put it up not knowing until 4 months later when I started actually researching and studying coins. So I went back to my piggy bank and found the quarter again through a years worth of change and noticed I actually had a thin rim 1970 its really an exciting find.

Thanks in advance for any input you'd care to make regarding the few cherry-picked coins from a collection of maybe 3,000 wheaties and assorted others...or the reverse clad only of a buffalo nickel...no middle or obverse.

    Nice report Shawn a couple of items I didn't know about. My biggest problem where I live is all banking is being done outside through the drive thru, no one allowed in accept by appointment for bank business,and they don't consider by rolls of change business and they can't send rolls through the system they have banking from your car. So no rolls in my area. Are others finding problems getting rolls also?

    I have been trying to find if the Mark's on the 1979 SBA I have were genuine. They are like the "earring" mark on the quarter. Only there are 2 right next to each other. I have collected 3 similar coins. Been making me nuts. I need to have them examined. Pretty cool that I watched this video. I'm a newbie and have become obsessed. Been trying to learn. Still not sure of all the colorings? I have a lot of red pennies. Have even more of the brown/copper looking ones. Oh & I'm pretty sure I have a 1939 Henning I think it's called? It has no mark. It looks kind of pocked? It feels lighter, different. My 1941 has so many mistakes I need to write them down. I have h horrible penny that has a deep indentation in President Lincolns head. Then another that looks like Jeffersons forehead is growing a horn. That one looks like slag because on the back Montecello top is destroyed by an astoid. I have never examined my change before. Now I can't stop. I have I believe a one of a kind sacagawea. I saw similar ones yesterday on Utube but nothing exactly like mine. I have several nickels that the back's are about 10% - 15% rotated. It's a whole new world where the terminology is strange. Suppose I should buy a book. There's a whole lot for me to learn. I've watched about 60 hours of coin videos & instructions this last week alone. I'm going blind from squinting & checking out the coins on screen & going through the ones I had. I've used carelessly so much change over the years it's crazy. Never looked to hard. Guess it's never to late.

    Good Afternoon! I really really enjoyed this video! TY! I was wondering, however, what these coins could have sold for IF they had been graded or are they really not worth it to have them graded? I have seen some of the coins (especially the 1999 Wide AM variety) sell for a lot more money than what was had by selling on eBay. I have a couple of the coins as shown, bit in MS condition. Thank you, again, Shawn ~ Always appreciate your sharing your knowledge and providing excellent examples of each & every coin/bill! It makes it Soooo much easier to know what you are looking for & where to look. Looking forward to your next vid! Take care & have a great day!

    • @cuzimcute00

      It can cost anywhere from $20- 10% of the value to have a coin graded. If the coin won't sell for at least the cost of grading it, it's really not worth it. 🤷

    I work behind a cash register all day long. I accept coins and break open rolls of coin daily. During the past few weeks, every roll of dimes and quarters I break open I find that 75% of the coins are heavily damaged. I mean they look like they went into the garbage disposal under the sink. Dents, gouges, bents, badly worn. Every roll. Pennies and nickels are fine. Pennies are all new 2020’s. But dimes and quarters insanely damaged.

    Remember when looking at the wide AM and Close AM it’s not only the spread but the initials FG are the most important factor in determining the coin. I see to many people saying they have a wide am just because of the AM spread when that’s not the case.

    I collect avidly and have every dang book you can think of from red blue to strike it rich and other cherry pickers books,and I can’t ever find anything on two things prices are usually In books are VF, and ms65! But even my error books don’t show me why on the back of Lincoln memorial cents where it says United States of America it’s very common I find that The first “s”or states and the “Es”and the “of” is literally arresting gone with the naked eye but with a 5x mag or better yet 10x mag with lights on both you can see it look like grease error or light strike but idk how that would make sense if the rest of the words are very clear also I find that when read liberty on any older coin the L appears gone and it doesn’t appear slicked .

    Awesome video. Not too long. Enjoyed the exploration. Were there wide AM pennies in 1970’s? I definitely see the space. 1971 D for example. Was that common and then changed? I heard you say wide AM was 1999-2000. And have you seen a 1966 quarter with front die alignment off or double printed creating a second circle that cuts thru the Liberty letters and the date? I have one I noticed looking thru coins while listening to this video.

    How do you prevent from getting ripped off when sending coins / boxes of coins?

  • @samuelcorallo5148
    @samuelcorallo5148 3 года назад

    There is no coin shortage anymore. Banks will order whatever you want with one caveat, they don’t want them back at their branch. That is fair. I have a bank where I have built rapport with the cash manager. During the coin shortage, they we told to buy boxes of half dollars. Customers didn’t want them and they were taking up valuable coin budge. Over7 weeks, I eliminated the 7 boxes they had. Now, they call me if they get in coin rolls from their customers that aren’t roll hunters. My first call yielded 57 quarter rolls (from 3 customers) an 12 dime rolls. The first roll had a silver quarter. I have 37 rolls left and I have found some excellent coins. So take the time to build relationships....

    Shawn, excellent video! Thanks for sharing! I need to watch all your other videos. I was taking copious notes! Question: Would US Mint Proof Sets have some of these "errors" or "irregularities" in those coins also? Thank you!

    • @cuzimcute00
      @cuzimcute00 3 года назад

      Yes... proof sets have errors as well. They're actually struck harder and more times, so they could potentially have more errors in a batch than the ones intended for circulation. 😉

    Like that offset $1 bill, I have a $20 similar to it. But some idiot that had it before me, took the 20 strip out of it. It's the $20 design before the new ones.

      @@TheTrueSonOfFire don't take the chip in your hand or forehead for no reason. It will damn all who do. Revelation says all who do will go to hell. Please accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord now. Read Acts 2 . They all were baptized in Jesus Christ name emediately after accepting him as Lord. Trust in him and he will keep you. Don't panic if you lose your home or car. Let God help you. Because no one will be able to eat or get gas without the chip. Please pass this on.

    How the hell would that “doubled earlobe” occur? Doesn’t make sense that that would be the Only doubling on the entire obverse
