My Italian grandfather worked on the Manhattan project, told the government how much it would cost the country to build the atomic bomb. My father was a Senior aeronautical engineer and designed the cockpit and fuselage of every jet built from about 1954-1974. My mother was a stay at home mom and cared for us 3 kids and had a hot meal on the table when my dad came home at 4 pm sharp.
What an awesome interview. Richard had me in tears! I'm a baby Boomer too and love my country and find out hard to watch the young fritter it away without appreciating what a wonderful thing we have.
Richard Dreyfuss has long been one of my favorite actors. The past few years, most of the actors I admired have fallen in my eyes due to the views they express -- some so much so that I can't even watch them anymore. Mr. Dreyfuss is one I can still admire.
Fully agree. It's a shame too. I love DeNiro's acting, but I refuse to watch any of his movies any more. Especially if I have to rent it, and I know he's getting a royalty cut.
Well Dreyfus is one of the Actors that drove me from watching Movies circa 2003. I was in tears watching this and knowing that at 48 years old I am thankful for the grandmother that taught me the respect I have today. Simply amazing podcast definitely one of the best I have ever listened too. Thank you Glenn for this gift
Must say that his character in "Nuts" with Streisand was excellent and depicted the real problem with other people knowing the solution to our problems!
This indeed was truly special. Almost 45 here and I feel sorry for everyone who did not grow up with the Greatest Generation like we did. Both of my grandfathers served in WWII and some Pearl Harbor survivors were my friends. I can never forget the stories I heard over the years. Whenever I listened to someone from that generation speak it never ceased to amaze me how grounded they all seemed in comparison to everyone else. Kids today are missing out on cultural gold.
My sixth grade teacher, Mr. Kellogg took a whole week to teach the Declaration of Indepenence. We had to learn the whole thing except for the charges against King George. We each had to stand and recite it in front of the class to get a passing grade. By the end of that week I really got it. I realized I am free, unalienable rights...it was simply thrilling! I have been a patriot since that day.
@@paulaeppley3569 Yes indeed, Mr. Kellogg was such a great guy in so many ways. He encouraged my artwork when he caught me drawing while he was talking. He knew I was listening while I drew, he was cool with it, I grew up to be a professional artist. I was a special effects artist in Hollywood for almost 20 years, I did concept drawings, storyboards, and sculpture in 'makeup special effects'. I worked with Stan Winston, Rob Bottin, Walt Disney, Universal and others...
I started reciting the Preamble to the Constitution one day and my husband actually asked, "What's that?" I'm a little older than he is but until that moment I hadn't realized how much public education had changed in the years between our ages.

