Fantastic build Tom, I greatly enjoy watching your creativity come to life and I think I need to try this now! Keep up the awesome work mate 👍 Love this idea!
I need this! Thanks for making the video and doing all the figuring out. Really helpful! I am walking to my table saw right now to look how your work will translate.
Enjoyed your project and it's apparent success. Could you please share the link for the aluminum fence you ultimately chose to upgrade? Thanks again for sharing!
Thank you very much. The black version is sold out i just saw but here is the silver one amzn.to/49FTffg hope that helps :) thanks again for taking the time watching the video :)
I'm planning on building one myself, but I'd attach the blocks to the table, and let the sliding part run on the blocks... this way i would probably need a smaller rail and have as much moviment as possible as well.. but anyway great project!
That is an interesting approach and could be very helpful for the sliding part. Really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. 💪🏽 let me know how you go with it really interested
As a seasoned woodworker with over40 years experience I say Well Done! Sound engineering practices at work too. ( I can say that as a degrees ME!). Just a question if you have the time to answer: isn’t there even a tiny bit of play at the far end of the fence by the blade? Cheers!
@@robertj1701 first of all thank you. As a beginner/intermediate woodworker only doing this for a bit over 2 years I really appreciate the feedback from seasoned woodworkers like yourself. To your question. You are bang on. Not with sheet goods or pine. But I just cut a 5cm 2in thick Blackwood board and i noticed a tiny little movement. But when I put the pressure on the fence more evenly it worked really well again. On problem I think are my aluminium wings on my table saw they are not that ridged and also the 12mm ply I think has to be upped. I am thinking of doing an update video an a lot of shop projects I did and how i improved them. Thanks again. Always open for feedback too if you have time to give it 😊
The video title seems to conflict with the topic. At this point I think RUclipsrs might be better off titling every sled video with, "No actually, mine's better."
@@thenexthobby not sure what you mean. I am building a sliding crosscut table. Basically trying to turn my saw into a panel saw. It’s way better than a cross cut sled. At least for me. I still need to improve on it. Eg the fence will be at the back like a panel saw.

Recently I built a similar sled on a single rail for my router table and it works very well too. Well done. From the UK.

I was gonna make a video on this topic but no need now… you nailed it. Good stuff my man!

I like making sop helpers as much as regular woodworking projects. Looks like I may try my hand at this. Thanks.

Awesome work! Love the idea... Don't know if I have the room for it in my shop. But I might just need to make it fit.
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it! It doesn’t take up a tone of space 😊
Can you link your sources for the aluminium fences in the description? Job well done!

I don't get why people use table saws without the crown guard. Are 30,000 accidents and 6,000 amputations a year too few for them?
@@Tensquaremetreworkshop with the fence pushing through that would be hard to use. But I am working on an upgrade that will exactly fix this issue.
