If all you want is one or two ears of corn, the best way to boil it is not to boil, but to microwave for 2 minutes.

Why? Why do you put the husks in there?
The boiled husks subtly highlight the taste of the corn. Some people also add the silk of the corn to boil in the big pot, for extra flavor.
Boiled corn will taste good even without the husks or silk. This version, with husks, is how I've been eating corn since I was a kid and we enjoyed it every time, so I shared my childhood recipe.

It's better putting it the microwave. 4 minutes per ear with husk on. Cut the fat end of the ear off right where the corn starts. Then hold tip of the ear with a hot pad and squeeze like tube of toothpaste. Corn will completely come of the husk with the hairs. Taste is not all boiled out.