It's an interesting take. If you have are not teaching ideals of freedom, duty, and individualism. Then you are producing generations of nihilistic and cynical people. I can only guess that this type of person would be so much easier manipulate and accept restraints physically and psychologically.
The problem is that the current generation of teachers never learned Civics, just like they never learned proper English grammar, mathematical calculations without the use of a calculator, etc.
It’s so refreshing to see someone from Hollywood who still believes in the founding principles of this country. Unfortunately, there are not many of them left.
@@catherineportland503 He's going at it completely from one viewpoint, the Jewish Viewpoint! 5,000 years. He's still a leftist Socialist with pink highlights.
Except that his conclusion invalidated his entire interview. For all his acting dedication and brilliance, all of his devotion to reading and studying history, he still failed in his final analysis. It’s just sad. It underscores the problems we face, dramatically.
I graduated high school in 2000, and I learned civics all through school. I grew up in Oklahoma surrounded by adults that loved America and wouldn't stand by silently if someone disrespected our country or the flag. I didn't realize how blessed I was. I thought everyone else was learning the same things.
where we live in America matters as does our family. I often wonder if most of this was only in the large cities for the most part until the last 20 years ....but now it almost doesn't matter because it has creeped into everything.
I graduated in 97 from a rural Indiana high school, and it was the same for me. I didn’t realize people weren’t being taught civics either. It has grieved me as an adult to see people not understand what we are trying to do here.
My oldest son graduated in 2000, also. Even while young, he noted a big difference between himself and his younger brothers. The most dramatic differences were in the youngest, 8 yrs younger. He saw it before I could.
@@stillwatersfarm8499 Sorry, but it has been very obvious to me for far too long. The insane rhetoric, un-American disrespect, burning our cities, think tanks deceptively spending money in furthering the appearance of culture clash, no civil, traditional opinions allowed in the media for at least 10 to 15 years. I might not be that amazingly perceptive; I just was watching everything closely with concern.
@@alwilson3204 I noticed those changes too, but I didn’t realize that lack of civics education was part if the “why”. I attributed it more to breakdown of the family, over scheduled lives, drifting away from religion, radicalism in the media, etc. I didn’t realize they just weren’t flat out teaching kids in school what America is supposed to be.
After a career ending accident and multiple surgeries, I went back to college so I could at least have the possibility of working again within the limits of my disability. It had been 30 years since I was in college, and I was shocked at what I observed. The young students never answered questions voluntarily and their level of knowledge was lacking to say the least. This generation of college students is not going to be prepared for the social interaction society requires. I became friends with many of my professors and one of them told me that in his business law class the students couldn't even name the three separate branches of the American government. How can you make it through junior high and high school without this basic information on our form of government?
Many teachers do little to teach these essential principles and love of our nation. My daughter’s history teacher merely had the students read the chapter, complete a worksheet and take a test. No discussion, no interaction, no context, nothing. What a travesty.
I too went back to college after years in my career. It was amazing how little the younger "students" knew about simple confidence enough to have a discussion in my classes. Mine was a 2 yr program and I had very little classes with students outside my program which was older male doninated, and I'm thankful for that. The younger ones needed to be told every single step and couldn't initiate their own thoughts.
This country doesn’t care about them making it through anything. The elitists and their kids are more educated and groomed to rule over these non educated people. Having a non educated population makes it very easy to rule over them. I believe that’s the goal.
Thank you Glenn for having Richard on your show. It was wonderful. I have loved Richard for his acting but more for his love of our country and the work he is doing to bring civics back to our schools.
It’s heartbreaking how so many younger generations disrespect the flag. They have no idea what the flag truly means. I came from Korea and I know from first hand how horrible and communistic it was in Korea. Being an American Citizen means so much to me that I will protect my children’s freedom and constitutional rights because I never want them to have to experience what I did 🙏
I wish there were more like you who understood what this country means to so many. I for one am glad you are here helping to lend your voice for freedom. I pray together we can make the important changes that need to be made. Blessings 🌷
You mean like the desecration of the flag? Like the thin blue line flag? Or the various trump flag desecrations? All these fainting spells and pearl clutchings from the faux conservatives are hilariously absurd. And I think you know that already...
I also grew up in a communist country, former Yugoslavia,it was more socialist country than communist. Free school, health care, but we were not allowed to speak negative about the communist party. As a teenager I went to west Europe, spend beautiful time there and in the 2000 I have noticed changes,I recognized some sense of communism and slowly it becomes even wors than where I grew up. You are not allowed to speak your mind, the truth is only their truth, protestors being beaten. I am return home years ago, my country now is more free than western countries.
This interview put a lump in my throat. It warms my heart to see two tender men talk about loving their country. It breaks my heart how so many either never had that love or their love has grown cold. Our country is in big trouble! 😞
The problem with others is that instilling prude in there self, a sense of self worth, work hard get paid ethic...keeps our country on top. It's a slippery slope, considering the baby boomers are retiring upto the time my generation begins. I fear generations behind me don't have the mindset to protect what they have been given, when it's all free. They're stoned, mentally warped to reality ..perfect for the elites
