It's confession time. Let's catch up on my low buy and some new (or old) makeup discoveries I've made this month.
Apologies for the changes in lighting throughout the video. I film in front of a large window and it was approaching golden hour when I was filming this, so there's a very weird tinge in the colour whenever the sun pops through. I'll figure this out eventually!

Love it!! Your makeup "mistake" is our gain...we get a lovely video!! Ya know in all my years of buying makeup, I've never bought anything from Clarins. There are just some brands that have been around forever (MAC, Clinique) that I just never gravitate to 🤔 I may have to check those Clarins lip oils tho...they looked absolutely gorgeous on you!!
As for March...oh my!! I was sick with Covid since February 27 including losing my sense of smell & taste!! Started feeling somewhat normal then caught a head cold last Tuesday. This is all after having the worst flu back in January. And we are 10 degrees colder than normal here so it doesn't seem much like Spring yet. So I haven't bought much of anything. Just some items from the recent Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale...primer & sunscreen. The only makeup item I got in March was a Charlotte Tilbury Pop Shot in Ultra Violet & two About Face Cherry Pick lip butters. Love them!! ❤💋
So glad to see a video Pop up today from you!! Always such a joy!! 🥰

Hi!! Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear how sick you've been for the last few months! You poor thing! It must have been so frustrating to lose your sense of taste and smell. Way to suck the fun out of life, hey?
Clarins really does have some gems! I totally know what you mean, though. There are also some brands that just never attract my attention. You'd love the Clarins lip oil in Intense Fuchsia! I thought of you when I swatched it in store! 💕
Which sunscreen did you buy? You did really well in March and have done really well this year! I need to follow your example. 😉

@@bornblushing I just looked up the Clarins intense fuchsia & you are so correct it is so me!! It would be a beautiful shade for Spring/Summer!! Those lip colors look beautiful on you - if you’re going to go off your low-buy, that’s the way to do it! And those Patrick Ta blushes are something else - I enjoy “She’s So LA” every time I wear it. The shades you chose look GORGEOUS!
I’ve never heard anyone talk about that mascara before. It sounds (and looks) great!
I’ve been tempted by SO MANY THINGS lately (also all “old” releases). So far I’ve only purchased two “utilitarian” items this year, but none of my “heart-fluttering” temptations were among them. I’m just living vicariously through everyone else for now. 😂
    Lovely earrings, by the way!

Whenever it comes to you needing to replace yours, I highly recommend this one!
I admire your restraint so much. I really need to channel my inner "Style Stumbler" this month! Isn't it funny how old releases can seem so much more thrilling than newer ones? Nothing quite like the hunt for hidden and forgotten treasure. 😉

@@bornblushing I have only purchased drugstore mascara for years since it’s something I replace so often. But I got a high end mascara as a Christmas gift and I have to say: the difference is drastic. It’s making me reconsider my drugstore policy. If I decide to go back to high end mascara, your tip is at the top of my list!
And yes - there’s something thrilling about rediscovering old treasures. Plus: a lot of the new releases that are so talked up online don’t seem to stand the test of time. Then the end-of-year declutter videos come out and then so many people declutter that hyped up thing.

Oh my goodness, the mini Biscuit is currently in my Sephora cart! It looks perfect💞I've been so into contouring lately. I feel like if we had Shoppers here in the States it would be too hard for me to resist a purchase with such casual accessibility! I actually just removed the Clarins lip oils (2 shades) from my cart last week because I really don't need any lip products right now but I've heard they are among the best as far as lip oils go. I've never heard of the Intense versions though. The two shades u purchased are SUCH good everyday muted reds! March was super long-feeling for me this year too.... I'll blame the drab weather for my slip-ups. I'm with you on purchasing old releases. I don't like hype usually. Sometimes it's love at first sight but other times I like to see if the product of interests holds up in reviews, after the hype as died down and THEN I'm interested! I ALSO purchased an old release this month 😂I got the Natasha Denona Love Palette and Blush from 2 years ago. I've wanted it since then and I love Valentine's releases so I purchased those last month during the Beautylish GC event. Oh goodness, we have so many makeup tastes in common lol Finally, someone who understands my mindset! ✨💋

