The first gig was with a different bassist, and they had a dancer on stage called James Maker for that and the next one. So this is really the true debut of the Smiths as we know them!

      Great spot! Thank you!
It’s hard to know why they stopped doing that together when it sounded so good? Well,I wonder If it was because Johnny simply had enough on his plate with that truly amazing live guitar performance then - fair enough 😊 it looked pretty effortless for him here though.

Tried getting the lyrics of this Wonderful Women. It's a completely different song.
Oh, the nights are too long
    When I pressured along
I tried, but I will never understand
What do you see in her?
What do you see in her?
    Oh, da da da da
    Oh, da da da da
See the life that I grieve
As you will hand in hand
and I try, and I try, and I try
    But I will never understand
Oh, what do you see her?
I ask myself, what do you see in her?
    Oh, da da da da
    Oh, da da da da
    But, she will plague you
    and I will be glad?
    Yes, she will plague you
    and I will be glad?
    Oh, da da da da
    Oh, da da da da
    Oh, da da da da
    Oh, da da da da

Just 18 months from this, their first gig with their definitive line-up, to the “William…” single in Aug 1884, which also contained “How Soon is Now” and “Please Please Please…”.
The only other major group that advanced so quickly was perhaps Led Zeppelin, but 2 of them had been session musicians for five years.

    • @brimans3092
      @brimans3092 Год назад +2

Joe Moss was trustworthy, it was Morrisseys insecurity/paranoia by not allowing power shift away from him but this is a trade off with true genius and like Sex Pistols short lifespan of creativity it's better to have 5 years of greatness than 40 of diminishing returns.. Blur is exception to rule and maybe because I assume each member is fairly paid.. Lesson to learn for up and coming legends.. If you have a great band don't shit on your rhythm section because they are your foundation even if they don't write words or melody...
