Best Whiskeytube Channel. Your timing is freaking awesome. Just picked up a Grizzly Beast I bought in San Diego Yesterday. Just got home from our trip 2 hours ago, opened my phone and saw your thumbnail. Gonna pop the cork and drink along. Love your content.

Great Drinktrough! I really like their two Bottled in Bonds. The BiBs are all their own juice and I think that it shows the future of their distillery. I am looking for good things from Redwood. The base Rye is one of my everyday Ryes - at under $30 it is very good.

NICE! They also just released 2 new LE's this month. Redwood Empire is my favorite small distillery on the market. Great bang for buck bottles (at least in my area ~30 for entry bottles, ~65 for cask str, and ~75 on the BIB releases)

Appreciate these guys and enjoy their perspectives esp on these deep dives. It's unfortunate though, there's little to no interaction with viewers. Everything is 'liked' but not one response. What's up with that? There's 3 of you. Pretty easy to divide and conquer I'd think.

For a small producer with their own distillate, the Rocket Top is in my top two for ryes, the other one is Frey Ranch Rye. I think those two make exceptional products that will only get better over time.

    • @jasoncoates1835
      @jasoncoates1835 Год назад

I agree. Loved the Rocket Top... their juice is great, it seems. Have you given Corbin Cash a try, speaking of CA ryes?

    Awesome Drinkthrough ™!
We've had them here in Connecticut for the past 5 or 6 years so very familiar with them. They put out great products. I do find it strange that their own BiBs (really good interesting stuff) are priced a bit higher than the cask strength sourced line and wonder if they get to a fully self produced point that the value side will eventually take a hit. But for right now, it's hard to knock picking any of these up.

Funny video with the 3 characters.... Dillon thinks he's the man - and he clearly isn't!!! But his input is secondary, but cute.
I'm a Sommelier, and Dillon is exactly what you don't want to be describing your products. It's important to be relatable and not a think I know it all. But Redwood empire is a fun producer that puts out a quality product and clearly states what they are trying to do with each product....and are very successful in doing so. Their profile doesnt match everyone's palate, so move along if it doesn't meet yours. Hits mine square !!!

This has generally not been available around me. Had a bottle of the base rye in CA last year, thought it was fair. Just got a bottled in bond Grizzly Beast locally but paid almost $100. Would like to see the rye.

You can deduct mashbill of unequal blends of different with a spreadsheet and a formula. Or just use equal parts of each component of each blend and you can easily find mashbills.

I agree that their ryes are superior. Rocket top is easily my favorite but I do really enjoy the standard lost monarch. All of their bourbons are mid though.

The pipe dream cask version removes the Tennessee distillate, I think that's what makes it worse than the original. These are bottles that need to air out a bit so we will see.

It's MGP juice unless they specifically say the contrary, last i heard anyways. I'm glad i found your channel. FOMO is blocked again. others have hyped all of these with irreverence for actual contemplation and sit down tastings. If you think you don't like something, sit with it. You just might dig into a note you do like. or learn to like it. But saying MEH is a big clue.

Batch 1 rocket was awesome and that Haystack series is a favorite of mine.
Not a fan of batch 2 grizzly and all the CS stuff was just meh.
Wondering what the Haystack bottle will taste like when you guys try it without running through all of those other bottles first.

I don’t think you guys gave it a proper go because you didn’t let it air out because that rye is really amazing once it opens up. Maybe you need to get the frother to it. The cask strength emerald giant.

  • @jasono.1629

Everyone loves these and I’m like huh? Don’t like this brand.
I tried the Emerald Giant and it was not good. Tasted sharp for such a low proof, and unbalanced. Kinda like a botched batch of Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon (which is far superior). Bitter and medicinal…yes well described.

I'm confused on the hype of Redwood Empire. It was pushed on me and people says it's good, but I don't think I'll buy another bottle because every time I've tried it, I think it kinda sucks...🤷‍♀

Everyone loves these and I’m like huh? Don’t like this distiller.
I tried the Emerald Giant and it was not good. Tasted sharp for such a low proof, and unbalanced. Kinda like a badly botched bottle of Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon (which is far superior). Bitter and medicinal…yes well described.
Lost Monarch is a perfect example of the weakness of micro craft distillers. I don’t care if they source from elsewhere or they make their own stuff. Lost Monarch is not good.
