Nice review Tim! I was curious, of all the PKS knives you have handled, which is your favorite? I own a Scorpion HD and an XL. I got the HD the week it originally came out in late 2015. The XL I picked up back in March. I can definitely tell that PKS refined their process over the past year or so as that knife has a better fit , finish and grind. Thanks for sharing!

Man that's hard to answer, I like them all and depending on what I'm doing depends on which I take with me. The Basic Bushcraft is the one I carry most with the Scorpion coming in a close second but now that hunting has started the Mountain Lion and Grizzly will be carried more. Sorry love them all.

Great video, thanks for the review. I have this knife and am very pleased with everything from tip to end of the handle. I also have the 013 kit knife from PKS that has the same blades as the mountaineer but has a handle shape the same as the Phantom II and I am still trying to decide which I like better. I got lucky also as I was waiting till I had the money to buy this knife and the prices went down so I was also able to get the mountain Lyon with a Kydex sheath. And also another kit knife the 03 that has the Phantom style blade with the very pointy tip and handle with micarta scales and the left handed leather sheath for a great back up knife for the mountaineer.

What are your thoughts on this knife in comparison to the PKS Mountan Lion?

Little more steel to work with if you are into a big knife you will love the Mountaineer. If you like a lighter blade that will still do big jobs but has a little smoother control on smaller projects than you will probably prefer the Mountain Lion. Both are great and will get the job done, it really comes down to your size preference.

Love them both. The mountain Lion is a little lighter but that's not a bad thing, Is weight a consideration?

Both are great, really, I like the Mountain Lion better for every day but if you need to get a big job done or if you favor a large knife, it's hard to beat the Mountaineer.
