    Hi all, firstly thanks to many of you for wanting me to make a #detergentcomparision video. Sorry for the delay and thank you for your patience.
    As the title suggests, this video is a comparative study of #dishwasherdetergents and #tablets. It's a comprehensive video in which I have compared these on the basis of various parameters.
    This whole research has taken me 3 months. I've been running the 29 minutes quick cycle or the 1 hr 25 min eco vario cycle for the cleaning of dishes daily. Also I've tried to maintain almost the same kind of greasy utensils and similar load so as to arrive at a conclusion. I kept noting down the type of load(dishes), the wash cycle, the detergent or tablet used and the final outcome, i.e. the wash quality. I gave a rating to each wash on a percentage basis. After 3 months I've arrived at the above results by taking the average based on various parameters.
    Actually I even recorded the different programme cycles showing use of different tablets and detergents and have made videos of the same. Since I found it difficult to incorporate in these video clippings, I am uploading those separately.
    Since the comparision is between 3 detergents and 3 tablets, the video is very elaborate and almost of 15 minutes duration. I couldn't have done justice if it was to be kept shorter.
    So I would request all those of you who genuinely want to know about the availability, cost, efficiency and many more things about these different detergents and tablets; to watch the video till the end.
    Here I have compared Finish, Fortune, IFB detergents and Finish, Fortune, Crystale tablets.
    Hope you find the video helpful in choosing the detergent best suited for your use. Please watch the video and give your feedback and comments.
    Please watch my other videos in the playlist.

      Another very important aspect I would like to point out (& hope you tell the viewers in your future videos) is that of the Water Quality of one's locality.
      At my place, I never witnessed any ill effects of hard water (particularly for laundry purposes) & in these 26 years never gave a thought about the water quality as everything seemed "normal".
      But while going through the manual I got the impression that water quality was of utmost significance when it comes to wash results. So, I decided to go ahead & find about the same. Fortunately, I spotted two surveys online (one being a State sponsored survey & other being by a University) wherein the water quality index for various localities of my region (35 km radius) was mentioned.
      Two my surprise, water quality of my locality (2 km radius) was 29° Clarke (Imperial Units) & consequently I had to set the Water Hardness setting of my dishwasher to H6 (on a scale of H1-7).
      Now, a few important aspects:
      1) Dishwasher manufacturers advise NOT to use Tablets & Powerballs & instead recommend using Salt, Detergent, & Rinse Aid SEPARATELY, in requisite amounts, if water hardness of your locality is greater than 25° Clarke.
      2) Since the dishwasher manual (of my model) provides water hardness indexes only in two units (°Clarke & millimoles/Litre) for corresponding Water Softening System Settings ("H - setting") & frequently, the available Water Surveys cite hardness mostly in SI units etc (ppm, mg/Litre etc), online converters can be used to make the requisite conversions into desired units.
      Also, surveys cite hardness as Calcium Hardness (Ca+2), Magnesium Hardness (Mg+2) & Total Hardness (TH); it goes without saying that the latter most is the appropriate one for our considerations
      3) Water hardness often varies significantly (sometimes drastically) within the various localities (2-3 km radii) of a region (15-50 km Survey Area units) so its important to consider the water hardness for YOUR LOCALITY & not the Mean/Average of the entire region (meant for statistical purposes)
      Tip: Just google: " 'Your City/District Name' Water Hardness" & you should find relevant documents online for the Water Hardness in your region.
      4) If your region has significant levels of water hardness, using a DESCALER once in a while is recommended to get rid of any lime scales & prolong the life of the appliance (dishwasher, washing machine, coffee makers etc)

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  6 лет назад +2

      Ankit Yadav Thank you Ankit for your suggestion. I am very well aware of this most important aspect. I keep telling, writing in replies to my viewers all the time - both about water hardness, salt setting and also about lime scale formation.
      Incidentally I am in the process of making a video on TDS and how to get to know one's water hardness checked etc. and the solution to it. Because as I have told explaining through video is better than just replying.
      I don't know whether you've seen my other dishwasher videos. I have a whole lot of videos in the playlist of dishwasher demo videos.
      Since I've fairly soft water, I haven't found the need to do descaling till date. But I'm about to upload that video as well for the benefit of my viewers who keep writing about that.
      In case you've time please go through my other videos as well as the interactions with my viewers.
      Anyway thanks for your concern. I will use your points in my video, though I was thinking on the same lines for my video about water hardness.
      Thank you so much. Appreciate your effort to get to know things which would benefit your appliance. That's how we in our family think. We believe in prolonging the life of our appliances and gadgets and do whatever is required for that by way of basic maintenance, handing with utmost care, follow user manuals, and so on. That's why I can proudly say that all our appliances, gadgets last for A.. ...G.......E......S!! I consider this too, a way of doing your bit to the environment, in this day and age of use and throw! I'm sure you will agree with me!