@@jjgeoffphhcinkkllee Watch the video on the national anthem and why Francis Scott Keys wrote it. I think you’ll understand people’s passion for it better, if you do. Our ancestors had it much worse. And they built a constitution and bill of rights, to ensure it never went back to that time when we fought a a tyrannical monarchy, and then our own government, because our rights were being trampled upon, or we didn’t have them yet. They died so that we could oppose our own government, and not be persecuted for speaking out. “The great thing about the American Christian, is he would rather die on his feet, than live on his knees.” Many died to hold up a flag being bombarded with every British cannon in the fleet, just to not surrender, because they had demanded we lower it to acknowledge that we surrendered to British rule. When the admiralty asked Francis Scott Keys, why the fort hadn’t lowered the flag, when they’d been told the bombing would stop, the moment they did so? Scott told him this quote from George Washington. He’d gone to the ship to negotiate the release of prisoners from the war of 1812, but those prisoners only cared if the flag was still standing. They prayed all through the night that the flag was still there, and not for their own release. This is why it’s so important to those that recall what was done to keep that flag standing. The bombs kept hitting it over and over, men picked it back up and stood holding it until they died, and the next man stood in his fellow Americans place. When Scott Keys went to the fort to see how it was still standing in the morning, after an entire night of taking direct hit after direct hit, he found a pile of men that had sacrificed their lives to hold it up. He wrote the Star Spangled Banner after witnessing this incredible act of bravery and self-sacrifice. “And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night, that our flag was still there. Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave? O’er the land of the free. And the home of the brave.” Not honoring their incredible feat, is both wrong and ignorant of what they did. It’s so important to remember that those before us had it much worse, and still had the courage to fight for what’s right and ensure freedoms for their future descendants. Their love for the country they fought for, and created, inspired generations to feel that same love and pride for it as well. To not worry about your country’s origins and what it was built to represent and stand for, is to not honor those that died to give you the freedom to disrespect and minimize their hecatomb that made it possible. I get what you’re saying, but I think that many people focus on their discontent with how things are, instead of being grateful for the freedoms that allow them to express their issues. Many countries do not allow this. I have great pride in our forefathers and these freedoms. It’s also good to stop thinking of our own problems and see that, as a whole, we have wondrous freedoms that need to be protected and fought for. That’s why many of us find the love of country so important.
@@sharonsimmons6427 Dude, America has been a decrepit, nonfunctioning, foreign-owned, totalitarian dump for over two decades now, and was trending that way for well over a century, in fact probably since the immediate aftermath of the civil war. We get to do what the unholy union of international business, military, and bureaucratic state LETS us do until it messes with THEM in any way. Lay low and live anonymously til ya die. That's all the future holds for Americans. I'm fine with it at this point, but the pretending that we live in the Schoolhouse Rock America is BEYOND idiotic for people to do by this point
@@sharonsimmons6427 Also, the old prayer stuff is pretty hilarious. White people obsessed with Hebrew sky lord myth. Anyway, when America DID have it good it was because people did great things for causes like freedom (some famous names in history books, but much more importantly, the ordinary people we will never read about. Washington would have been irrelevant without masses of American citizens living and thinking generally like him). America was arguably great in part BECAUSE of the religious delusions of many that kept them in line, sure. Doesn't change the fact that the supernatural is BS and always was. But make no mistake, in reality, the ACTION of humans made great things happens. Gods do not exist and did nothing, never did. If we can't do great things without believing in nonsense still, then tough, I guess.
Richard is a real American. A actor that is not 1000% fake. This is incredible. Glenn. God Bless you. This is what people need to watch and pay attention to.
The Bane King~It IS nice to see an actor, who isn't all woke and so full of themselves, isn't it? Every now and again, I'll come across a celebrity interview and find myself pleasantly surprised and impressed by their knowledge of some things and their interesting, character-building experiences. I'd have to say, though, those times are fewer and farther between, as back in 2015/16, when it was announced that Mr. Trump was running for and then became president, I remember being very shocked and disgusted at how juvenile and openly hostile most celebrities were toward Mr. Trump, or any opposition, anywhere. In the past, I'd never seen or heard even political opponents talk to each other so degradingly. It seemed very unusual and bizarre. I kept thinking, "Wow, what could he (Trump) possibly have done, to be so despised? A person would have to have done something really awful, besides just being themselves, to aquire such contempt and hatred. I kept wondering what it was that I missed, but started to notice that no one ever stated any legit., justifiable reason for their contempt. It just seemed unbelievably "fishy", how there was this collective animosity, just over an opposing candidate, that exploded, and I'd never noticed it before. It was behavior that was very hypocritical and antagonistic. They we're acting like a clique of low life, trailer trash bullies. Just goes to show you can have a lot of money and still have no class. Had it now become a normal thing to bash someone just because we don't like them, and yet believe its ok to act as badly as we want to, with insults and intimidation? Why is that so urgently necessary? After seeing this, It was hard for me to accept that some of the actors I thought would be "good people", turned out to be virtue-signalling, A-holes, who had no problem outwardly trying to insult and slander anyone who didn't share their political point of view. I always knew the presidential debates could get confrontational, but it hadn't even gotten to that point yet, when I saw this alarming conduct. What the heck is wrong with this picture, I thought? To see all of these progressive leftists in such outrage, as if so many previous presidents were doing such a great job running our country? It was behavior so hostile and out of proportion to any real reason to justify it, it pretty much destroyed my ability to even like some of the actors I once enjoyed watching, after seeing and hearing so much of their unbelievable ugliness. It is about as "un-American" as it gets. I thought for sure, these people would eventually get over it, but instead they were relentless and petty, and full of double standards that would blatantly break the law, then make us all see them get away with it; things you or I would definitely be in prison for if we did. And here we are years later, and I'm so disgusted by the damage that has been done to our trust, and the ignorance of these arrogant people who have no right to judge anyone, and have no shame of being puppets for the people running the very kind of government that history proves, does not work. One that lies, cheats and steals, has no honor or justice. Just who would want or promote such a thing? Sorry for the mini rant. I just can't believe the mess our country is in, and how we've all became so devided. Thanks alot celebrities! Hope it was worth losing half of your fan base, belittling and gas lighting people for not submitting to your insanity just to be acceptable to the criminals and fools you defend. For those celebrities who are not part of the woke-joke, I just have that much more respect and appreciation for your actual integrity, that many of these so called celebrities of the craft can only pretend to possess. It's nice to know there is still some talent out there that is worth our interest. I always liked Mr. Dreyfuss. I liked him very much in a movie not often mentioned called "Always". With Holly Hunter and John Goodman. At least now I can still watch it without being disgusted. I really liked and enjoyed the conversation in this video as well! Thanks for sharing it!~