We have such similar taste - I love it! Biscuit really is so perfect. I wish I had bought it sooner! And I think the mini size is great as well.
Oh yeah, and the Shoppers near me also carries Chanel. It's a danger zone! I haven't tried the original Clarins lip oils, but if they're anything like the intense ones, I imagine they're also really lovely.
That's funny that you're also into old releases. What's with that? I am rarely excited by an upcoming release, but what gets me going is revisiting old releases. Like you, I also like to see if a product is still being used and loved after the hype has died down, and I also like to find hidden and underrated gems.
Oooooooh, what an appropriate purchase during the Beautylish event! I've seen that Natasha Denona palette before as well - maybe a few months ago - and it did catch my eye. I've never tried anything by the brand, but I know it's very popular.

It's always so much fun to watch your videos, I hadn't been able to sit and watch the last ones, but thankfully I finally was able to and it's such a treat!💕 Biscuit is also a fave, I love using it as an eyeshadow also, WA is just my favorite brand, everything is beautiful and it's so great that they're doing minis now. Ugh, I also caved in and got more things than I had planned this past month, a few Lisa Eldridge lip products, also traveled and I got a few dresses and perfumes from Coqui Coqui, a Givenchy concealer which to be honest was kind of disappointing and I regret, a Royal Fern serum, because even though I have enough skincare products and recently got the WA Skin Activator serum, the founder of Royal Fern came to my country and was giving private consultations so, of course, I unnecessarily had to go and get another skincare product 😅. Oh, and I also discovered a brand of hair scrunchies called Good Squish and I'm obsessed, in less than a month I have ordered 6!😂 Again, it's the whole romance behind everything, they have a ballet collection and I'm obsessed with ballet, they had other ones inspired by movies, art, and just different things and they're just so freaking pretty and fun. Another recent temptation is the Byredo Remembrance eye palette I mean the name, the inspiration, the packaging, I'm suffering haha, the only thing holding me back (besides the price) is the size, I barely use eyeshadows so buying a palette with 18 colors is a bit intimidating for me. The Clarins lip oil looks really lovely, I'm always searching for lip products that are hydrating because my lips are always so dry and sensitive, and the shade is stunning on you, the blushes also look amazing, I recently have been more obsessed with blush and I really want to get a light cool pink blush. Thank you for sharing, hope you're doing well!🥰

    • @bornblushing
      @bornblushing  Год назад +1

Oooh, how is the WA skincare product? I am so curious! Please let me know your thoughts.
I feel exactly the same way you do regarding the Byredo palette. I am a quad/quint eyeshadow girl, so buying a large palette doesn't tempt me as easily, but the shades - while a bit same same - look stunning! Realistically, I don't see myself grabbing an 18-shade palette for regular use, so that helps keep the temptation at bay.
The Clarins lip oils are amazing. I've been wearing them nearly every day since getting them! They just make my lips feel so nourished while also adding some long-lasting colour. I'm happy I stumbled upon them. I've also been wearing Patrick Ta's She's Seductive very often as it's such an easy everyday shade that just adds that bit of something-something to the skin.
The romance of things just never ends! It's so fun to find new products that are amazing and that we love, but it can be SO addictive. So far, I haven't broken my makeup rule this month, but I've definitely spent a lot of time browsing other categories. 😂💕

