Refreshing to hear a story where the MIL is actually a genuinely good, decent human being. Normally the MIL is absolute scum of the earth in these stories. Also, as angry as the MIL was..I think it was also how her son responded after the affair was found out. He left his wife who just had a miscarriage thanks to him to be with his mistress. If he had felt some kind of remorse and may an attempt to redeem himself (stood by his wife, went to counseling, etc.) his mother may have at least left something behind for him. She saw him repeat the same mistakes as her father and treated him fairly.

The most pettiest shit I have seen some do is just leaving a cent to each child that never came over and leave everything to someone who took care of them just to show their final disapproval and disappointment. I would've felt bad but MIL was right. That baby has two loving parents. The ex-wife is a single parent with a father who completely abandoned her and only pays child support coz he was forced by law. So no, MIL was smart and did this out of reaction for the horrible actions of her cheater son.

No the cheating caused the miscarriage. He left her after she miscarried as if taking it as some kind of sign but the miscarriage happened because of the stress of him admitting to an affair and the other woman being pregnant with his child. Stress can kill people, and pregnant women are especially prone to stress. XMIL should have gone no contact with her son and "family" for what he did in addition to changing the will. Never be in a room with an ex or an abusive person without mic or camera going. And should have brought out that restraining order anyway, not threatened it. The Mil had to go through living uncared for by her own father after his cheating, and now once again she’s forced to watch it happen, not from her father, but from her own son doing it to _his_ daughter. She cared for Naomi and GiGi because, in them, she saw the same shit her father put her through. And Jack asking MIL to visit him, Daren, and affair partner might as well have been like seeing the other family her father had raised when she was a kid. Both times, involving people who are supposed to care about their children, their S/O and the families they created. Both times, the person leaving and not caring the mess they left behind. I can see the issues people have with how MIL disowned Jack, and how it makes sense that Jack wouldn’t want to be there for his mother while she was still alive because she never wanted to speak to him or Daren again. At the same time, to live through what she had, and to see it happen again to someone she cares about, was fucking heartbreaking, and makes sense her decision to not want to speak to him again. And yea, she changed the will, but she still also left thousands of dollars in an art collection for Jack that they could sell, even after how horrible of a parent he was to his own Naomi. He cheated on his wife, had a kid with the affair partner, and not only left his daughter, but his grieving wife and what was supposed to be his second child. He’s lucky he still got anything.

No the cheating caused the miscarriage. He left her after she miscarried as if taking it as some kind of sign but the miscarriage happened because of the stress of him admitting to an affair and the other woman being pregnant with his child. Stress can kill people, and pregnant women are especially prone to stress.
XMIL should have gone no contact with her son and "family" for what he did in addition to changing the will.
Never be in a room with an ex or an abusive person without mic or camera going. And should have brought out that restraining order anyway, not threatened it.

I can honestly say that it got me so confused thinking they are the same person... Had to go to that video and listen to it again.
The only thing that seemed weird is that oop wasn't already moved in. The logical thing would've been to move into mil's house to take care of her instead of the other way around.
The Mil had to go through living uncared for by her own father after his cheating, and now once again she’s forced to watch it happen, not from her father, but from her own son doing it to _his_ daughter. She cared for Naomi and GiGi because, in them, she saw the same shit her father put her through. And Jack asking MIL to visit him, Daren, and affair partner might as well have been like seeing the other family her father had raised when she was a kid. Both times, involving people who are supposed to care about their children, their S/O and the families they created. Both times, the person leaving and not caring the mess they left behind.
I can see the issues people have with how MIL disowned Jack, and how it makes sense that Jack wouldn’t want to be there for his mother while she was still alive because she never wanted to speak to him or Daren again. At the same time, to live through what she had, and to see it happen again to someone she cares about, was fucking heartbreaking, and makes sense her decision to not want to speak to him again. And yea, she changed the will, but she still also left thousands of dollars in an art collection for Jack that they could sell, even after how horrible of a parent he was to his own Naomi. He cheated on his wife, had a kid with the affair partner, and not only left his daughter, but his grieving wife and what was supposed to be his second child.
He’s lucky he still got anything.
