- Special guest Catherine McGoohan unveils a bust of her father Patrick at Network's 'Fall in - The Prisoner at Fifty' 50th anniversary event in Portmeirion on 29/9/17, celebrating Patrick McGoohan's classic series, filmed by The Unmutual Website at www.theunmutual....
I have been to Portmerion twice , such a beautiful place and the perfect setting for the brilliant, enigmatic Prisoner series created by Patrick McGoohan.
Patrick McGoohan was a mastermind and amazing actor and an amazing person. I know your father hated these type of things Katherine but he did love that people were able to think about the show. I need to visit there someday. Would be an absolute amazing thing to do.
Amazing actor & after Catherine's tribute to the artist - it's a pity we did not get to see the bust of her father in detail.
Oddly enough Ive just watched Patrick in a play online as George Bernard Shaw. My father loved him as Dangerman. I think the Bust is a warm and lasting tribute to a gentleman who brought a touch of excitement to the screen.
I love hearing Catherine talk about her father. It's wonderful that she was able to do this. If I had been able to participate in this I think I would have cried.
Booked my room today. I’m finally going to visit this place in mid October. Can’t wait :)
Time and life are short, I stayed here with the kids in 1997, 30 years after the Prisoner.. it is now over 50 years... where does it go?
Yup, life is but a dream.
Congratulations to the McGoohan's family!
Beautiful sentiments!
Catherine, your father earned this several times over. I too need visit Portmeirion.
Though I dislike the term, 'bucket list', a visit would seem just the thing these days.
My contemporaneous, childhood memories/impressions color my enjoyment of The Prisoner more than fifty years on. It's sheer grace and wonder to recall some scenes that I hadn't watched since I was age eleven or so. I have a greater appreciation for the talents, poise and charm of Georgina Cookson and Rachel Herbert (especially for her being a ringer for my late-fiancée) and it makes me wistful watching/rewatching the episodes that are so few yet so precious.
Too much of Ms.McGoohan's speech was "muffled" making it so hard to understand her! Pity.
Dem Bones, Dem Bones!
They walk around, dad.
"I wasn't sure about this. I wanted something informal...

They should have spoofed this show on GET SMART. Imagine Max as No.6 and Siegfred as No.2.
Would have been funny if when she opened the curtain Rover sprang out.
You can keep your Prisoner blazers, Caterham 7's and even a free years lease of a Portmeirion cottage.
I'll settle for a hug from Catherine McGoohan any day! BCNU.
