    Rowan Atkinson is legendary, he's an absolute master of deliberate over-pronounciation, and combined with his ability to make a joke just with his facial expressions, makes for a very silly but totally inoffensive brand of comedy.
    I think this sketch came from an ensemble sketch show called Not The Nine O'Clock News which was one of the foundations of British sketch show comedy.
    Loving your genuine reactions to these comedies, Fred Dibnah, The Group B rally etc and I really appreciate the fact that you're not trying to be some sort of "RUclips personality" with that big, fake, over-the-top demeanour that seems to be popular these days.

    This sketch was mostly likely inspired by some of the Joyce Grenfell monologues from the 50s such as this one:
    ruclips.net/video/ZXhHFgDRNBQ/видео.html
    Joyce also played a gormless policewoman in the original St. Trinians films of the 50s. If you're not familiar with these they are from the Golden Age of Ealing comedies which are well worth checking out. They are still often shown on UK TV, especially around Christmas time.
    Rowan's Devil monologue is even funnier IMO:
    ruclips.net/video/Ut116mBuPpg/видео.html
    Another good one is Rowan as a Headmaster in a teacher/parent meeting:
    ruclips.net/video/ppVpdsClN80/видео.html
    You should also check out Not The Nine O'clock News which kickstarted Rowan's career along with Mel Smith, Griff Rhys Jones and Pamela Stephenson (Billy Connelly's wife). Two fantastic sketches which both include Rowan are:
    "Constable Savage": ruclips.net/video/teSPN8sVbFU/видео.html
    and Gerald the Goriila. Unfortunately for some reason this sketch had been removed from RUclips last time I checked although it may be in one of the full episodes.

    Alan, a little known fact about Rowan Atkinson is that he has always been a stutterer throughout his entire life. That's why he always enunciates all of his words so precisely during all of his onscreen appearances. Add to this the fact that he has an IQ of 178 which classifies him as being a super-genius then you can see why he puts his intelligence to good use and is so successful in all of his rôles, can't you?

    • @TheMadTatter
      @TheMadTatter 3 года назад +1

      I never knew that, I guess it makes sense given the way speech therapy was often undertaken years ago, I always just thought he over-pronounced words as part of his shtick because seeing him in interviews and what not, he never seems to do it, but I guess that's just a product of time and eventually getting over his stutter.

    It's so funny because it's genius. Cue Rowan Atkinson. So nice seeing an American appreciating the things we've loved and love over here. Very humble. Well done fella keep up the great videos. Subscribed :)

    High school humor done by one of the great Masters of comedy. If you think this is good, then Blackadder is a MUST watch.