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  6 лет назад +2

      You have shared a lot of knowledge which I appreciate deeply. Although I am aware of many things, there are still lot of points like "water hardness in one's locality" and other points on which I now stand enlightened. I sincerely thank you for taking out valuable time to write on all this in detail. It is my turn to take a bow!
      It is sad that dishwasher companies and technicians and service personnel are seldom knowledgeable on these very important aspects and thus end up giving wrong advice to customers/users. This not only hampers the efficiency of the machine but also the product and brand as a whole some times. At most times, customers are left to research and fend for themselves.
      Other than mentioning about the importance of water quality and the related salt and rinse aid settings, I have not mentioned in so much detail about hardness related issues as you have shared.
      Thank you once again.

      No mam, I was motivated to write at length only after seeing this comprehensive video & the prolonged effort put in to make it.
      I was surprised by meagre ratings & berating which certain people expressed regarding dishwashers on Amazon etc, which I otherwise feel are a handy appliance. I was left wondering those 5-10% people may be seeing poor results due to inappropriate Water Softening System settings.
      (Btw if my memory serves me right, for my Bosch Dishwasher (similar to yours but Indian Model -IN) the factory/default Water Softening Setting is set to "H4" & that for Rinse Aid Consumption is at "r5" (on a scale of 0 to 7) which is appropriate for most people.
      Even better if you could make some videos on:
      1) Advanced dishwasher settings (Water Softening System settings, Drying Settings, Rinse Aid consumption settings, Water Heating System Settings etc)
      2) Hack Videos: (Like the one where you cut tablets into two) Operating a dishwasher when you either run out or are running low on either Salt or Rinse Aid (by setting the corresponding parameter ("H" or "r" to 0 if you've already ran out of them; or 1-3 if you are running low on them ).
      [You may get away without doing so, but it will prolong the duration of the wash cycle]
      I feel an awareness of dishwasher settings paves the way for customising them as per one's requirements & goes a long way in fully exploiting the potential of this boon of a device.
      3) A comparative review of Descalers available in India & their utility.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 года назад +1

      Hi, tablets always have an edge over detergent as they are a combination of detergents, salt, rinse aid and other special ingredients in some types like the 5 in 1.
      If your water quality is very good, I mean soft water, just using tablets will suffice for a good cleaning.
      Having said this I would like to add that tablets are way too expensive compared to detergents. Moreover it's not ideal to use a tablet for a short program cycle as it will not be fully utilised and leave behind soapy utensils. And that's the reason I recommend use of detergent to many of my viewers who have hard water supply.
      You can watch me other detergent videos in this playlist below :

      Hi, from what you say I think your water must be fairly soft. I think you can try setting the salt and rinse aid level to level 2.
      Try washing in this setting for a few days and if it gives desired results, then continue with the same settings. Else increase or decrease by a level based on the results.
      Hope this helps.

    We bought the Bosch dishwasher 10 days ago. we are using auto & eco program but after washing the dishes if I fill water in a tumbler or in a vessel from aquaguard the water will be full of bubbles & sopy bubbles around the vessel . I am using ifb dishwash powder, ifb rinse aid bosch salt & we are having corporation water not bore water & I don't know what is the problem and also I asked the technician he is telling use only finish products .I think you may help me .

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 года назад

      Hi Suresh Babu, since you have mentioned you're using corporation water, the water must be very soft but I would like to know your salt and rinse aid settings. Because much depends on these settings.
      For soft water salt can be at H01 and rinse aid at r01.
      Sometimes if you use more detergent for a shorter program, the dishes will be soapy. Correct quantity of detergent has to be used based on the degree of soiling based on which a suitable program has been selected.
      Check these while running the cycle for a day or two and let me know.
      Thank you.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 месяца назад

      Hi Manimala, this could be due to any of the following:
      1. More detergent used than required for your load
      2. Rinse aid setting is higher
      3. Correct program not selected based on the load.
      Solutions to the above:
      1. Please set your salt and rinse aid levels based on water hardness. The factory setting is usually kept high. If your water is soft you can set them at level 01 or 02. Please check your manual for the same.
      2.Always use the correct amount of detergent based on how soiled your dishes are.
      3. Choose the correct program based on your dish load.
      Hope you find this helpful.

