Getting comfortable with discomfort in chosen, intentional ways and noticing our reactions, in order to reclaim our sense of safety and control over our own sensations and actions, I love this. So much more empowering than the pervasive victimhood / protection-obsessed perspectives out there

You can also do Vagal Toning by closing your ears with your fingers, taking a deep breath, and humming until you run out of breath. Repeat and raise and lower the octave of humming. Repeat for 2-5 minutes. Your ears might ring for a bit but it will lift your energy. Thanks for the video!

This is awesome especially Awe part. It is like activating what is called "the small self" where we feel that there is something bigger than us, we in turn feel grateful for our beings and the being of anything around us.

I found this not only helpful but very interesting. I am working on childhood trauma, but have not got into the vagal tones yet or vagus nerve. I am constantly tense in my neck and shoulders even when I do my meditation and breathing to go to sleep I keep checking to focus on relaxing my face and neck and shoulders. I constantly go back literally seconds later and I am tense again. It comes as often as my thoughts that I try to calm. This was very informative and I have something else to help me understand how bad I’ve been to my body for all these years. Thank you so much for your knowledge and sharing.❤

Hey Nicole i never had the language until i connected with you and didn’t know about the Vagus nerve, all i knew is what has felt intuitively right and good for my body to heal. When i first saw you do a cold plunge i couldn’t help smiling, because you have been doing something every Finn has known for ages to have many health benefits. Back in the 1950’s people went winter swimming in frozen lakes, however winter swimming became more common as hobby and sport in the 1980’s( there is even a winter swimming association existing). The winter time is long in Finland and temperatures drop below zero with snowfall so naturally i get the cold exposure going on walk outdoors or taking a cold shower( i can’t do the cold plunging because of my body’s extreme reaction to temperature changes caused by Raynaud’s). As for slowing down my heart rate i learned to do it intuitively long time ago being so attuned to my body is an advantage. So much comes from an inner knowing for me so if and when people ask how do i know how to do x?There won’t be any direct answers, i know this something Jenna understands very well because she is very much like me. Out of the context i use my breath also for healing pain, that is stuck blocked up energy in my body.
As always i love your videos❤

Thanks! This was so helpful. I had not heard about the connection between awe and vagal tone but it makes So Much Sense to me. I am in the process of getting out of 19 years of severe narcissistic trauma from my marriage. I was struggling so hard to survive that my sense of awe and also humor was pretty much dead. Now I better understand why that is. I am going to make a point of working more on improving my vagal tone with these practices.

I am not able to agree on the cold exposure. I am not sure if its just for me or other vata constitution beings have this same problem.
When cold for too long, (like being outside for grocery shoppings) my whole body stops working. Muscles, digestive system, and even sometimes my brains. My brain is not able to think clear when cold. Only survival mode to get the hell out!!
During fall, winter and early spring season in europe, i do struggle on a daily base to keep my intestines working. And i need to do daily adjustments to keep everything up and running. And even decide to not go outside at all, for days.
Usually cold is equally to pain. For a few months in a row.
I did try cold exposure, during summer taking a colder shower afterwards, or cold water over my legs after hiking. But my body cramps immediately in this high stress respons.
I am not sure if that is the respons that is really going to help and heel the body, for me it feels more like an extra attact that i need extra time for to recover.

Cold exposure doesn't work for every single person. In fact during cold exposure our muscles contract and tense. Sauna probably will be much better for you, have you tried?

@@EffectivePickyEatersSolutions Too high of humidity will make me faint, but i used to use the infra red cabin at the swimming pool. Because of that experience i bought myself an infra red light last year. Thats how i figured out cold is not for every body beneficial. Sometimes when i am in front of that light my gut spontaneously starts to work again. The same goos for the sitting bath i bought last year as well. Which was actually meant for icebaths... But i use it only with warm water en epsom salts. I do feel it makes quite the differences on my whole body and mental state. I wish i knew these things sooner so i could take better care of myself earlier on. Thanks for the reply 🙏🏼