At the 16:45 mark Richard Dryfus claims his great aunt killed the Russian Tzar in 1881, and he's proud about it. Is Richard by chance Jewish? Wasn't the 1905 and the later 1917 Jewish Bolshevik revolutions responsible for the slaughter of over 60 million Russians from the years 1917 to 1957? Why isn't history books talking about this Jewish revolution, about the slaughter of Orthodox Christian Russians, one of the biggest holocausts ever seen on earth being openly talked about?

Mr. Dreyfuss is now a rare ingredient in Hollywood in this day and age. First, he’s a great actor that has that one in a million ability to draw the viewer in and take them on a journey. At the end of the journey you don’t just feel entertained but educated a bit more. The work he’s done in the past decades is still talked about and remembered with nostalgia and fondness. Second, he is obviously a well read and educated man. Education not just by an academic institution but (I humbly believe and feel actually more important) by life experience and his ability to sit back and watch, comprehend, process, and categorize. Of course this’s topped off with his ability to articulate his knowledge into interesting useful information. We need more Men of this caliber. In the slim chance he reads this I say, thank you Mr. Dreyfuss.

It's a shame that this interview was marred at the very end when he expressed his Trump Deranged Syndrome. Even smart people can't seem to separate their personal feelings for Trump from the policies he pursued and was elected to pursue. It's those policies and laws that live on beyond a President, not his personality.
Yes, Brian, it's not Trump's larger-than-life foibles he should be judged on, but how much he loved and worked to improve America - unlike the present "occupant." You'd think Mr. Dreyfuss could recognize that.
Yes I agree, that ruined it for me as well, but there are a few Hollywood elites that dare to voice their opinion on trumps accomplishments. Does he not see what is going on with the criminals running the USA in the present, and the state the USA is in now….very sad😓
Thank you so much for this interview! I knew nothing about Mr. Dreyfuss beliefs or commitments. I am glad there are men like him trying to awaken and educate us because I learned a lot about our history that I had no idea about!
this was one of the deepest conversations I have heard in a long time. Such a deep dive into our history and what is happening now. Thank you both mister Beck and Mister Dreyfuss.
I miss my parents, grandparents, great grandparents and all of the other old timers in my family because they always knew what to do. I learned a lot from them, but it's not the same without them being around. I miss them a lot. Great show Glenn, you and Richard Dreyfuss are both American treasures. Blessings and best wishes to you both. 🙏🇺🇸

