    ► FAQ
    Q• Why do you speed up some of the footage in your videos?
    A• We don't, we film it as time-lapse footage. We do not have the battery capacity or data storage to film in real time as our cruises can last up to 7 or 8 hours. We use to the time-lapse footage to help tell the story of movement rather than showcase the scenery. We limit the amount of time-lapse shots we use in each vlog.
    Q• Why are the videos so behind?
    A• This summer we decided we really wanted to just enjoy travelling on the boat. If we felt like cruising we would. It turened out we cruised a lot which meant we filmed more and had less time to edit. This meant the edits got really far behind. It was not intentional its just a consequence of us looking after our own mental health. Don't worry we are not rushing, we are just trying to enjoy the adventure.

    The Hebden Picture house is mega. They show ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ every Christmas Eve, it’s become a bit of a tradition for many families who all stand to applause at the end credits. What’s more you can settle down to the film with a proper brew, in a proper cup!

    Hi Guys, glad you enjoyed the area, this is my back yard, it can be evil but beautiful in the winter, it's also the same in the
    summer, being in a valley you take what you can get 😂😂❤

    I lived in Walsden for a couple of years in the late 90's.Some great walks in that area along the canal and surrounding hills. Loads of wildlife, Falcons on the tops, Kingfishers between Tod and HB. I saw Lost in Space in that cinema, was so impressed I went back the next day to watch it again. Brought back some great memories for me. Thanks.

    Happy New Year to Perseverance and her crew! I did see that those 3 disliking chickens were here LOL. Can I put in a small request? Herons, I need more herons please. Beautiful birds without the stupid noises that geese and ducks bring. Stay safe and stay cruising ^5

    Todmorden is a lovely little town, once half in Lancashire and half in the West Riding of Yorkshire. Fully West Yorkshire since the boundary changes of 1974. It once ran it's own municipal bus service (jointly owned with British Railways), over quite an extensive local network, with an aged fleet of Leyland double deckers. More recently, it had (pre Covid) an excellent Thursday market, where everything from art to laptops could be purchased. I look forward to my next visit, once this horror is ended... whenever that is.

    • @MinimalList
      @MinimalList  3 года назад +2

      We really liked Tod too. There was a market on but we obviously wanted to stay away from the crowds. Hope you get to visit again soon.

    I’m so surprised to see no masks ... not a criticism, just an observation. Here in rural NEW England we hardly ever see maskless faces out in public anymore, ever since March 2020. Thanks for the beautiful journey. Loved Hebden Bridge when I got to visit there ages ago. Hope to visit again an by narrow boat if possible!Happiest of New Year wishes to you!

    • @MinimalList

      The rule here is masks whenever indoors or otherwise having to come close to people. Unfortunately not everyone follows the latter part. M

    My husband used to walk around in shorts in the winter and you knew it was cold when he stepped into a pair of pants. Now that he is no longer up and around, he needs long sleeves and he still gets cold. Getting old is wasted on the elderly. That should be put on the youth of the world and they could just plow right through it. But, nobody asked me. Do you remember when More and Mindy had a baby who turned out to be Jonathan Winters? He was born an older gentleman and got younger as time progressed. Uh oh! Took a sharp right off topic and starting to ramble. Sorry sorry! Great video!

    Happy New Year to you both and George. Thanks for focusing on Timaru Aotearoa :) and that boat Sophie looked quite tidy. Loved the music it added to the area and cruise. Hope you are coping in the cold and lockdown and we can only hope that things may improve in 2021 but not sure. Thanks for sharing some good days and we can appreciate being able to move freely. Even though NZ is not in lockdown internally now I know lots of people are struggling with the inability to cross our border to even get to Oz but we do appreciate that we could have Christmas with friends and family here but know that this could change at any moment. Looking forward to more moments in your 2020 year xxx

    Back in the Manchester of the 70s the more "free thinking" elements aspired to move out to Hebden Bridge and Todmorden, with its wonderful 3 storey back 1 storey front terraced houses and laid back vibe.... so I can imagine (as I haven't been there for over 25 years) that it must now be full of tie dye wearing OAPs and 'exotic aroma' cafes... or has it been Milleniumised?

    • @MinimalList
      @MinimalList  3 года назад

      Hebden Bridge certainly had some nice, laid back shopping... but I’d hesitate to say I saw a single tie dyed shirt in the whole place. M

    Very lovely pictures thank you. Emphasise the first syllable swallow the next two for the West Riding pronunciation of Todmorden as in "Tod mer dn".

