This interview is light years ahead of most of the other interviews I have seen. Angie does a great job of steering the conversation while still being aware of J. Cole's comfort level.
Angie is trash. She doesn't steer anything. She asks safe questions so the guest will feel comfortable but she never pushes it or asks anything controversial. Her birdman interview is the best proof of not getting anything out of a guest. Every guest basically takes over the interview and she just becomes a commentator
The fact that he admits that social media is an addiction and is trying to not be controlled by it I think it’s a great inspiration. Thousands of people are guilty of it and I feel like it steals our time, questions our self love and just robs your time for entertainment. So raw
This man is literally so pure with the most beautiful heart. 2 years later I'm here again, for probably the 10th time watching this interview. Sometimes I just need Cole's voice as a reminder of certain things.
The most wholesome interview I've seen of Cole. He's living his philosophy and finding his peace even today in 2024. He'll go down as one of the GREATEST OF ALL TIMES.

the fact that i can't have this conversation with people around me is really hurting, it's nice that this interview is so long so whenever i need to talk with someone with a brain i come back here
Mosab Awad i hella feel this! I changed my way of viewing things + became big on energy/vibes. I would constantly try venting to a close friend and mom about how i was feeling and they would look at me like i was crazy.. even asked if i was on drugs. Took me months to realize that we were just on different levels. Im a young dude but i feel like 90% of society is just living in a fairytale because they let social media and money control them.
Jose Gutierrez I feel you bro, I wish I could have these deep intellectual conversations with someone who’s not childish and thinks on a mature, open-minded level.
I love j cole bc u know when he take them pauses he’s actually thinking about wat he is saying before he says it and a lot of people don’t do that now💯
Exactly im starting to do those pauses too in conversations when im mad or something, i start telling myself why im mad and realize to just let things go
Cole being open with his anxiety is something I really admire. It’s really hard for me to put words to how my anxiety feels, and having someone like him to look up to is valuable
I would love to meet and talk someone like JCole; grounded, connected, humble and wise. He could teach you so much about yourself without even knowing. Grow and admire.
I love listening to J Cole talk seriously it's very therapeutic for me. He drops ALOT of knowledge and it makes me think about my life and what I could be doing better to better myself as a human being and I've really been trying to become more spiritual and strengthen my faith! Much love to all of you ❤️🙏
Cole has such carefully worded and constructed sentences, you can tell that he thoughtfully crafts his speech, and that's what makes him such a great artist and an even better person to me.
I can still remember the moment that I stumbled upon J. Cole. It was 4/20/2018 the release of K.O.D. I was just chillin in my room and saw in spotify that J. Cole released a new album, and I listened to it. After like an hour, I was shocked cause it opened my eyes on how big people's problems are. As a 17 year old kid back in 2018, I was just living every single day in my comfort zone. But when I heard the song Brackets, it gave me this opportunity to like look at other people as human without judgement. Craved for more lessons and I started streaming J. Cole's songs. Stumbled upon Apparently, Change, False Prophets, etc. these helped me to grow internally as a young man. I just wish that someday I could like tell Cole how his music constantly reminds how amazing life is despite its difficulty. I'm now 20 years old and I still apply the discipline and lessons that I got from Cole's music.
I like cole man, he is aware. Perfect no. But he’s mindful of his actions and or reactions. A lot of times you must go inward to find every answer you are looking for. It’s scary at first, but liberating all in the same.

