This is the guy that voted against your family having paid family leave and universal childcare. His mother-in-law can just take a year off from work and become free, in-home childcare, so he doesn't care if your family needs to work multiple jobs and pay some lady in your apartment under the table in cash to watch yet another child. The difference between the Democrats and the Republicans used to be about different policies to arrive at the same goals. Today the difference is that the Democrats want policies that help the working class while the Republicans actively work to whittle down the working class and create policies to further benefit the donor class.
Almost no Republican will vote for anything that doesn't enrich them either directly or indirectly. They have no loyalty to this country, to our Constitution, or to the voters. They lack basic human empathy. Their inability to put themselves in someone else's shoes is just heartbreaking and will be sickening if they get back into power. We need to vote blue to keep elitist sociopaths like Vance out of the White House.

For Asian family they care more on the involvement of a family member taking care of a child not just a baby sitter. That is why JD was very grateful to his mother in law. I've been.a stay at home mom for 18 years. When my 2nd and 3rd children were born both sets of parents( mine plus the in laws) took a rapid decline in their health. My dad went blind after an an eye surgery, my mom had early stage Alzheimer's plus cancer, my mother in law was having complications from surgeries to remove some of her intestines and those complications lead to her being permanently disabled. She only sits now.
Ask me how fun it was to try and raise little kids while rushing off to deal with health crisis , after health crisis with parents? it was f****** awful.
You can't just rely on your parents to help you with the kids. hell you may end up taking care of them as well!

Francesca Fiorentini ❤️ talks from first hand experience. Where was the husband, J D Vance, when Usha had no sleep? I used to sit on a sitting ball with my little daughter during the night in order to give my wife a bit of sleep. Real partners in a relationship help each other out, and there shouldn't be a special burden for women in it, be it the mother or the grandmother of a child. It's nice when the grandparents can be of any help. But again: A grandfather can do the job as well as the grandmother.

The grandma didn't help raise their child because she was menopausal. She did it because she considered that as her duty.
My 1st wife was just standing there talking with me one day (in the 3rd or 4th month of Pregnancy). Out of the Blue, she screams in pain & falls over. It was terrible. Immediately got her in to the car & to the emergency room (3 blocks away). The 1st Dr basically thought nothing of it. Wanted to send her home "to rest". I said "No way". (later learned she would have bled to death if we had done what the 1st Dr (Male -couldn't be bothered) said.
2cnd Dr actually examined her & knew instantly what it was - Ectopic Pregnancy . Thank goodness I forced a 2cnd opinion.
But what is a post-menopausal woman with no grandchildren to do with her life? Her options are so limited. She must seek fulfillment is lesser careers like Attorney General, Senator, Vice President, President ... so sad.

Indian , Latino black and most european countries do not stick grandma in the nursing home , this is an American phenomenon and a very lucrative one at that. When I first came to this country back in 74 as a child , most of my friends who were white had just their parents at home while my Puerto Rican , Black and Dominican and Italian friends had all their grandmas and much better cooking . I was in shock.

He’s so superior in every way. Using his mother-in-law for child care, and it makes his son a better person. What about effect on mom-in-law’s work? And ugh talking about her being “post menopausal”. Talking about a woman’s or anyone’s hormones should be between themselves and their doctor.
My mom helped raise several of her grandchildren, including mine since I worked outside the home. The important part is my mom "chose" to help us by babysitting our children. She didn't have to, it was NOT her job! My husband and I are forever grateful. Early on, my husband and I made a decision that I would only work part-time (we were extremely blessed to be able to do so, not everyone can!) but again, I chose to do that. The kind of thinking Vance and Trump have is bull! My husband is a very dedicated father and often took time off from his job to help with sick kids when I could not take time off. We are a team. We had children together and we parent together. For goodness sake, this isn't the dark ages people!
It’s disturbing that Vance doesn’t seem to appreciate what his MiL did but takes it in the context of her being post menopausal and some biological grandma imperative. I admire my millennial children who have managed between co-parenting, networking and their own resources to handle child care independent of me.

As a childless Cat Lady & a mom of many furry kids over the years I get the feeling that the JD Vances of this world think my contribution to the world is minimal. Interesting to read how these men view the world around them, Even more jarring is the way they think all women - of childbearing age - or older, must fit into a neat little box and fulfill their intended role as predetermined by God, including of course all of us post menopausal women. How many new parents have parents or in-laws who can literally afford to take time off from their own jobs (one year!) in order to help with childcare? Quite apart from the two-parent and single-parent families that struggle with childcare because they don't have any family support, there are many people whose personal and financial circumstances make it difficult to have children - they don't have anyone they could lean on like this.
But as Vance says, what will those poor postmenopausal females do with their time if childcare becomes readily available for everyone??? They’ll have to continue their jobs as professors! The horror 😱

My folks would watch my son one to two days a week when I went back to work part time. They were retired and it was their 1st grandchild. They all had a blast. My son has the BEST memories as did my parents. That said, I would not have wanted my mom to give up HER part time job to allow me to work unless she really and truly wanted to do so. It;s a decision best made by each family without coercion or guilt.
It a yikes for sure and what does that mean for those that don’t have grandparents Vance. All great your mother-in-law being able to (can’t help but hear a subtext of disdain at the mother-in-law having a job from Vance) but what for those families that struggle and miss jobs and opportunities because they don’t get help with childcare

NEWS FLASH, JD - Usha's great aunt, Chulkuri Santhamma, teaches physics in Andhra Pradesh, India, at the impressive age of 96.
Not that it's anyone's business, but I'm post-menopausal and don't regret not having kids. We made that decision together and I've always gotten so much slack for it. Why did I get married if not to squeeze out babies? I never had a good relationship with my parents or grandparents. I have health issues that could have caused a child to have special needs. I never wanted to chance it. So, my husband and I have created our own life where we work and travel and see friends often. Oh, and we do have cats. Why isn't he getting the same amount of criticism for being a childless cat man? It's ridiculous and I don't understand why people care so much about other's lives and bodies.

This clearly shows his sexist perspective let alone agreeing with the idea that the whole purpose of life for post menopausal women is to take care of grandchildren full time. I'm curious if Vance and his wife have any nannies, babysitters or housekeepers now or is the grandmother still doing all the work in his family?
