Sorry guys. I think you got a bad piece of durian. Even for (picky) Thai people, we have to get it from a reputable place or the seller we know. The ripeness can affect the flavor, smell, and texture big time. Some people like it when it’s young, firm, mild, medium, soft, pungent, etc. Anyway, please try again when you can find a legit source. They might even offer you to try using your finger to poke test for the firmness you prefer or eat a tiny piece before you agree to buy it. I love your videos. So glad you’ve come to my country. Good luck!
This video is a gem! We’re off to Chiang Mai in December and everything here is extremely useful, especially the info on the markets, the coffees and the khao sois! Lovely stuff 😎
Cool video. Love the suit fitting footage. As for durian, it's not a good idea to buy packed boxes because you never know how long the durian has been placed in there. It's best to ask the seller to choose a good durian and chop it open in front of your eyes to taste it. Durians are yummie. It's a popular south-east asian fruit, either you love it, or you hate it. And I LOVE IT🙂
Lived in Chang my 8 years and have stayed in many hotels and owned 2 different houses also own 4 condominiums for rental investments. None of our residents ever had smelly water.

ICE. Crushed or tubular, it's the same stuff from the same ice factories. All ice factories use purified water to make both tubular ice and large blocks of ice. The large blocks are then crushed. The way the ice is handled can be the problem, not the ice itself.

There are some nice local restaurants on the small soi's off Loh Kroh road....one of the best is about half way down, turn right on Soi 1, walk past the Number one bar and past the scooter hire shop to a small restaurant on the left called 'Aum and Camrons' ....excellent thai food and reasonably priced beer....a lot of the bar girls from Loh Kroh eat here and take aways are constantly leaving the shop to be delivered to girls working in the bars....
Song Thaew's are not the same as Tuk-Tuks but are cheap to get around the City usually about 30 baht - Tuk -Tuks are smaller for 2 or 3 people and you need to negotiate a price.

chiang mai is the very best part of thailand. however the smoke season killed which can take up to 4 months when lot of people forced to leave the city.
great video. Which country are you from. I am planning to go to Chiang mai for a month for an internship. How much should I take for (transport in taxis, food, and excursions)
Very different vibes I’d say, if you want a more authentic and more relaxed pace of life I would definitely choose Chiang Mai, the people are so friendly, food is amazing (markets too), it’s very safe, lots to do (day trips too), and the coffee scene is the best in Southeast Asia! Bangkok is a more hectic big city with more intensity. People are less patient. Just make sure you don’t go to Chiang Mai during burning season. All the best, you’ll have a good time either way!
I am Thai, born in Chiang Mai. I have a funny story to tell you about Khao Soi. If we were truly northern Thai people, we wouldn't count khao soi as northern food. Even though it is famous as a famous food in northern Thailand. Actually, Khao Soi is made for foreigners and tourists who are not from the North who are not familiar with authentic Northern food. But it's more famous than real northern food. It's similar to a menu called American fried rice that you can only find in Thailand. It is a menu that Thai people made for American soldiers who came to base in Thailand during the Vietnam War. American fried rice was created because American soldiers could not eat Thai food in the beginning. So we came up with this menu🤣🤣🙏🙏
@@yqtyc Raw buffalo larb, where buffalo bile is added to give it a bitter taste. Laab in the north emphasizes aromatic spices, but the taste is not as strong as laab in the northeast. Grilled pork brain and curry paste eaten with sticky rice is amazing. And the strangest food in Chiang Mai is steamed rotten meat. The way to do this is to place the meat in several layers of bags to prevent flies from penetrating and eating the meat. Then hang it on a tree to prevent dogs from stealing the meat and eating it. Leave it for 3-5 days until it spoils. Then take the rotten meat and boil it with herbs that are added to Tom Yum to deodorize it. This menu simulates the situation in the past when there were no cars. In the past, people used to walk. And the northern region is famous for its many mountains. When people from out of town go into the city to sell things and then buy things to take home, they have to walk for several days. So you have to use cows or buffalos to transport things. Sometimes cows and buffalo walk on traps set by hunters. making it unable to travel further The owner would take its life and cut up its meat to take home to eat. But because of the long distance and having to cross the mountains, it would take several days. Causing the meat that was carried with it to rot. But with regret, I tried to cook it. It turned out that it was very delicious and soft🤣🤣🙏🙏

They range, but I would say for a good one somewhere between $150-250 depending on how many things you want to customize..