Thank you Richard Dreyfus’s! Your character in Mr. Hollands Opus guided me in my career! Remember the boy that just wanted to play in the band? Those are the students I teach and have taught for 23 years. My life is so blessed because of your character showing me the way… Thank you ❤
An actor who's not a soulless prick of a narcissist. Joking but nonetheless..the emotional romantic content in Opus leaves you hoping that couples remember the family unit is a crucial part of a civilization that will live or die based on their making their families a unit of health and wellness. Families used to know each other in a town. Everyone is estranged. But groups of people need to be conscious of activities where bullying becomes a game. I truly feel when people are in a group, there HAS to be that one person who questions actions that tear down the civil rights of another human being. Making that person their scapegoat for their own insecurities.
Thank you for this amazing interview, Glenn, and thanks to you as well, Richard. From one of my favorite actors to one of my newest american culture influencer, you have always amazed me and continue to do so.
Wow! Thanks Glen, that was awesome. Richard Dreyfuss is a great storyteller. I had no idea he was even a Republican. I used to love watching his movies when I was a kid. Glad to see he's not one of "THEM".
Lol! He didn't say that he was a Republican. He said that he is no longer a liberal, but someone in between, with views on both sides of the political spectrum, depending on the issue. But that the knowledge of CIVICS and its practice is more important than one's political persuasion or what political Party one belongs to.
@@davidschalit907 the point is dreyfuss is not a woke fanatic who can’t be reasoned with - you can actually sit down with him and have an intelligent conversation without being slandered and told how intolerant and bigoted your opposing viewpoints are
One of my earliest memories is sitting on Richard Dreyfuss’ lap at a Williamstown Theater Festival house party. Dreyfuss was so funny and tender with me - keeping me amused while simultaneously having conversations with the adults. One of the happiest memories of my childhood. So glad that he is speaking out about this crisis of morality and civility in this country.
Thank you Glenn for giving us this amazing interview. Thank you Richard for sharing your story with us I am a 83 year old constitutional conservative who is always looking for a way to help others understand what we have in our hands. I will share this interview and pray that they will watch it. God bless.
OMG i don't know why i started watching this as i have my 82 yr old mother n law flying in soon and need to finish some cleaning but i'm so glad i did. I just finished watching this and i am in tears. I'm only 54 but i know who Mr. Dreyfuss is but now i know much more, not only about him but about our country. Thanks so much Glenn and for Mr. Dreyfuss for doing this. I hope millions of people pay attention. God bless.
I agree with Mr Dreyfus about kids. They need to be taught truth young and given guidance as they grow and eventually think on their own. I’m not talking about telling them how to think but showing them kindness, generosity and truth, equipping them for adulthood.
By far one of the best interviews I've seen or listened to. The best part was at the end when Glen thanked him for the role he played in "Good-bye Girl" and Mr. Dreyfuss was so moved he started to cry. His explanation for why it affected him so much proved how great of a person he is. It's sad to think the current generations are no where close to producing individuals with the level of intelligence, morality, passion, humility, and respectfulness, as Mr. Dreyfuss.
Goodbye Girl made me fall in love with Richard. I had his photo on my dresser for years. He made me forget my love for Gene Autry. What a movie. What a perfect character in that movie.
Here here! Agreed. I was so in awe of the reactions of each gentleman and the level of emotion and intelligence and patriotism that each exudes. Most fascinating interview I’ve ever witnessed.
What Dreyfus is saying about how civics was removed from the high school curriculum is exactly the point Frank Zappa made when the PMRC was slapping warning labels on CDs and cassette tapes.
That was awesome. Thank you Glenn snd Richard. You both give me hope for the future of this unique country. He hit the problem right in the heart: the disappearance of civics from public education is the root of the problem. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️🙏
At a Christmas parade recently, my child and I were the only people in my view who stood for the American flag at the beginning of the parade. The. Only. Ones. I was surprised and quite frankly, shocked and saddened. Btw, Classical Conversations is a great homeschool program to look into for any parent desiring their young children to get a basic civics education. As these two were talking about the Bill of Rights, the CC Bill of Rights song kept running through my mind. 🥰 Also, the Tuttle Twins books are additional, great resources for young children to learn basic concepts of freedom and the principles of Austrian economics. They even have a "what led up to the founding of our nation" history book out now, too, which is helpful in teaching our young children about who this nation WANTS and aspires to be, as Glenn so aptly put it.
DISRESPECT can be taught by virtue of it not being CONSIDERED, can't it ? Prayer fits in that category now, too, doesn't it? Thank you, thank you. This interview brings such hope and inspiration. With all the characters he portrayed in his life, his most touching performance is being himself ❤
Indeed, I myself fell “in love” with America in fourth grade, when my little parochial school taught us State and Local history. I am in my sixties now, and I thank God I had this education. I still love my country, and pray for her nearly every day. I await the pendulum swing, and hope things change for the better before the end of my lifetime. Thank you for interviewing one of my favorite people.
This was one of the most heartfelt interviews that I have ever seen on your show. Richard Dreyfuss is a giant among men and an anomaly in the cesspool of Hollywood actors. Thank you for such an amazing show!❤️
I have always been fascinated by the uniqueness and extreme talent of Richard Dreyfuss. Thanks for another interesting insight into this impressive man!
So glad we tuned in today, don’t NEED the perfect truck, but if we did be selected, we would pass it on to one of our grandchildren, as well as the gratitude of Abba Blesses His Kids,
I forgot about my "Charm School" days... Thank you Mr. Dreyfus for reminding 'this old bird' that I had Charm School, and I learned proper etiquette when greeting, and interacting with adults. I learned how to set a proper table and eat with manners. How to meet a new person, and show respect to ALL people; including those I disagreed with or even disliked. I also learned civics and civility, and not just at school but also at home. The family dinner table was an educational time for the children , and while telling of our day, our improper use or pronunciation of words were gently corrected "mid sentence". It was also a time to hear about stories of our family history... Some funny, and some serious, but always a life lesson was involved. Maybe this is why each subsequent generation in my lineage remains adhesive, and to this day, the now grand children are respectful and successful. But unfortunately, I fear they have no future! There is no substitute for civics and civility, and parents who understand the serious job of nurturing not just their own children, but the COUNTRY'S too! Is it too late to turn this sinking ship back to shore before it hits bottom? The adults of this world, BUT mostly the able bodied and intelligent MEN have allowed their home, called America, to be invaded, raided, and left in a shambles. It is THEM who should of been keeping tabs on the School Boards, the laws, bills, & regulations of local and state political meetings. They should be holding our Sheriffs & police chiefs accountable, and they should be making a loud presence noticeable by the Federal Government - without having to step foot in the WH - their EYES watching; instilling fear of accountability. It starts in the home - first men should show undying love and EARN RESPECT as MAN of the household. This has it's rewards - the women and children will trust that they have this Nation's Representatives firmly under control. My pipe dream.
I met Richard Dreyfus many years ago and he was such a delight and so uplifting. I've tried to contact him over the years to say "thank you" for that memory so I'll do it here. Best wishes.
thank you richard for verbally representing many Boomers... who share these same thoughts, sentiments & again thank u for ur methodic and detailed interpretation of our generation and past national histories. NM
What an incredible interview with Richard Dreyfuss!!! When we start to rebuild our educational system, Richard Dreyfuss could provide the voice of wisdom and mentoring our country so sorely needs. Thank you.
As a socialist, he doesn't believe God belongs in school. With out morality, there is no law,no law no country. Sorry this wasn't brought up,otherwise it was a brilliant interview.
I feel extremely great full for civics being mandatory to graduate my high school. Had to go to school overseas on one of our military bases. Had no idea how long high schools in the US had removed it. It’s so important to really understand our country and how it’s supposed to work.
Exactly. So, one can disagree all they want, can be all for communism or something, but for Pete's sake, at least know the facts about what we were and are supposed to be and why ! And how within that system, people are most definitely FREE to engage in all sorts of VOLUNTARY giving, sharing, communal living arrangements. Understand basic things like theft and freedom, for Pete's sake ! At least then be a less- ignorant .... person... if you're still all for communism !