@@bornblushing 😂I can relate! The WA serum is quite lovely actually, I've been using it for almost a month. To be honest, I haven't seen really remarkable results but I do enjoy that it hasn't irritated my skin and that it feels quite moisturizing, it has a very unique texture, to me it feels like a cross between an oil and a gel/essence, and makeup looks beautiful when I use it because I feel like it does leave your skin feeling softer and definitely very luminous (if you don't love to look too "dewy" then I wouldn't recommend it), in my opinion, at least so far, it's a "nice to have" sort of product. even tho i’m a new sub i miss your presence and look forward to the next update which sounds like new skincare routine? 🤪
you have a really lovely way of speaking too btw. you enjoy every item you talk about and make everything sound so exquisite 😂. i’m particularly curious about Sisley’s chocolat liner but will need to see it in person before spending $66 on a lip liner *gasp* lol. (or wait til i’m in Paris if any less haha.)
my low buy is going fairly well still. i’m trying my best to be mindful of what i bring in.
i like that you get excited over older releases too! i wish i could still get Dior’s Night Bird quint. and i’m still keen on Byredo’s Corporate Colors and Syren quints 😊.
recently i’ve been going back and forth about whether or not i’m excited enough to get the Chanel Le Blanc quad or Sonia G Mini Keyaki buffer brush. neither is a need which makes it harder to justify 😅.
i did decide to try the Chanel Baume in Dragee from the Le Blanc collection. had i known it was a new permanent item i may have waited but i’ve been curious to enjoy it in all the ways people recommend. unlike eyeshadow etc I don’t have an excess of face balms. (Okay I do have some but not a light pink haha.)
for the Sephora sale i think i will pick up the Haus Labs blush in Rose Quartz as it’s similar to the Chanel Le Blanc one, and the Tom Ford Forbidden Pink quad if it’s still avail. Those along with a larger jar of the Sol de Janeiro Beija Flor cream are my main picks 😇.
Lately I haven’t been quite as ecstatic about any particular thing which has made checking out less easy haha. But like you I don’t want to spend so much energy thinking about beauty all the time either so hopefully I get to a happier medium.
I celebrated my birthday recently and I think that with Spring has also brought out my interest in makeup more.
For example, I want to check out the new Byredo palette even tho I know the colors are a bit too similar.
And speaking of lip colors, I really want to try Hindash’ lippie in rose even tho I’d probably enjoy a more hydrating formula haha. It just seems like such a nice shade and I like that it can be built up in layers.
The saga continues. Excuse the novel I just wrote 😂.

Hi Jenn! Thanks so much for your sweet and thoughtful comment. Ooof, Sisley's lip liners have ruined me for all other lip liners, I'm afraid. Chocolat and Beige Naturel are my go-tos! Definitely insanely priced but oh so worth it, especially since I use them daily. ;)
How is the Chanel Baume? It does look very lovely. I like your picks for the Sephora sale as well! Believe it or not, I don't have any makeup in my Sephora cart - just a couple of haircare items and the Caudalie Beauty Elixir.
I'm glad to hear your low buy is going well. The good thing about those Byredo quints is that they're always around, so there isn't a sense of urgency surrounding them, and they aren't really talked about or used often online. Like you, the new Byredo palette also caught my eye. At first I wasn't interested because it all seemed so same same, but then I watched Alicia Archer's swatches of it and instantly thought, "Oooh!"
Happy birthday for recently! Celebrations + the change of seasons is a dangerous mix for awakening our Makeup Hungry Beasts, haha. I definitely relate.
It's so funny you mention that Hindash lippy as that, along with a couple of other Hindash items like his colour fluid, is what I've bought for makeup in April (again, an old release - what's with that?). I'll talk about them in my next video! ♥️

    • @hijennwu
      @hijennwu Год назад +1

@@bornblushing ty for the birthday well wishes! and OMG i’m SO elated for you to review Hindash bc that lippie and his color fluids are what i’ve been wanting ever since their release 😍.
i almost got one color fluid during the Beautylish sale (the taupe one) but the fun of them really seems to lie in having more to mix and play with so i decided to wait. (if i get the Sonia G mini buffer tho i will add 1 color fluid to cart to max out my rewards points lmao. and then decide if i want more.)
i bet the color fluids would pair beautifully with the new Byredo palette not that we need both 😂
i have Byredo’s Prismic and Kalahari which is why i’m torn. i looooved Kalahari last year. it was my most used palette. so i know i like the formula but do i like the colors of Remembrance more? not sure. it’s funny tho - the colors look rather similar but they are also colors we will wear often and can use for blush. i like how thin the formula is. only warning tho: the shadows can be a little delicate in the pan. it’s happened to one in my Prismic and some others’ Kalahari where it can start to lift up a bit. i gently push the shadow back down but not sure i would recommend storing it vertically if fitting in your case or traveling with it. you being excited about a bigger shadow palette tho is fun to hear!
part of the lament with older releases i long for is that i prioritize ltd ed and seasonal releases. it doesn’t save me from pining for the other ones, it just means more of my funds go to the newer stuff or things on sale 😂
but right now i’m wanting some fun fresh colors. that’s why Syren has my eye (even more than Remembrance) as well as Unearthly Cosmetics’ new Don’t Be Jelly palette that launches today. falling back into luxury, fude and ltd ed indie releases really hit my wallet last year along with niche fragrances and candles 🤣🤣🤣.
one thing i keep reminding myself of tho is how quick i am to ignore makeup as i acquire new ones (or shop/think about new ones.) it’s partly why i’ve resisted most shadow releases this year thus far. i keep telling myself most of them i can make do without.
i caved recently and got TF’s Apres Ski which i felt was also too similar at the time but now is similar in an everyday wearable way. usually when i’m able to swatch a palette in person it’s much harder to resist haha.
(this is why i haven’t been back to the Chanel boutique yet lol.)
as for the Chanel Dragee baume, i will follow-up on my thoughts as it just arrived yesterday! it did feel nice on the lips and offer a pretty shine, tho in the later dry down it wasn’t as cushy as a regular lip oil, gloss or balm. a light layer on my cheeks was lovely too. on my dehydrated skin it eventually soaks in a little more too. i’ve heard it’s great for fixing powdery eyeshadows, turning lippies into cream blush, and as a finishing step all over the face.
speaking of, how do you use your Caudalie spray? and which hair products are you getting from the Sephora Sale? x

