The pointed end of my soldering iron tips have always got eaten away gradually over time. And now I understand that it is primarily due to the heat and oxidation. Thanks a lot for sharing this information.

I solder everyday and was going through some tips kept thinking why won't this solder stick to the tip just kept beading up and causing troubles I think my biggest problem was not tinning it in between and would leave the iron running while doing stuff thnx great video

hi, please clarify in your video you are showing 500 F and not 500 C since it's not visible on the video. new people might crank their Celsius way up which is not a good idea. 500 F is only 260 C (low temperature)

This video left me with questions. If you are doing metal work soldering, that uses solder with no flux, & has separate acid flux, then how do you go about this? This video spoke of letting the flux from the wire core clean the tip. I trust the expert totally; I just hope for more details, for different types of soldering. I just heard to not put acid flux on the soldering tip? (I esp have in mind lead free solder as well, with high percentage tin... or Weller new solder that has nickel in it? to tin the tip?)
