  • After using this helmet for about 2.5 years, I wanted to do a review and then test the helmet against several different threats to see if it still holds up.

Solid video. You're also 100% correct on your opening statement. We're currently using Teijin aramid fibers, which are out of the Netherlands, but we're in the process of finalizing the re-shore of this helmet to our facility in Texas. You see a lot of people mistaking the worst-case scenario impacts as the absolute limit of the helmet, but that's often not the case, because it's very rare for someone to be taking a worst-case scenario hit in a real life situation. The helmets often out-perform those limits in reality where ranges, ammunitions, and the angle of impact can vary.
Worth noting, the left and right sides of any helmet are generally going to where you see the most backface deformation in a helmet, because it's where the material is the thinnest. The limit on that is set by the Army ACH contract standards at 25.4mm, and the deformation itself is actually measured on a clay head form. Only correction we have is that the material itself is incapable of spalling, Aramid fibers are a fabric at the end of the day which is why the material may have felt spongy after you shot it.
Glad the helmet served you well dude, this was a proper send off.

Hey thanks for leaving a comment! I never would have guessed y'all would even see this lol. Yea I realize now I misspoke about the spalling, I think I was referring to the partial pass through around the edge after all the 9mm at the end. Thanks for the all the info and correction!

Love this video. Been trying to find a video with a test like this. I wonder what it would be like if you tried shooting the top of the forehead/top of head. Wonder if itll skip off or just punch straight through. Great test and shows how strong this helmet is! Always wondered if the Ukraine stories were true about taking a beating.

I just got one of these helmets. Seems solid and I got the pads set up in a manner that makes it comfortable. A little wiggle but not too much. Hopefully a little wiggle isn't a problem.
Yeah, mlok rail on the helmet isn't great for attaching ear muff adaptors. It's a total guess if they're locked in place or not. The kit from HHV is only a single mlok screw and I kept having issues with it being locked in place. I ordered a kit from a company called Unity that has a two point attachment kit which I hope secures my Peltors more securely.
For the money, it seems to be a good entry level helmet. At least it's actually ballistic resistant. There are some scams out there from companies proclaiming to sell ballistic helmets but they're nothing but fiberglass bump helmets. If you think you're getting a ballistic helmet for $100, you're not.

Hey great vid but may I ask what arc rails you got specifically for this helmet because I am looking to switch the rails like you did. If you have a link that would be great but if not that is also good. Great vid btw!!

MLOK isn't the same as KeyMod.
I do that exact same mixup all the time. 😅

It would have performed better if you'd left the Bootband on it. Those things are magic I'm told.

This is almost dishonest...no one tesrong helmets tries to shoot "glancing" shots...its to be shot perpendicular to advocate fornpenetrarion NIJ testing

      1. The glancing shots were for rifle calibers. 2. Helmets don’t get NIJ certifications 3. These helmets aren’t meant to take rifle caliber so that would’ve been pointless to do. The point of that test was to see how it would do in the event that the shot was taken at a weird angle
