Good evening Funky, I purchased one of these beauties from Andy after viewing your review and also that of Mack Tightwad last year. I Took delivery today of one of Andy's custom leather sheaths made to hold knife. The sheath Compliments the knife fantastically. I highly recommend both to anyone who is pondering purchasing 👍
_I make up my ferrocerium rods with spent brass. Even my 5"x1" rod. That knife is a BEAST! Sheffield steel is known the world over for quality. Definitely a beater_
They make a band you can wrap around your elbow/forearm that takes the pressure off the nerve that’s inflamed. You should be able to get it at a sports store or pharmacy.
I've handled one of these at this year's preppers meet, they are decent ,solid as you could ask for too. This tool will never break on you on that's for sure
@@funkyprepper sorry i should have clarified a bit more what i meant, for £120 your looking at Fallkniven F1's , having used both i know which i would want by my side, even at £90 far better out there :)
Great vid I modified my issued knife using a small grinder, a file and some sandpaper I took the top of the guard off, like the one in the video, then thinned down the wooden handle to remove that annoying groove it had, top and bottom. (But made sure you can still see the NSN) With the blade I used the grinder to put a Tanto point on it, which made it about 10mm shorter, but much more useful I did fork out for a bespoke, leather sheath though. It holds a sharpening stone and a ferro rod on it and looks great. It's a right hand scout sheath, with MOLLE attachments, so can be fixed to my bergen, daysack, or worn on my belt I do like the idea of the groove for the ferro rod on that one, it would definitely make it more stable when striking, because it is a heavy beast. I think I might do the same with mine too Thanks for sharing
@@pilgrimoutdoors-uk6177 www.woodlanderleather.co.uk/ I went for a right hand, scout sheath, (similar to the first one in the ESEE section, but with a conversion rig, to have it horizontal on a day sack I sometimes use when I go out). He owns a MOD knife himself and made a pretty decent sheath for it, which is shown on there too, but I wanted something bespoke, to better suit my modifications to the knife Highly recommended, he imports all over the world
That "sheath" for the black handled knife is a PLCE SA80 bayonet frog. The blade of your knife will eventually cut through the stitching - dangerous. It's worth getting the proper sheath for it or a bespoke one. A good one will have rivets along the seam where the blade edge is. (Like the issue '44/'58 pattern Golok sheath) The rivets stop the blade cutting through the seam. I think these knives were included in vehicle tool kits. More of a levering tool than a cutting implement: never sharp because of abuse... Despite not having a full tang, I MUCH prefer the Frost Mora knives.
I don't remember these blades Funky, who was issued with them? the only blade like that I remember was in the recover kit in the pig's or Bedford's. Must be a pilot or Regiment issued bit of kit hey?. Great to see you back in the bunker brother. Your Southern bug out homestead is waiting for you down here mate, along with a printing tool and food. lol. Stay frosty.
Generally only got issued them if you went to the Jungle. I got mine in Belize and had to go diffy, to keep it, (they want it handed back) I've sanded the handle down, removed the top of the guard, (like the one in the video), but I ground the blade into a Tanto point It's a heavy bit of kit, but it will last longer than the person using it
Odd that a Brit calls the attention to US 1 1/2 inches since the Brits brought it to America a while back. Looks like a great, if a bit heavy, piece of kit. Thanks for the videos.
Good video. I was lucky and picked up TWO brand new knives off of ebay 17 or 18 years ago, and I paid either $39 or $41 for BOTH SHIPPED. While you can tell they're a beast, both had the edge parkerized over and were about as sharp as a bowling ball, but they were for my collection and I left them as is. They came with the riveted leather left handed sheath. Do you know why they don't have right handed? The handles are not wood either. They were like you said, some sort of a plastic or bakelite handle. You can tell they were made to be abused like a red headed step child, but those handles are not comfortable at all and could have been better...for "ME" anyway, but again, they're in my collection and not for use. Keep up the great work.
That MoD knife looks awesome, it almost looks like a tanto blade. Man, that thing is beautiful. I think I've seen your knife being worked on but it could be another knife that looks like yours. Man, that came out really good but I wouldn't have done a ferro rod notch on the knife, a 90 degree spine over all would have been just fine for me if it was my knife, must be an English thing. But still a great knife, well done!
Did you use them in the field JP? Wondered how they held up in the hard stuff ..they certainly feel like they would do the job but I hear mixed things from ex services
great knife i live in sheffield where they make those knife and got one it was my my granddads and it was pass down to me sorry hear u got tennis eldow i had it and had the operation to correct it
Wow what a great honour, best UK steel and a company that's 320 years old....amazing. didn't know there was surgery for this, was it successful or not?
I have a medicinal herb that I have used to get rid of tennis elbow. It works on nerves, tendons, and ligaments. I suggest you try it before trying surgery.
Unfortunately, there’s a bit of a wait for the knife. Modkit quote 2 to 3 weeks. It’s been 5 weeks now and still no sign of it. So, get your order in well before you need it.
.......Hello, Funky.....I typed a msg. of inquiry to Andy twice and did not get it sent to him either time. ...The Black button with the white arrow erased the first msg. The second time I tried to send with the " I"m not a " button and it said my time expired... I'm not very computer literate and apparently don't know the secret code to send an inquiry...Any suggestions? I like your vid and I would like to have one of those knives if I can get through to Andy......
Hi Andy, I'll text him in the morning about this. Its a shame Google stopped the private message section on RUclips. Not sure how you guys can communicate without going public. Andy is a bit like me when it comes to privacy.