Great interview. Thank You Richard and Glenn. I still cry at games during the National Anthem. The naval base here has closed. But when it was here. They did flyover at special school games in our county. Yes county. And All parades on the holidays. My Daughter only asked once, "Why are You crying Dad?" She got it. I wish the rest of her generation did. I fished most of my working life and about 10 years ago, I totally got out. Well sort of. Lol. I lived on my boat for 4 years in Portland harbor. The same time BNAS was about to close. I got home from work one afternoon, sitting below deck. All of a sudden I heard the sound of a jet I've never heard before. I knew exactly what it was immediately. The hair on my neck stood up. I scrambled on deck and a F-22 Raptor flew right over me with a P-51 Mustang on his left wing. .. Only Americans can do that. No other country even comes close to all differences are set aside for the greater good of Humanity. Not a government.
For as many times as Richard broke into tears at compliments thrown his way, what a humble and sincere man. This was a fabulous interview. I have more respect for him now--and I loved him as an actor before--but to know how much he loves America, and from whence he came, and his history, and the fight that he refuses to give up ... Thank you.
Glen Beck, your guest Richard Dreyfuss gave a clear view of what has been left behind for what we have now. So well presented. I'm also thankful that you let your guests talk without constantly interrupting them. Great show, heartfelt comments and a display of broader investigation and views. Bravo!
Glenn, This was an incredibly wonderful & touching interview & conversation with Richard Dreyfuss. Your closing comments to him were heart felt. He is an amazing man & has done a lot in his life. It is wonderful to see others that love our country like we do. I too have profound respect for him, as well as you, Glenn. Keep up the good work!
I feel sorry for him. He feels that there's been no generation since WWII that truly loves their country. His words. His ill-conceived notions are a product of his experience. I grew up a Conservative in Texas in the 80s and 90% of us felt the same emotions that he opines for. He didn't experience that time the same because he was a liberal in California. 2 different experiences, to different beliefs. Finally, ANYONE that can say that Donald Trump represemted the culmination of all that was wrong in America vs HRC-one of the most morally bankrupt people in US history has a lot to learn.
Was looking for this. Initially, I wanted Cruz to win the nomination & I was very cautiously optimistic when Trump got it. But he did so much to strengthen America - despite the politicians (blue AND red) & “news” people - biting his ankles the whole time. He even had a great plan for securing the border and path to citizenship for illegals, but Nancy & Chuck refused to give him the win. Dave Rubin has an interview with Samuel Rodriguez about this. He was/is a man of the people - despite his wealth, LOVES America, and is a fighter. We needed him, warts and all, not all-talk RINOs desperate to be liked by all. One doesn’t have to like him. But if they don’t, and they love America, it’s likely bc they’re uninformed or misinformed. I hope Glenn corrected the record with him a bit afterward… 😊
@Scott Thompson: Agreed. Trump is the best prez in my 70 yrs (I woke up, & left the racist dem party 35 yrs ago); he sees through the swamp, both dems & rinos. If we don't get him back, we're completely screwed.
Orangeman lost me for good going along with con-vid and Operation Warp Speed, everyone knows a drug, any drug, goes from lab to CVS in 10-12 years, yet in addition to the insanity of no real trials, to give big pharma exemptions from all law suits, that's not American. However, I don't expect anyone reading my comment to actually know WHY deep state attached Orangeman immediately, but here's your hint: Obama, and Soros inserted Zelensky into office...Biden was on the serious grift $$$ then, the documents and records at Penn State are the proof, Daria Killiniak, Norm Eisen, Alexandria Chalupa, Marie Yovanovitch, all involved, Shokin had to be removed because he had the goods on both Bidens, the recorded phone call of state dept. swamper proves a coup, totally interfered in Ukraine election having created the climate through an Eisen playbook color revolution. My point to this diatribe, is Dreyfuss was busted on Santa Monica Blvd. with an ounce of blow in his Rolls glove compartment, like Ricky Gervais scolded the Golden Globe audience, "you know nothing about the real world."
In our current “State of affairs “ this interview strikes a chord in me. I have friends that their children teach…middle school geography and social studies. The curriculum is so messed up and convoluted because they aren’t aloud to TEACH HISTORY! I live in Texas and it scares me about our youth
I am 56 years old and I remember even back then how they would never teach the Vietnam War or even Korea… and that was in the 70’s/80’s. This isn’t new. It’s school boards and parents that complain about a spin being put on the history that doesn’t match their spin or books that scare them because they use certain words or tell stories that might offend their delicate sensibilities (To Kill a Mockingbird? Really?)
Brilliant in so many ways. And so many surprising turns. This felt like watching a a two-person play with two very wise gentleman having a chat that just goes deeper and deeper and deeper. Riveting.
I've said many times that my favorite comedy ever was, "My Favorite Year". And Richard's performance in "The Goodbye Girl" is one of THE most authentic performances I've ever witnessed. How about that! LOVED this interview, Glenn. I will watch it again someday, without any doubt. He's so real. I didn't know. I'd been led to believe that he was a bit of an "igno-sapien". Wish it had been at least an hour longer.
@@HerAeolianHarp True. He was not and nobody said he was in it. Both movies were talked about. My Favorite year was mentioned when discussing Peter O'Toole, if memory serves. That should give my comment a different context, I trust.
People talking truth and common sense are getting called far right. Recently Jordan peterson said when life is complicated the tool we have is the truth.🙏🏴🇬🇧🌹
Awesome from the heart interview. America is in need of more Richard Dreyfuss and people who love this country to speak on her behalf. We need to bring love and togetherness back for our beloved country. “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.”
This was amazing to hear Richard Dreyfuss's thoughts and opinions. I want to credit Glenn with being the best interviewer in all of media, allowing the person he is interviewing to answer his questions fully without trying to rush them into the next question. I can't think of a single media personality that treats the person they are interviewing with the respect Glenn shows for his guests, whether he agrees with them on the issues or not.
Thank you so much for your contribution to society with your gift always a class act! When you and Clint Eastwood are gone I don't know if there will ever be anyone to compare!
Glenn I am so grateful that you did this interview. As a die hard Conservative having been converted from a Socialist back in the late 60's, I was always a big fan of whatever Richard Dreyfuss did on the big screen but had problems with his politics. His "outing" was so valuable and increased my respect for him immensely. Thanks again Glenn for digging into the mind of a great American like Richard Dreyfuss.