    • @bornblushing
      @bornblushing  Год назад +1

@@hijennwu Oooh yes, I got the taupe colour fluid and the rose lippy. I'll definitely give you my thoughts!
Thanks for the warning regarding the Byredo palettes. Even on screen, those shadows do look so delicate! I love how creamy they seem, though. Definitely trying to ride this wave of temptation out! And you're right in that it's very unlike me to be tempted by a big palette!
Syren really is such an underrated eyeshadow quint! I reach for it often. Oh yes, niche fragrances and candles are a weakness of mine too as you know. The temptations just hit us from all angles!
Totally understand the appeal of limited edition items and why you would prioritize them. I'm quite similar with clothing. But you're right; the appeal lessens once we have the item!
I was eyeing TF's Apres Ski as it looks quite versatile. I've been eyeing Nude Dip lately (again, another old news release) as I love the idea of playing with cool tones in the summer for some contrast.
So I notice zero skin-benefiting effects of the Caudalie spray. For me, it's just a relaxing mist to put on my face, so I value it for its aromatherapy qualities (it does manage to calm me down a bit if I am stressed out) more than anything else. I keep a mini in my purse, which is handy for stressful work days. ;) Oh boy, in my Sephora cart... is the Dyson hairdryer and an Oribe round brush. I've been pining after that hairdryer for years, and now that I'm no longer working from home, I really feel like I'll get so much use out of the dryer when I get ready in the morning. I have the AirWrap, but the hairdryer on that isn't intense enough for my liking!
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Chanel Baume! x

i purchased my Sephora sale list along with the sunscreen kit and added nothing else, as of yet hehe. i’m considering the Merit serum but it’s not a need. it just looks gorgeous for the summer as it’s a lighter formula.
Tom Ford’s nude dip would be gorgeous on you! And I still recommend the Byredo palette if they are your colors, just know they are best left at home 🤣. Some of the shadows have a “stick” to them and others a sophisticated sparkle. The mattes are thinner in texture and the satins lay nicely on the cheeks too as blush. The formula is different from the quints but I enjoy them nonetheless. Beauty Unhyped wrote a great blog post on it too. Happy to send you swatch images from my Byredo shop that they emailed me if helpful! Unless you’re trying to move past the temptation 😂. TF Apres Ski is like the portable version of it w/o the silvers 🤪.
I just noticed Sephora is carrying the Shark styler too! I’m not great at styling my hair but would totally enjoy that Dyson dryer as well, what a treat!
OH! And a new contender that’s gotten me extra excited is the rerelease of the Viseart Coy palette in a mini size. That looks like a fantastic Spring addition. It doesn’t fully replace my interest in the Chanel Delice quad but it’s a good distraction 😂😍.

Great video! Just a question, is the clarins intense oil an actual lip oil or is it more of a lip stain like the rare beauty one?

Ooh, great question! I would say it fits somewhere in between Dior's lip oils and the Rare Beauty lip stains. It is very moisturizing and nourishing, but it doesn't have that slip that's typically characteristic of lip oils. I hope that helps! ❤️
