i am 53 yrs old from the UK learning on an electric guitar and to be honest? I have only being playing with guitar tricks (12 months subscription at $99/£78 ) for just over 2 months and it is fantastic, you learn at your speed, you start to play on sting 1 (thinnest high e string, then move up to 2 strings, 3 strings, 4 strings etc)... after every lesson you have to learn the lesson off by heart then you move on, so easy to learn and well worth the £78 for the year, its a lot less than buying a coffee a day, after 2 months (i work 12hour shifts and some days i am just sooo tired to pick the guitar up) I am playing 4 strings comfortably..next lessons are the power chords..bring it on!!!
loving the guitar tricks learning, i maybe slow BUT I WILL BE SHREDDING hopefully by the next summer in my garden with the neighbours around....if covid allows :D

Hi Munta1967 I am also 50 and started a couple of weeks ago. Are you still using Guitartricks ? and have you made progress in the last months ? would be great to know.. Cheers..A

@@MrSouzy Hi, i am still loving the guitar tricks tutorials, brilliant fun but frustrating at the same time, i am past the power chords part now, BUT for the last month i have been learning to play tablature songs off youtube, due to buying a positive grid spark amp and loving it! (guitar tricks learns you how to read tab also) i have learned the top gun theme and the shallow (lady gaga) song, no fancy bends or tremelo yet as i needed to learn the notes off by heart and am trying to put my own twang on them lol...
but i am back on guitar tricks now and will go the distance with them...as i said before it is frustrating at times, but when you get to the next level it is like a feel good sensation and you get hungry for more lessons...if you fancy buying it, then i well recommend it, just take it one lesson at a time and have fun :)
i now have 3 guitars in my little harem (Harley Benton ST-20 , a Gretsch 5230T, Harley Benton fusion-II HSH and love them all equally) due to getting the guitar bug BIG STYLE , gonna try be as good as i can be via guitar tricks and taking everything in my stride that they throw at me :)
you learn at your own pace, get comfortable with where the frets are and eventually hitting the string you want with the pick, its fun and the frustration is thrown in free lmao :D

@@munta1967 its great to hear you have made progress ! :) I already applied for a free trial and I have already (re) learnt quite a lot. I have been playing on an acoustic but last week my new "Tele" arrived. I bought myself one of those Harley Bentons and am quite impressed by the quality and the playability. My son is having lessons with a teacher so I am also trying to keep up with him. The biggest problem I have at the moment is the pain in the end of my fingers.. lol

@@MrSouzy yeah lol, the pain in the finger ends is bad i know, but it gets easier in time, if i practice too long they still let me know about it :D just need to keep building those callouses up lmao :) what HB model tele did you buy?, I will check it out :D

Many thanks, I've been looking for "blues guitar phrasing" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Wanichael Corylexander Equalizer - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my cousin got amazing success with it.

I'm not so happy I spend money on this.
It feels like I'm being shown a ton of different things, but never learn more than a few basics before being whisked along to something else.
There is never really any structure for me to practice anything in particular, and sometimes, it gets into lessons or songs I'm just not interested in.
It's frustrating when all I want, is for it to help me practice playing basic chords for a few weeks so I can that subject down pretty well while it forces me along to power chords after learning just a few of them.
I was also looking forward to learning to properly use barre chords, but it never actually does.
Instead, it shows simplified versions where you don't have to "barre" at all and now I'm at a point where I have to choose whether I want to continue with blues music, acoustic, country (hell to the no), or rock without me feeing like it ever covered the basics properly.

You can try the old fundamentals 1 & 2 courses by Lisa. They have some nice theory. For practice I just practice till I can nail the final song of the course. They also have practice tutorials in their "Beginner Lessons" and "Experienced Lessons" sections.