Richard Dreyfuss has long been one of my favorite actors. The past few years, most of the actors I admired have fallen in my eyes due to the views they express -- some so much so that I can't even watch them anymore. Mr. Dreyfuss is one I can still admire.

This indeed was truly special. Almost 45 here and I feel sorry for everyone who did not grow up with the Greatest Generation like we did. Both of my grandfathers served in WWII and some Pearl Harbor survivors were my friends. I can never forget the stories I heard over the years. Excellent conversation we absolutely NEED US CIVICS back in our schools IMMEDIATELY

Canadian and USA civics classes praise BLM and wokism today. The constitution must be taught again
It's an interesting take. If you have are not teaching ideals of freedom, duty, and individualism. Then you are producing generations of nihilistic and cynical people. I can only guess that this type of person would be so much easier manipulate and accept restraints physically and psychologically.
And prayer, I'm 77, I said the pledge of allegiance and the Our Father prayer every morning in my elementary classes in public school.
But remember, the Left has their own idea of what civics is.

And yet when they walk away with the diploma, they will still believe they're smarter than others from previous generations!
Dumification of a country is what we have
I too went back to college after years in my career.
Being an American Citizen means so much to me that I will protect my children’s freedom and constitutional rights because I never want them to have to experience what I did 🙏
Quite right!
God bless!
Any single individual has much more pressing daily concerns than concerns about abstractions like "countries".
Washington would have been irrelevant without masses of American citizens living and thinking generally like him). America was arguably great in part BECAUSE of the religious delusions of many that kept them in line, sure. Doesn't change the fact that the supernatural is BS and always was.

