- In today's Thailand travel vlog, we leave our hotel to sample some interesting and unexpected Thai street food at the Saturday Night Market in Chiang Rai.
The market exploded with people dancing, enjoying dinner, and catching up with friends as we shuffled through the isles, trying to decide what we wanted to eat for the evening.
Ashley opted for Thai sweet potato balls while Mike found a vendor selling fried pork with a savory sauce. Both snacks were delicious, so we continued until we found kanom tang Thai (cantaloupe cakes) and khao kriap pak mor.
Afterward, Mike surprised Ashley with a delicious chocolate-covered marshmallow and the tiniest scoop of ice cream before geeking out over anime and comic books.
As the crowds dwindled, we decided to try grilled jellyfish before heading back to our hotel for the night. It was different than either of us expected, and one of us preferred it more than the other. 😝

"Khao Kriab Park More" are what you have dropped on the ground. KKPM is a kind of fried of mixed peanut+pork+pickles wrapped by rice paper roll. Thais usually eat them with fried garlic, chili pepper and lettuce. They are savory and are a starter of a meal.
Interesting!! I wish we would have tried them the proper way! We asked if they were sweet or savory, and the lady said sweet, so we thought garlic to be an odd choice, next time we’ll just go with the flow! 😊 Thanks for the information! 🙏

It derives from Indonesia but Thai brought here and adopt their own tune.

for me jellyfish grill is a fun food it's all about the texture. jellyfish normally taste like salt water hahaha
but the sauce really helps.
The texture is wild! The sauce was great; we’ve had similar sauce on other dishes now and love it. 😊

Hey John! Safe travels! It was quite busy in the beginning, but slowed down by about 8:30. There were places to grab beers in the main area where the dancing was taking place, but finding a seat was tough during prime time. We hope you enjoy your trip! If you have any questions, please let us know!
