why doesnt iphones just let you select the original files. So annoying. I send the original jpg files with gps location, original quality/size/pixels, date and all other info over whatsapp or telegram or whatever app with my android. Iphone always has to be difficult.

"Copy iCloud Link" comes in later versions of the iPhone software so you might need to update your phone software. When you go into Settings -> General -> About, what version do you see there and what phone model do you have?
It's a limitation of SMS / cellular texting... cell phone providers could definitely fix this! Even Whatsapp will butcher the quality of images unless you carefully send a link to full quality files. - Lucas

My husband's iPhone 14 pro doesn't give him the "Copy iCloud Link" option. Is there another step to take for him to get that? I have a Samsung Galaxy s24+ and I'm firmly entrenched.
My apple user friends often have an error message that says icloud storage full when they try and use the link. Is this an easy fix on their end? Also, is there any way to get airdrop or something similar between android and apple users?

And if your Apple users are not paying for iCloud storage then they would just need to "Download" the photos using the browser on their Mac, into a folder. My vague memory is on the Android you click the link and it opens in a web browser view, then you have the option to Download the photos and save them where you want. It has the same amount of ( mb ) but they look different, I would love to show u what I mean but I tried to upload the photo on my pc and is the same thing. The only reason I can think of is, because photos are made in raw mode and no any other device supports that ? 🤷🏻♂️ ( I watched that video before sending u the first comment 🤗 )

@@TroyArchAngel That would be an issue with the photos themselves in that case… IE they’re already missing metadata before you do that iCloud link thing. Where did those photos come from?

I even tried extracting the icloud zip to the camera folder, nothing seem to work. What's crazy is that we are in 2023 and there is not a single tool or app to do this perfectly without an issue. I tried a bunch of apps and methods nothing seem to work, even the cable from iphone to Android wire transfer, same issue. Ok so apparently I'm Phil because can' afford an expensive Iphone. My son on vaca in Maui sent me pics from his iphone. Of course they are in yhe iCloud. Tried to download to my a droid phone that is 3 yrs old. I have recieved photis from him before bc in mu gallery there are iCloud photos that are downloaded. Don't understand why I can't do it this time. Did something change with Apple? Which I hate btw. They are expensive and sorry use slave labor.
Funny.... Android can send hi res images to apple without any extra steps.... Its almost like apple is purposely making it hard to share with android. Or maybe they just haven't figured out the tech yet, they certainly have fallen behind Android in recent years

You would need to set AirDrop to send with full quality... I made a video about that recently. AirDrop full quality photos.