Dreyfuss.
It's the delight of my day. Wish to get that courage to go back to school and start my life all over! Thank you very much!

It's a shame that this interview was marred at the very end when he expressed his Trump Deranged Syndrome. Even smart people can't seem to separate their personal feelings for Trump from the policies he pursued and was elected to pursue. It's those policies and laws that live on beyond a President, not his personality.
My thoughts exactly! Too bad there are just a few people who agree with us… Greetings from Amsterdam🌷

San Diego Unified K-12,
Thank you Richard Dreyfus’s! Your character in Mr. Hollands Opus guided me in my career! Remember the boy that just wanted to play in the band? Those are the students I teach and have taught for 23 years. My life is so blessed because of your character showing me the way… Thank you ❤
ᴅᴍ ғᴏʀ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ɪɴғᴏʀᴍᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ✍️👆
One of my favorite movies!
@@davidschalit907 My bad. Votes Republican. Lives conservative Republican life. Thinks Democrats are idiots. My bad dude. " LoL"

One of my earliest memories is sitting on Richard Dreyfuss’ lap at a Williamstown Theater Festival house party. Richard has been one of my heroes for a while now. He is a treasure. Thank you for this interview.
Do you recall where in the interview they discuss Goodbye Girl?

What Dreyfus is saying about how civics was removed from the high school curriculum is exactly the point Frank Zappa made when the PMRC was slapping warning labels on CDs and cassette tapes.
That was awesome. Thank you Glenn snd Richard. You both give me hope for the future of this unique country. He hit the problem right in the heart: the disappearance of civics from public education is the root of the problem. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️🙏
The disappearance of God from public education is the root of all problems, then civics based on Judeo-Christian values.
Amen sister
I couldn't agree with you more Pelican!
I pray some/all of the younger generations are listening.
Also, the Tuttle Twins books are additional, great resources for young children to learn basic concepts of freedom and the principles of Austrian economics.

God Bless both of you gentlemen. You are so right ! We also Need to bring back the Bible and the Lord into our Nation or we are Lost !

I still cry at games during the National Anthem. The naval base here has closed. But when it was here. They did flyover at special school games in our county. Yes county. And All parades on the holidays. My Daughter only asked once, "Why are You crying Dad?"
She got it.

It is wonderful to see others that love our country like we do. I too have profound respect for him, as well as you, Glenn. Keep up the good work!
He was in Close Encounters and it was HUGE back then. Legend.
He is just beginning to grow up and he's decades off. Take all his wealth and clout away and let him walk amongst the weary and the youth.
Well noted and said.
*Dreyfuss explaining the plot of James Dean's REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE is brilliant.*
Riveting.
Richard Dreyfuss is my new best friend! It’s amazing that he’s from Hollywood where voices of reason are so rare. Wow!!!

This was amazing to hear Richard Dreyfuss's thoughts and opinions. I want to credit Glenn with being the best interviewer in all of media, allowing the person he is interviewing to answer his questions fully without trying to rush them into the next question. RAY STARK told me at our interview, that he had a friend who might be interested in "producing children's musicals", especially the one about the little 8 year old cellist, who gets up on stage to add some humor to the dry wit of the " Famous First Four" Presidents. I lost the piece of paper he'd written a phone number on, for his friend ' BRUNO" One of the music samples is on UTube, as " Time Goes By." The music doesn't "age", and "Honey" reminds viewers of that in her musical; the people do! However, in your particular "case." it doesn't seem evident. You, nor the concepts YOU elicit won't age eitherIt seems the TERM of "underscore" in regard to your info about Bette Davis, might not actually "state" what was happening to her script?
MY experience has been that the orchestrator often OVER-SCORES and ruins the delicacies of some of the characters' dialogue nuisances ?
WILL TRY AGAIN to find this guy Ray referred to as being BRUNO. Ray also offered me a screen test; I wasn't interested. And he also asked if I wanted to meet with Neal Simon, whose office was right next door at Universal...but I was in a hurry to get to another appointment.
STORY OF MY MUSICAL LIFE....Just wanted to get home a finish another song!!
I SINCERELY hope someone you are in touch with, might read this and help me to find that friend of Ray's, named ' BRUNO."
IS THERE ANYONE HERE who's in touch with Richard, or works with the "Initiative" who has an email for him?LyndaFaye

Your only pushing good folks away with the constant empty preaching. Satan is using your pride to keep others from salvation. Most of you "Christians " are condemned.
Thank you
Amen.
God bless you
Richard Dreyfus is one of my favorite Actors. Loved all His Movies.
