- PORTMEIRION WALK FEATURING CASTELL DEUDRAETH, CENTRAL PIAZZA AND THE ROUND HOUSE
"Prisoner in Portmeirion”
Filmed 8th October 2015
Post-production completed 24th March 2016
I am very excited to present this "Solitary Rambler" film shot in Portmeirion, known as "The Village" in the 1960's cult TV series "The Prisoner".
I was a great fan of “The Prisoner”, and during my few days touring Snowdonia I visit the wonderful Mediterranean style Portmeirion, the location used as “The Village” in the TV series.
Filmed in Portmeirion in the county of Gwynedd. Locations include Castell Deudraeth, Central Piazza, the Hotel Portmeirion and the Round House.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.
Any other names credited in this film, i.e. Bob Morgan and Martin Roy, are pseudonyms, which I used at the time of making this film. However, I no longer use these pseudonyms as I want viewers to be clear that my films are completely my own work.

"The Solitary Rambler" is my series of amateur films of my journeys in the countryside accompanied by my own musical scores, which I compose and perform on my Yamaha keyboard.
Please note that, as with all the films I make, this is not actually intended to be an extensive guide to the area. This is a mini-movie of my personal journey along the walk, in which I often share some of my own personal stories.

Omg what an Episode.. I am a massive Prisoner fan and visited the village a few years back.. Love how you composed the music to represent the original series themes.. Absolutely wonderful 😊
Thanks Glenn, I remember being especially excited about filming here at the time. I tried to get a flavour of the Prisoner, so yes I played a few of the themes from the series as well as composing my own in the style of that music 👍
Thanks interesting walks around the Northampton parts of the country love the descriptions of the places you have visited Ann Deakin WarwickUK 19th November 2022

I too am a Prisoner fan . Have been a 6 0f 1 member for many years and have visited the Village many times as well. Well Done !
Thanks Gregg! :-)
Ca m'a fait pleurer, très émouvant, merci ❤🙏
This was brilliant.
Those twenty minutes have just flown by.
I knew from those first three notes that the music would be the star of this film,it must have been great fun to do.
I too used to love the Prisoner, mainly because it was so weird,I'm going to have to go onto RUclips tomorrow evening and watch the Dance of the Dead episode.
Thank you so much for sharing your day out here with us.
Pete.
I was very excited about filming this one whilst I was staying in Snowdonia, so of course I had to feature as many recognisable locations that were in the Prisoner, as well recording my own versions of some of the music that was created for the series. Haven't watched the Prisoner myself for a while now., must dig out my DVD collection :)
Thoughtful, well researched and beautifully filmed videos.I love Portmeirion and this is a great video.
Awesome, thank you! I really appreciate your kind comments. All the best 👍
Being a member of the Prisoner Appreciation Society, this video brought back some wonderful memories of my trips to ‘The Village’. Must go back at some point. Paul Beachcroft
I've always been a great fan so coming here to make this film was a real kick for me :)
@@solitaryrambler well you are definitely not a number, you are a free man Patrick...
@@solitaryrambler Been back here today Patrick on my 59 birthday. Still much the same, except the main fountain, from which Rover once appeared, wasn't working 😭😭😭😭😭

