- in this video, I went through my A-level graphic design sketchbooks! I finished my A-levels in 2017, so these are kinda old. there's a lot I'd change about them now, which is great because it's nice to know that my personal style has developed a lot over the past three years!

i’m in yr 11, planning on doing graphic design a level next year 😊 just watching to see what kind of work is A* worthy (new subscriber!!)
aww thank you for the sub🤭
@@MaishaMunim yww 😌
@@natu_illustrates I remember seeing you in the comments of another A Level Graphics video by Art with Em and you were saying that you were in year 10 and struggling to write so much in your sketchbook😅. If you dont mind me asking how did ur GCSE graphics go?
your work is amazing ! I was just wondering, are all 3 sketchbooks submitted to the examiner and contribute towards your grade ?
thank you so much! all 3 sketchbooks did contribute to my grade, but whether they're shown to the examiner depends on whose work the board invigilators randomly pick to see so that they can make sure teachers marked fairly :)
Maisha Munim ohh ok thanks :) - basically I am currently in a battle with my college to get onto the graphics a level course after realising how important a design a level was for architecture at university , but it being so late , it’s been a lot of trouble aha.
the good old days x
When we were still able to have fun 😭
i love your sketchbook! what other a levels did you take? x
Thank you so much! I took history and English lit :) x
@@MaishaMunim pls can u drop some tips for a level history
MY FAVE FAVE FAVE VEEDEEEOOOOO
I LUB YOU
do u need to have studied graphic design in high school or hav knowledge of how to use softwares etc to do this course in a level? or do they teach u the basics?
From what I know they teach u the basics in the a level u just need to have done a design based gcse (like art, product design, photography, graphics, textiles)
Wow, I have to put things together, too, no ability to visualise in my mind
Beautiful sketchbook G 👌
Thank you!!
your work is cool do you have any tips for what to write on artist research page? and do you think its better to do work on computer or in book with different media
I'd say in your artist research pages, talk about the mediums the artist uses, how this impacts the work they create, a bit about their background and what you personally like about their work! And I think a mix of digital and mixed media in your sketchbook is perfect :)
@@MaishaMunim thanks
I am doing graphic design but i do not want to put human features or animals in my sketchbook do you think my grades will be affected?
OMGGGGGG, you’re the first Muslim ik that has aphantasia as well. I only found out a couple months ago😭😭😭
Would you recommend graphic a level for someone who's good with a computer but not good at drawing
absolutely, you don't have to be good at drawing to be good at graphic design! there's sooo many styles and directions you can go in!
I’m am competent with 3D design software, is that allowed to be used for graphic design?
yes! it's definitely something you can utilise!
I will be taking Bio, Chem, math and Graphics this coming September and I’m scared that I’ll be spending more time on graphics then I won’t be able to focus on the rest ? Would you say that a lot of time is spent on the assignments compared to other subjects ?
i do it and yes theres alot of time you need to put in to do well.
what software did u use to create your final rihanna piece? :)
I used Adobe Illustrator!!
Can you go into graphic design by doing graphic design as an a level subject, and by not doing art as a subject, or do you need to do art as well?
I didn't study art at A-level and neither did a lot of my classmates, so you defo don't need to! I did study it at GCSE but it wasn't necessary at all :)
Hey I am planning on switching from as to graphic communication. What do you think about it?
Do you think it is a good idea to take media and Graphic design ?
What type of notebook is this?
Did you have any experience of graphic design prior to starting year 12
yep, I studied it at GCSE :) a lot of people in my class didn't study it before year 12, though!
is there a lot of work to do at home?
I'd defo say you have to spend a lot of time doing work in your own time! If you put aside just an hour a day, you'll be fine :) I used to spend a lot of my free periods doing graphics work because I had easy access to printers and focusing on my other two subjects at home!
It’s not a bad portfolio. After all it’s an student portfolio .
what exam board were u on?
I was on AQA!
im just gonna accept my C and move on :_ )