U make .50 ferro rods?
That's awesome. What a chunk of steel.
Seems to be a huge improvement over the original. Might consider getting one myself when he's back.
Had mine for 40 years and as good as the day I got it free from my army days!
Awesome 👌
Yay your back love the blog I've got a usmc combat knife good bit of kit. Good to see you back brother 🏴🇬🇧🥁

Its just a sharpened hunk of steel. Thats definitely a knife for the Apocalypse.

Just ordered one. Great Kit!

I’ve just been out and stocked up on Wright’s coal tar soap. I got 3 bars. Hashtag stockpiling.
£90 for the black inc delivery, these won't be going out of stock anytime soon, review is good thums up for that
How much and do you deliver to Ireland?
Crazy as they cost 90 without any modifications. I don't know what you expect lol

I gave up in the end and got a refund
Yeah same. I bet I wont get mine until after Christmas.
Got one, it’s mint
British is best. My 2 main knives are British army issue. The survival knife made by Rodgers Sheffield and a kukuri. Cant beat them.
Love the Video! I’ve got 2 of these coming now what sort of edge is on the original?
Did you say its 1095 high carbon?I think i might get one then.
Got an original Wilkinson swords one , paid £1.00 for it for it 45 years ago.
Would you be willing to sell it?
@@Tops1212 it's the D Type ,, make me an offer?

Tennis elbow is crap. Took me about three months to get strength back. Hope you heal quicker than that!
Me too, ive heard it can take years
@@funkyprepper like I said, Try my herbs first.
Hey funkyprepper,
What options do I have for different sheathes? The original is really poor..
Vanguard is ok
Wrap the fastener in paracord ( cobra stitch) it holds it better in the sheath!
May be difficult to explain that hunk away should one be stopped by the fuzz. 😀
Depends what you're doing. If it's in a backpack and you're clearly going off to woodland to do some bushcraft I reckon you'd be alright.
can you still order these?
wood handle or fiberex?
Funky! been watching you for years bro.. always love your content.. Essex lad in Queensland Australia ..stay cool ..now subscribe 👍
Black knifes matter, really good bit of kit buddy , it’s just awesome and I suppose you could even say a thing of beauty 👍🏻😊

How much???

Agree don’t like it I think even the RAF swapped them out for a axe instead
Each to their own, if people were shown how to keep tools sharp and prevent rust i think it might be a different story
Not a survival knife, is a tool for the tool box
