They are but the novelty of it is what makes it interesting. I played goal for years, still do a bit of pick up now and then. But I was in two fights over the years, one in Minor hockey when I was 12 with the opposing goalie and another one in beer league play when I was in my 30s with a forward from their team. It's tough fighting with all that equipment and you get tired really quick. It's all you can do not to trip yourself with your pads when you are grappling with someone. The second one was actually pretty serious. The idiot ran my crease when there was already some bad blood between our teams because he injured one of our guys earlier in the season with a cheap shot and refused to man up for it. So when he ran my crease and bowled me over I lost my shit and attacked him. A line brawl broke out and a bunch of us were suspended. It was ugly. Ah, the good old days.
