The Supcase is my goto case for all my apple products. Although I tend to remove the plastic screen protector and just add my own tempered glass screen protector. One thing I do dislike is that I cant find a case without the pencil slot.
Exact same thing I do! I hate dust getting behind the plastic. So I remove that from the frame and then just put a glass protector on the device itself. It's sometimes a tight fit but I like having just the glass. And yeah I can't seem to find one without that pencil holder as well.
I prefer cases that focus on full body protection and not so much the pencil feature. I got the Longevity Turtle case that has an open spot for the pencil, but works so far for me.