Fantastic as always, many thanks Patrick and Bob,had a great night watching a load of these tonight.
Thanks again Pete. Bob is still me. It was a pseudonym I used, as was Martin Roy, but the work has been all mine. I've stopped using the pseudonyms now as I want viewers to be sure it is actually all my own work. Cheers, Patrick :)
Thank you Patrick for your reply. I've already watched all yours videos, and now I'm watching it all again, each for the second time.
I have just reached the number 53, and i must say, it's a really beautiful place. It's a pity the series "the Prisoner" did not pass here in Brazil.
Have a nice day.
Thanks for watching all the videos Sandro. Portmeirion is lovely as you see and it was exciting for me to film there back in 2015 as I loved the Prisoner :)
What a lovely overview of and tribute to a truly beguiling place. You capture the magic well here. :-D
Thank you so much, what lovely comments! Thanks for watching :-)
Wow so many memories of this brilliant TV programme, you must have really enjoyed your day out there. Be seeing you!
👍
This must have been wonderful for you to visit Patrick , i recall The Prisoner , but found it to complicated to follow , i am a simple fellow , but its set in the most beautiful location , My favorite Programmes back thenn were The Champions and randell and hopkirk deceased .. i do remember dangerman too ....I am glad you got to visit Port Meirion and i could tell by your expessions just how much this mean,,t to you ...Thank you for sharing this is the second viewing of the film and it was as enjoyable this time as before ..... Frank and Lee ....
It was an absolute joy spending the day here filming and an easier one me too as I didn't have many miles to walk. I hadn't realised you'd watched this before so thanks for doing so again. This video has gained second highest number of views and that may be down to me forwarding the link to a few Prisoner fan group pages. Thanks for watching again Frank and Lee. Cheers, Patrick :-)
great work. The Prisoner was first fully witnessed for me in the 70's...I was too young for the 60's viewing...but it resonates with me fully..a work of genius.
Thank you! I was also too young, but I first saw it when it was repeated in 1983, blew me away and still does when I watch it :)
Stayed there many times. Such a beautiful, calm and relaxing place. Looks like you had gorgeous weather too
Thanks for watching. Yes I was lucky with the weather during this shoot back in 2015 👍
Thanks for the tour of The Village. I wish i could go there, but i live in Florida and i can't afford to travel there. The program The Prisoner was unusual and that's why it kept me interested. I would like to join The Prisoner fan club.
My pleasure and thank you for watching :)
@@solitaryrambler You're very welcome.
beautiful film. you do the place justice. i went to porteirion on a rainy day. almost had the place to myself.
Many thanks for your kind comments and for watching Andy, much appreciated! 😊
Thank you for sharing this, I have been watching your videos as I am going to the wye valley next week and tripped over this.
That's great to know. Many thanks for watching and hope you enjoy the Wye Valley :)
I recently revisited my Prisoner box set . Thanks for this , Patrick .
Very welcome Jim, I've got the boxset too! :)
Excellent music you arranged and played . I remember watching Danger man ,and the Prisoner in the 60s ,it was the Lotus 7 in the first episode that drew me in ,certainly not the spy stories that I enjoyed but intriguing. Always going to Wales ? but the magnet of England holds me .Oh I did go to Abergele once to pick up a model traction engine, after seeing this video we must visit .Beautifully filmed Patrick .
I've always been a fan of the Prisoner, so whilst I was staying in Porthmadog for a few days towards the end of 2015 it was a great opportunity to visit and film Portmeirion. I tried to capture the spirit of the series by playing some of the music used in that programme as well as some of my own. Thanks again Stuart. Cheers, Patrick :)
In 2020 I'd be okay with being a prisoner in the village if I had provisions. Great video.
Many thanks for watching! :)
Awesome nature place. Do beautiful and green. Thanks for sharing your adventure. God bless!! So calm and very relaxing.I found a new friend to follow again.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching 👍
The estuary alone is stunning and worth the trip, but the village is beautiful. We have many gems in Wales that many outsiders don't know about. That's not necessarily a bad thing though.... 🤫 😏
👍
I became a Prisoner fan in the late 70's when they showed the series in Canada.Fantastic video of all the buildings in Portmeirion and the series and boy does it bring back a lot of good memories.Great work Solitary Rambler!! I hope you do another with a different twist. This video is as enjoyable as was the series.
Glad you enjoyed it, many thanks for your kind comments and for watching 👍
Love that 🎼 Parallel music score 👌
Thank you for your kind comments and thanks for watching :)
Because of the Prisoner, I took a 1-week vacation from Los Angeles to London in November of 1978. But alas, Portmeirion was "closed" for the winter and too far for my budget travals. I did however see the White Cliffs of Dover and and later Stonehenge. I had a good time in England. Someday I will make it to Portmeirion. Be seeing you.
Hope you manage to get there one day, it's a fab place. Be seeing you! :)
A still tongue makes a happy life.
This is a beautiful video. Cool opening for the episode. Wish I could afford going but that is about as much of a dream as anything that appeared on that show (in terms of how it felt).
Greetings from Costa Rica. Faved and subscribed.
Be seeing you…
Glad you enjoyed it! Many thanks for all the kind words and for subscribing. Be seeing you! 👍
Very well done, thank you.
Thanks Mirko! :-)
great place and a great video, will have to go there again soon...
Thanks for watching! Enjoy your visit 👍
@@solitaryrambler Will do. Be Seeing You LOL.....
Lovely! You nailed the weather during your visit. Beautiful light and clouds! Did you have to pay extra for that?... Excellent job with the music. Very enjoyable all 'round. Cheers!
Ha ha I was very lucky with the weather on this day especially as it was early November back in 2015. Thanks for your great comments and for taking the time to watch. Be seeing you! Cheers, Patrick :)
I've recently watched the Prisoner again, I'm up to the last episode, I think my favourite episode is The Schizoid Man. I've been to Portmeirion once I liked it there, I got a Prisoner shirt from the shop, I presume the shop is still there in 2023.
Been the once been seeing you!
Orange alert! Be seeing you :)
Half expecting Rover to jump out and bounce toward you.
Now that would have made my day! :)
Now that was good.
Thank you for watching :)
" Where am I ? "
In the Village! 👍
@@solitaryrambler 🤗
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own. I love this series but ehen I met Derren Nesbitt a few years ago, he did not enjoy his time on it. Shame.
I didn't know that about Derren Nesbitt, that is a shame.
Really enjoyed this, really captures the beauty of Portmeirion. Great music and lots of helpful info too! For further details on the series and location, readers might like to visit www.theunmutual.co.uk - the World's largest Prisoner website.
Thanks very much, so pleased you liked it. It sure is a wonderful place. Cheers, Patrick :-)
