Almost no one lived in these areas with permafrost 100 years ago except for very few nomads. However, they only lived there temporarily as nomads. They were only settled there when the Soviets started mining the mineral resources, oil and gas there. Before that, there were actually only penal labor camps there with prisoners who had to mine gold, silver and other ores for the Czar until their death. Later then for Stalin in his Gulags.

The harshest places to live often create the kindest, most generous people. I’m from Newfoundland, Canada. One of the harshest places to live in North America. We have storms that stop whole regions in its tracks. Winter is severe. But we are all family and it is for that reason we have survived over hundreds of years on our small island. It is ingrained in everyone from Newfoundland that you must share for everyone to be successful and be happy. There’s no such thing as forgetting your extended family or neighbours. Someday, you may need help so you do onto others as you would have done to you. We also have a long history of caring for our parents in our homes and nursing homes are a relatively recent phenomenon, and mostly because the adult children leave the island for work opportunities and that means fewer sons and daughters available to care for their parents. I see a lot of overlap between Yakutia and my home. Pulling together is a way of life and even though things change and goods and food are more readily available, sharing is part of our DNA and hopefully will never go away.

Thank you for showing such a wonderful family life in such a harsh environment. I can't fathom living in such a cold climate with little sunlight as well. So blessed where I am but many do not have such a wonderful family life as these do.

It's so sad that in Europe children have been taught to be rude and aggressive not respecting the school and even their teachers. And this is called "freedom of expression".

In winter, in my city in Pakistan, the most lowest temperature is 4-6 & at that weather we found it challenging to go college on bikes etc. These people living in -60 is unbelievable! Best Wishes to them!

    Privet Kiun,
Thank you for sharing how the people in this part of the world live their daily lives. I am always inspired after viewing your videos, its amazing to see how people live their normal lives in extreme weather. I must say, I have changed my views towards unfavourable weather, using your saying 'there is no such thing as bad weather, just weather and your attitude towards it'.
I also do hope that your online store selling traditional Yakutia jewellery will have more stock in? I absolutely love the earrings. 😊
Please keep this channel flowing with new videos, I really do enjoy them.
    Love from Australia. 🇦🇺