    Thank you ma'am for your detailed analysis and information. We purchased Bosch dishwasher SMS66GI01I three weeks back and now using it daily. Before that I watched all your videos on dishwasher and they were very much useful for both buying and using the appliance.
    At present we are using Finish products. The borewell water in our house is hard and we have installed a water softener (MORF) for that. I use the hardness setting from H2 to H7 depending on the water quality (due to the time of regeneration of water softener).
    By using Finish products we are getting good results at present. Your comparison of the various detergents is very much useful.
    It will be more useful for me if you let me know the better alternatives for salt and rinse aid., because Finish products are highly priced. Thanks in advance mam.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  2 года назад +2

      Hi Stephen, sorry for the delayed reply.
      Thanks for watching my videos and finding them useful.
      Your water being very hard, consumption of all the consumables will be very high and hence expenses will be more as compared to those having soft water. So, I can understand your concern.
      At the same time, because of
      hard water, you cannot do without salt and rinse aid.
      For very hard water, from my experience, I think Fortune detergent should give you very good cleaning. Not only Fortune detergents but also their salt and rinse aid are also less priced as compared to Finish. You can try using Fortune brand which will definitely reduce your expenses.
      Also Finish is more suited for soft to medium hard water.
      Some of my viewers have mentioned about using "water softener salt" by Eureka Forbes, which comes in 10kg packs, and is just priced at ₹350. Buying and using that would definitely reduce your major expense.

    And my water is soft. Can you suggest a solution??

      Hi Amit, there is nothing to worry about this. In the short cycle the rinse time being less, the water with dirt etc. which is supposed to get washed away settles in these dishes which have ridges on the top.
      You can just drain it off and if required rinse it under the tap.

Any guess as to how many grams of detergent is present in the finish tablet (all in one max powerball or the basic classic powerball) cosidering the tablet to be of maybe 18-20gm? Similarly how much salt & rinse aid is used in a single tablet? I tried contacting the customer care but no one answers the call

      Hi Praveen, for dishwasher we need detergent, rinse aid and salt. To the best of my knowledge, the cheapest brand is Fortune and the most expensive would be Finish. Monthly cost of all these are dependent much on the water hardness at your place. The rough cost could be between ₹300 to ₹600 or 700. If water is soft, consumption of the above will be less and if it is hard, consumption will be more. Electricity consumption normally comes to about 30 to 40 units. You can know more about the above and more in my FAQ videos whose link I am sharing below -
      ruclips.net/video/kC5EMmYnxXQ/видео.html
      One thing we should remember that dishwasher cleans utensils with minimum water and in the most hygienic manner without touching by hand.

      Thanks Mac jc, for your thoughts. You're right, whatever research I've done for a few months using these detergents are only an indicator, they are not to be followed as it is. I keep repeating in most of my videos and also in my answers to viewers' queries, that wash quality, detergent performance, consumption of detergents, salt and rinse aid, all depends on the water hardness.
      This result I arrived at, was in my machine, washing my different type of soiled dishes, in the water in my locality using various detergents.
      For me Finish gives better results than Fortune. I've mentioned that Fortune tablets are better than their detergent.
      Moreover this video was done almost two years back. May be the quality of some detergents would have changed/improved by now.

      Hi, sorry that you're confused about choosing the right detergent for your dishwasher. Has LG recommended any particular detergent brand?
      How is your water quality - hard or soft? Effective cleaning depends on that. Try any brand like Finish detergent or Crystale tablets (as they come in a small pack of 18) initially. Both are very good. Finish tablets are expensive. Also there is one variety called Clean n Fresh tablets, you can try that too. Buy one brand at a time, and try using it in various wash Cycles for different types and degree of soiled dishes and utensils. I think you can slowly understand which one suits your requirement. Also you've to learn the right quantity of detergent required,by trial and error, though initially you can start using 1 to 1&1/2 tbsp. If you're using tablet, one per wash cycle.
      I've also shown videos in which I've run programme cycle using half tablet. You can see that video in my channel, but try that later.
      I hope I was able to clear your confusion a bit. Please write to me in case of any further doubts.

      Hi, the analysis on various detergents and tablets and the conclusion drawn from it, is solely on my usage in my dishwasher based on water quality in my area and the type of dishes I load.
      This can vary depending on water quality.
      Right from beginning I've been using Finish and getting good results, though I know that it is far expensive as compared to the other brands available. From my experience, Finish and Crystale both work fine for me.
      People have to decide on their own as to which suits their water and machine best, by trial and error and research which I've done a lot in my 8½ years of using a dishwasher.
      Hope this answers your question.

      @NM, you have not mentioned what is your water hardness and your salt and rinse aid settings. Detergent brand is best chosen based on the quality of one's water. And if the detergent powder is not fully dissolved, the reasons could be quite a few. Detergent powder itself is moist and lumpy, detergent chamber has water, excess detergent used for the program or the degree of soiling of dishes, etc. Please check and take care of the above issues and your problem should get solved. Thanks.

    Do we need to add salt..... If using 3 in one tablet

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 года назад +1

      That depends on your water hardness. For hard water even with tablets you have to use salt and rinse aid, as the content of these would not be enough for giving a good cleaning of dishes.
      Upto a certain level of hardness, though they are not required.