    Sowerby Bridge gets close to "Sorby".

    Some very nice filming again, helped a lot by some beautiful canalscapes between Todmorden and Hebden Bridge. I also enjoyed the trip up to the monument. The thought occurs that when things return to normal, it would be very nice to take a walking trip along canal towpaths in this area. Wishing you all the best for the New Year!

      Hi
      This whole area is stunning i have walked the whole area including upto Stoodley Pike. I would say give yourself an overnight stay if you want to do the best part from Todd to Sowerby Bridge this will let you see Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd Luddenden foot and down into Sowerby Bridge. I promise you won't regret it the scenery is stunning. When you get to Mytholmroyd please take a look at the new river defences ( the walls and bridges) i worked on it this year it cost £23m completed this year after 4 years of work but check out Mytholmroyd floods youtube Feb 2020 you will see its money well spent after what they had to go through. With houses and businesses being flooded.

    A lovely video as I used to live on a narrowboat and made the same journey many times.
    In Hebden bridge , you moored in exactly the same place that I overwintered when the locks closed and you also sailed past the sewage works outside Hebden bridge that was my alternate mooring. Everyone else avoided mooring next to the sewage works , but it did not smell and was peaceful and quiet !

      My experience of living on a boat through winter in Hebden bridge was both weird and wonderful as the tourists disappeared and the locals started to party.

      Winter in Hebden Bridge does sound nice. We honestly found the town lovey but far too full of tourists for it to feel comfortable in the middle of a pandemic.

    Your historical episodes are you both at your best (in my opinion). They probably require more work and planning, but maybe they're more fun for you too... Anyway, excellent!

    • @MinimalList

      Yes, lots more work but also more interesting. I just don't always have the capacity to do the research. Especially as I currently have 30 odd vlogs waiting to be edited. Should keep me busy for a while. Thanks for watching and for the kind words.

    Wow! One of our 'crew' joined Rocko and I on our afternoon walk today and we were, inevitably, talking about the chances of being able to have a canal cruise at some time during 2021. We are very doubtful about Easter (which is booked) and almost as doubtful about the possibility of doing our Scout Summer camp (in three narrowboats on the GU) that was cancelled this August. So I raised the idea of doing two weeks towards the end of next August and crashing the South Pennine Ring, purely on what I've seen on your vlog. It is stunning.
    Part of the problem is not being able to plan anything. I suppose the answer is to plan anyway and have 'options'. I've just checked 'Shire Cruisers' website - as seen on your vlog! - and they offer a wide variety of options to be able to get one or more of the 'rings' done in the time. It wasn't until I looked at their route map, that I realised the difference between the North and South Pennine rings and I've watched you effectively do both! How are you going to follow the Rochdale?
    Thank you for a belting vlog this year and wish all three of you a Happy, Peaceful and Healthy New Year.

    • @MinimalList
      @MinimalList  3 года назад

      Either ring is worth it, so plan for both and do whichever works out! Afraid you’ll have to keep watching to see what we do next! Thanks for watching, and Happy New Year! M&J&G

    It appears to me that Stoodley Pike Monument must be built of that most Yorkshire of stones, millstone grit (yes, Yorkshire has limestone too, but it's the millstone grit which is surely what represents the county most accurately).

    • @MinimalList
      @MinimalList  3 года назад

      @@danensis It's an evocative name, at least to me. It also reminds me of the Yorkshire Three Peaks walk, where the three tops; Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent are all topped with the stuff. Not to mention the rain and bogs as well.

    So whats the plans for next year are there any canals or waterways left for you guys to do, has anybody got as many silver propellers as you?

    • @MinimalList
      @MinimalList  3 года назад +1

      As far as we know we’re still the leaders in the Silver Propeller count. As for plans, well we still need to get across the Wash and over towards Cambridgeshire and the rivers Nene and Great Ouse... that was originally planned for late 2020, now we’re going to cross the Wash in May, but Covid has pretty much made it so we’re just making it up by ear for the foreseeable future! • @MinimalList
      @MinimalList  3 года назад

      Hmm... overall, I’d say the sheep are more numerous simply by dint of their prodigious reproduction tactics, but there seem to be more cattle farms and acreage set aside for cattle grazing. But it’s an extremely rough back of the hand estimate at best! M