Watching Cole and Kendrick interviews should be a way of life, they're so profound. The Bob Marley and Prince of hip hop. Two of the greatest of all time ❤
Cole... you’ve really done it this time. I always take something from your interviews, but this one hit me so hard. Ever since I watched this interview a few hours ago I’ve been reflecting a lot on my childhood & realizing that a lot of my anxieties stem from my upbringing. My parents had me at 15 & I won’t even begin to get into their demons. But long story short it’s generational curses. They were how they were because of their childhoods & upbringings. And their childhoods & upbringings were how they were because of their parents childhoods & upbringings... so on & so forth. Hurt people, hurt people. I’ve been sitting in my car for the past couple hours just crying & writing, realizing so much. I feel like a weight is lifted. Not to say I have it all figured out, but I feel a sense of freedom. I have so much compassion for my parents & even for myself now that I’ve realized all that I’ve realized. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU! I feel like this is the start of my healing. ❤️🙏🏽 sidenote: this is my 3rd time in these comments 😂😂😂 I’ll probably keep coming back to this video for a while.
Wow, J. Cole is genuinely a cool guy and has an amazing mind. I'm thankful he is where he is and he has said what he has said. Respect to you, keep being the best you that you can be.
Was this really a well constructed interview? Seemed like Angie Martinez just aggreed to everything J. Cole was saying though. She didn't challenege anything he said. She could have really got so much more if she didn't play the "Yes man" role. Charlamagne Tha God wasn't afraid to test Kanye in his interview. To be honest this interview disappointed me..
Even 4yrs on my mind is blown away at the deep words I am resinating with, excellent interview please interview JCole now in 2023, I feel his words have come to fruition 4yrs on
What he said about social media is exactly how I feel & how he spoke about changing bad habits, it’s very hard. Edit: J Cole, I hope you see this. Your song Killer & Premeditated murder were the reasons I went to law school. I am currently integrating into higher education and public policy to create policies predominantly for minority/low income people of color. Your mixtapes got me through college & heartbreaks. Your stories help me center the millions of thoughts in my head. Specifically, your song “problems” got me through summer 16, after I graduated college, I was in a crazy space. Thank you. You’re a gem and the greatest story teller of all time. I love you and thank you for doing these interviews. Your voice matters and it is healing so many.
If just one reads this, it'll truly make my day. SALUTE COLE & HAPPY 4/20!
Praying the stars align for a Angie x Cole interview when The Off Season drops to make it 3 for 3. The growth and maturity Cole has shown over this last decade had been nothing but inspiring! Hope me n bro bro get to chop it up one day ☝🏾🌍 #coleworld
Jcole is a great artist not because of just his skill. He’s never above anyone or below anyone. He knows everyone has their own lane ,but we co exist to never feel or be alone. He’s displayed a sense of being relatable to everyday struggles. That’s fair to his fans who are regular people. Jcole has been a big father figure in my life and 4 your eyez only Jermaine. Your the best thing that’s happened to me. ❤️
This man is so highly rounded ( actualized). J Cole you continue to amaze me with your music, your drive, and your authenticity. I relate so much with your thoughts, your vulnerabilities and intentions. You’re a beautiful man with a huge heart. Thank you for bringing me up and also teaching me that making sense of the art, the continual practice , of living this life. Blessings and peace.
Well he probably can be one, he went to school for communications and business and was looking into being a lawyer before he got started in the rap game
its incredible how this man just explained to Angie and the viewers how his words aren't meant to to be anchors but triggers. but the comments are full of praise and worship. take the message and apply it to your life. Were all capable of this thought process, look away from the screens and plug your holes with something more meaningful than another hole filled man. find something you like...and get good at it, find something within you that you dont like and change it. Were so young we begin to feel immortal. But theres like after 20, 30, and 35. You have to stop looking to others for answers.
Dude this is legit what I preach to people’s I’ve been discovering and exploring my love of cooking for close to 4 years and people constantly question it. But when you find something you love doing, and you choose to pour love into it becomes so easy.
He's dead right about ego. I feel like I became a real man when I let ego go. Not completely, but choosing to have an ego about true things. Not money, celebrity, or to be better than the next man. But ego about being a good person, husband, father, friend. Nothing superficial can shake me because ego doesn't control me. The ego will have you chasing things that don't really exist but give you a false hope. Once you connect to your inner self and let it go your only moved by real things and a new improved, realistic person emerges.
You can´t kill your ego it´s a part of your vehicle, observe and accept everything what comes emotions, thoughts, pain and let go. Just don´t listen to your ego it´s useless it´s a recycle of your experienced data in this world and keeps you into this boxes.
I really Can't explain my love and thankfulness for this man and what he is doing. It's staggering how real he is and how pure his intentions are. A true legend way ahead of his time. I know he says we shouldn't put people on pedastols above us and that we're all equal regardless of idoltry, but what he is saying and how he expresses himself through his art and just as a human being is insanely impactful. He really is a blessing to this generation and i really do hope we'll reach the point in society where we can all realize it and fully give him the appreciation he DESERVES. This man is a GOAT, ain't no discussion. Thank you Jermaine
I love this man, and he says that we shouldn’t idolize celebrities and I really try not to but he is who I aspire to be, he’s always a work in progress, recognizing that he’s human and that life takes us through many trials, different emotions, situations but at the same time learning to recognize and call out his own faults while constantly striving to improve and be his best self. Cole I’m a forever fan...
"for a celebrity" Its sad that you would think he isnt an intelligent, mindful person just bc he's a celebrity. Thats your fault for thinking so low of him.
It depends, he's talking about creating a outside observer in your own mind, catching your behaviour and actions is difficult but after many years I was able to do it but that outside observer doesn't have all the power, don't get obsessed with catching yourself doing things. You need a balance, humans are good at finding patterns but what about the patterns in between
3 years later and these things are still relevant. Cole's words will live on forever. His spirit, my God. A treasure that we all have within us but won't tap in.
I've seen this interview about 7 times. Every time I'm dealing with a mental block, I get pulled to watch this and every single time, I feel better after watching this. It reminds me to stay present and conscious of my choices. I wish Cole had a podcast man. lol
this is a very important interview especially in this day and age. Its been incredible as a Cole fan seeing the man evolve and really have an intention. Its truly inspiring. COLE WORLD

What a well constructed interview. Shoutout to Cole for his refreshingly different outlook. And thank you for the knowledge 🙏💯
Marc Vinyls word
Very well. It seemed like a natural conversation more than an interview at certain times.

