man, Texasville looks like a complete different film in b&w, just hits the right feels.
Totally agree. Its a completely different feel.
Both films are now available on R1 blu-ray from The Criterion Collection.
Funny how that happened 4 months after we posted it...
@@cinemaforce1 I was popping in to mention that. It now officially can be said to be better in b/w
I saw Texasville at 17 too---I got a lot more out of it today in Black and White. It is a perfect rumination on middle age. It is available on Blu Ray now via the Criterion collection.
Yes, it was very curious that the Criterion version came out 4 or 5 months after I posted this...
Just watched the Criterion and loved it -- because it is in black and white and feels like a perfect companion to the first film. Thank God I waited because I feel lucky to get its full impact. Looking back, I think it was the color sitcom-y marketing that kept me away (in my case, for many decades). Buy the Criterion bluray; you won't be sorry.
I made this way before they announced it. But I'll have to give it a shot.
I love both of these movies and know them extremely well and I could not agree more with your assessment. How they ever released Texasville without the last picture show being available for years, is still beyond me. And the black-and-white version, which I just finally saw, is really superior to the color
Thank. you. It took me forever to find that copy in France. Now its on Criterion of course....
Great video. I love that there’s now a Blueray box set that contains both Last Picture Show and Texasville. What a wonderful pair of films. It’s a crime that Texasville didn’t do better financially.
Funny how that cam together several months after this episode dropped isn't it? lol
Gotta see this
Now another movie I have to track down. I never knew this had a sequel with most of the main cast returning. Really cool.
Well Criterion is releasing a new edition of Last Picture Show soon and Texasville will be on the set. In a B&W version. Wonder where they came up with that idea...
@@cinemaforce1 Oh wow. That's crazy! Thanks for giving them the idea (even though I'm sure they would never give you credit for it).
when the world need him most, he returned!!!
serious, someone punch me so I can be sure I not dreaming!
Been a minute!