    Just happen to see your video about dishwasher.i m using the dishwasher for the past 6 months.i m confused about the rinseaid.actually I have learnt that all the dishwasher detergent are similar to those what we are using for our clothes which are very harmful and toxic.so would like to know the natural alternatives..

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 года назад

      Yes Mansha kutty, you are right. Dishwasher detergents and rinse aids like all soaps, laundry detergents are chemicals indeed. But I have been using them and try to take precautions like just rinsing the washed utensils before use when I take them out from the shelf. There are some non chemical plant based detergents available online but I have not had a chance to use them. Regarding rinse aid, I am not aware of an effective alternative. But rinse aid is optional. You can choose not to use it. As and when any good organic dishwasher detergent comes, you can expect a review in my channel. Thanks for watching and your support.

      Hi , try Fortune or IFB detergent with salt and rinse aid, with their proper settings based on water hardness in your area. Try out over a long period, using all program cycles.
      If one of these is suitable, stick to it. Else try another brand like Finish.
      You can arrive at the correct brand suitable for your machine and water type by trial and error over a period of time.

      Hi Jyoti, have you kept the correct setting of salt and rinse aid based on your water hardness?
      This could happen if water is hard and you are using a high temperature program. . Try to run the Eco program.

      Which detergent suits you depends on the type of water at your place, If you are having soft water, Finish gives good results. Whereas if you have hard water, brands like Fortune are found to be better. If you are not sure, try one after the other and stick to the brand that suits your conditions.

    Thank u so much for this great video made with so much effort. I had been using Finish since long but now switched over to Crystale
    Got a new Crystale packet today.
    There's 1 more issue with IFB detergent
    Although it cleans well, in a place like Mumbai where humidity is high, the IFB detergent tends to absorb moisture and solidify.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  2 года назад

      Thanks for your appreciation Aravind.
      Good that you are trying out a new brand of tablets. Crystale is very good indeed. I've been using it for more than 4 years now. Nowadays you get more variants in Crystale, one of which I have started trying out. I will be coming out with a video of the same soon.
      You are right that detergent gets solidified in humid climates. This can be the case with any detergents, more so in the case of IFB because of the round and full open round containers of IFB, in which the detergent is totally exposed whenever you open the container, as compared to other detergents which come in containers which have a smaller opening and hence they are not much exposed to air while using.
      Thanks for sharing your experience.
      Good luck to your experiments with other detergents and tablets.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 года назад

      Hello @Pandia Dorai, of course a dishwasher does not need a stabiliser and hence no manufacturer will advise you to use one. Since the heating element is failing regularly, the most likely cause is voltage fluctuation. Some brand manuals mention that if the voltage goes beyond 300 V then the heating element is likely to fail. So for peace of mind, you can go in for any reputed brand stabiliser of minimum 3 KVA rating. I am not using one, so I cannot recommend anything blindly; you could try something like V Guard, Everest, Uni Stab. It can be wall mounted to avoid the heavy weight on top of the dishwasher. In the unlikely event of your problem persisting even after fitting a stabiiser, you may have to get the wiring/cable inside the dishwasher checked for possible loose connections/faults. Normally the wiring cannot be repaired, the entire wiring set usually is replaced. This is just FYI.
      Regarding your other question, appliance recycling is not an organised activity in India. There are very few official recyclers. Many large showrooms sell items with exchange. They have some connections with scrap agents. You may have to pursue that channel for more details.
      Hope your problem gets resolved. Good luck.

You could also watch my video in which I have explained about water hardness, salt and rinse aid setting and their importance in dishwasher. Click here to watch that - ruclips.net/video/-jHUQwX82l4/видео.html I am sure your problem will get solved.
      Thanks.

      I did not get any problem for more than 8 years. To take extended warranty or not is an individual decision. If you have hard water and lot of power cuts or voltage fluctuations, you could take it for peace of mind. Thanks.

      Yes, you can use it. But it depends on your water quality. If you do not get good cleaning results you may have to try out other brands

    Hello mam, is finish classic good tablet. It is much cheaper as compared to as in one and quantom max but many reviews show that white layer forms after using finish classic tablets. What has been your experience. Also if we use finish classic tablet should we still use rinse aid and salt?

      Hi, I've used Finish Classic tablets and they have given me good cleaning results. Yes the Quantum max gives amazing cleaning in any cycle because it has a few additional ingredients.
      In case you use Finish Classic tablets, you may have to use rinse aid and salt if your water is hard. Else you can reduce the setting to the minimum. If your water is very soft then you can try without rinse aid and salt. Based on the results you can adjust the settings.
      Hope I've made the point clear.

      There are many brands of detergents available online these days, I haven't tried all the brands. While I made this video 2 years back, I did not come across this though I think they have been making dishwasher detergents since long. I checked out and found that, IFB dishwasher consumables is manufactured by the same people.
      Thanks for your suggestion. I'll try out when possible and post my review.
