Short story:
As the king laid dead, the jester walked out to see the invading forces storm the castle. The enemy knights laughed as they took the woman, treasure, and booze and began to celebrate. The vernal grinned as the prizes that their land would love. Soon, he heard something odd… bells? He looked as he readied his axe. “Who’s there?!”
The soldiers look to see this… jester? The court jester? Of all figures not to run…! They started to laugh. “General, it seems that we get a show with our drink!” A soldier laughed.
“My dearest king,” He walked to his dead lord and gave a formal bow as he placed down a right on his lap. “Forgive me for being late.” He turned and wore that smiling mask. “You have rather rowdy guests.”
“Aye, your king said to make ourselves at home. A shame I couldn’t have the queen.” The general chuckled darkly. “I’m in a good mood, harlequin, so you can run if you like and some coin if you like.”
“Dear sirs, if I run, who shall clean up this funny mess left here before I?” As the soldiers glare at him. “I mean, I would call you pigs, but they have better manner~!”
“You wish to die that badly, jester!?” A soldier grabbed up a heavy mace and stomped towards the jester.
“Care to hear a story?” He asked so happily. “Once upon a time, in the land of far away, there lived a boy who was cursed with a wicked power. No one loved the boy who only wanted to make others smile. One day, a kind king came to the boy, and asked why he was alone. He saw the boy cry and told jokes to cheer the child up. The boy laughed and told his own as the king invited him to be a wonderful jester and friend. He gave him a ring as a sign and the curse felt relieved.” The soldier dare not listen as he swung his mask as they saw the hat and smashing sound. “The boy was given a card to help channel his power and to never use it unless it was for a good show or reason.”
“Shut it, freak…!” He looked to see… his mace was grabbed on and crushed in the jester’s hand as smoke filled the room.
“And today… the reason has appeared.” Next tot he jester’s head was the joker card. He started up as room bellowed with odd colored flames as he laughed. “So allow me to put a show for the fallen king~!”

This is so helpful for making a scene in my story filled with a pretty dark scene where the jesters cause a sacrifice for entertainment (And the audience applauses with delight)
..... yeah ill be happily stealing this idea for a Grim Jester encounter i want to make lol

Totally using this for my new DND character. He's a jester/entertainer named Jynx who's been cursed with wild magic (homebrew wizard subclass, not the sorcerer one) who's goal is to have his curse removed which would take an ungodly amount of power.

I plan on making a DND campaign and one of the main enemies of the showtellers circus is the fire jester which is a jester that was locked in a box because of something he did and he uses jester card to spawn more of him

She knew if word EVER got out about her new fond love for the King’s🤴Jester...that he probably kill her new beloved clown...she was thinking all
of this meanwhile watching the top (male)Jester in her Kingdom...dancing as fast as he could around the ball room trying to entertain everyone in the room...mainly for her though the Queen👸...as he’d dance with the rhythm of the music he made sure to NOT look at her directly to much but instead from time to time at the king’s direction so it wouldn’t seem SUS/suspicious whatsoever to the King👑
so tell me did he ever get caught & killed with the Queen imprisoned......or did the Queen👸herself keep this a Secret till the king’s death☠️......&/and did these two live happily ever for the rest of their lives...u/you tell me.