To be honest this interview disappointed me..
hes an amazing communicator, the hand gestures when presenting ideas are so important when discussing your thoughts
This was so refreshing!
I got thoughts cant control
This was worth every second ❤️
Obianuju Orjioke it was definitely worth it💙

Na, we’re rewinding to listen to quotes a second time.
Obianuju Orjioke ur pic is beautiful
You went to Bethune?
If just one reads this, it'll truly make my day. I am a rapper from QUEENS, NY*. *I know people write this stuff all the time, but I really believe that I will be the one you will be glad you listened to. I am coming close to 500 subs and counting. If *ONE PERSON could just give this a thumbs up, you'll be a step closer to helping a man's dreams come true. come vibe wit me and you won't be disappointed. 💯
I HAVE BEEN COMPARED TO LUPE, NAS, BUT THE BIGGEST IS J.COLE!!

That's 🔥 fam! I really hope you and Cole talk one day 🙏

Don't forget the 15 seconds of greatness
crazy this man don’t know how he’s impacting my mindset rn. Favorite artist for a reason. God works in mysterious ways
Fax
"You're not free thinking when the ego is pulling all the strings."
that is deep
I needs to put that in the next album.
A real J. Cole fan would watch this interview while eating food and watching it like it’s a history lesson on realness

Classic interview
Will & Bub it was good but Angie kept interrupting him. This nigga doesn't do a lot of interviews, at least let him finish his thought
Amazing
Dismal right! Shit was mad annoying ugh!
Anyone else rewatching this before The Off-Season??
WE OUT HERE!
Yes sr
We tapped in
He is such a humble, self aware individual. I really admire his way of seeing things.
J Cole is a Therapist...
I see what you did there!
That was his old name
Well he probably can be one, he went to school for communications and business and was looking into being a lawyer before he got started in the rap game
MatafiedGaming use to b his rap name
His old rap name as a teenager was “the therapist”
its incredible how this man just explained to Angie and the viewers how his words aren't meant to to be anchors but triggers. but the comments are full of praise and worship. take the message and apply it to your life.
Facts
crazy how this is the truth but it only got 53 likes compared to the praises that got over 1k likes
Preach
Dude this is legit what I preach to people’s I’ve been discovering and exploring my love of cooking for close to 4 years and people constantly question it.
But when you find something you love doing, and you choose to pour love into it becomes so easy.
@@chancecrump9609 Professional cooking or just for yourself? Either way I love the dedication
This is another reason to love J.Cole. Honest, not like everyone else and self contained
Exactly.. words of wisdom!
True LiFe in order to be a great person you must kill your ego!
You can´t kill your ego it´s a part of your vehicle, observe and accept everything what comes emotions, thoughts, pain and let go. Just don´t listen to your ego it´s useless it´s a recycle of your experienced data in this world and keeps you into this boxes.
I like that. Keep it up
i really preesh this bruh. u put it perfectly. Appreciate your writing abilities as well. Looks like you enjoy writing essays: as I do.
He really is a blessing to this generation and i really do hope we'll reach the point in society where we can all realize it and fully give him the appreciation he
DESERVES.
Anti Social I feel the same way I try so hard not to idolize him but he’s so wise I appreciate him so much
As long as you don't idolize someone for there celebrity but for their personal characteristics your good
Let’s all celebrate them while there still here not when they dead and gone
This man's mind is so evolved and clear for a celebrity. It's refreshing on another level.
Fatmanslim 112 not just for a celebrity, but for any person
"for a celebrity" Its sad that you would think he isnt an intelligent, mindful person just bc he's a celebrity. Thats your fault for thinking so low of him.
Tommy Sinclair I said for any person???
Tommy Sinclair
Thats not why its bad, its bad because he seperates a celebrity with a person. Their exactly the same as us in every way.
he’s definitely read a lot of books. his self-awareness mentality is straight from the book ‘untethered soul’. this artist is everything.
this book absolute fire
It depends, he's talking about creating a outside observer in your own mind, catching your behaviour and actions is difficult but after many years I was able to do it but that outside observer doesn't have all the power, don't get obsessed with catching yourself doing things. You need a balance, humans are good at finding patterns but what about the patterns in between
I feel like a lot of what he says references the book: “The Power of Now”
@@usman8194 spot on
Yesssssssssssssssssssss. I felt that. And only watching this in 2022. I have read that. I felt that. Thank you.
