I love how the fight just starts, they don't waste their time with boring dialogue because they both already know what will happen. The animation is also incredible.

Power up yells? Is this you crapping on Dragonball? I think people start to forget from whence they came and what made them anime fans in the first place. Ranking of Kings is good, really good, you don't really have to talk down other anime to praise it you chipmunk.

@@Foxbopper A mute child is the son of a great king and must overcome his weakness and disabilities in order to be the greatest king ever. It's dope AF and deceptively tragic at times. If you like old school one piece then you'll love this one. It's definitely one of my favorite anime series at the moment.
I love how stuff changes overtime, everyone was rooting for apeas because he was helping boiji, but right now it's the opposite, Loving the twists

I mean at the time he had no idea Mitanjo was pulling strings. So he was 100% about to carry out Bosses will. But Bosses will was also to make Miranjo happy at all costs.
This anime is an absolute gem.
Let’s be real no one expected the animation to turn up as much as did.
my expectations were low going in to ep 1 but at the end i could tell that this anime was going to be something special.

I mean, everyone who knew who's going to be directing this (Yousuke Hatta) and assisting him (Arifumi Imai) was expecting the animation to be really good. Sometimes you just have to look at the staff involved.
@@miloku18 I mean you can also tell how good it's going to be based off of the art style itself. From the trailer alone I thought it looked like a mix between dragon quest and old school one piece (back when the backgrounds used to be water colored). They don't waste their time and effort making some hyper polished and bland looking anime, this actually has style to it.
Wit studio doesn't dissapoint
A well choreographed fight that neatly shows the advantages and disadvantages of swords and spears in about a minute.
Very cool.
I did not expect to like Ranking of Kings as much as I do. Fantastic focus on the actual fight, and it's not one that lasts and ENTIRE episode with commentary. Good change of pace from typical anime fights.

Aw. What a cute artstyle- OH GOD!
This is probably the closest to a real fight that could happen in life. Immediate action, no nonsense, and not even a minute pass before it ends. A stare down was added at the start, but not all that intrusive... Although the length of the spear looks smaller or longer than when it's shown in a different perspective (i.e. while the blade was travelling down the spear).
Also highly doubt you can just cut through the spear just like that, even with a sharp sword.

No music, no move name-shouting, no shaky camera to cut corners on animation, no monologuing. Just energy.
as an illustrator and artist, the foreshortening in this scene is crazy. makes me want to check this anime out. this animation and art style? also the realistic fight sequence is captivating and refreshing. dont get me wrong, prolonged fights where those engaging in the combat get severely injured yet keep on fighting does send the message to never give up… but man. this was a nice watch.
Watch Sword of the Stranger for a similar kind of fight

I like how different the artstyle is compared to the usual
The weight and care given to each move of the fight! The back and forth is so deliberate and precise! It's between two superhumans, but logistically tracks with real martial arts! It's so good!
Despite it looking spectacular, this truly shows how real fight to the death happens between two professionals. It’s short and ends as soon as one of them makes one single mistake
The sad Part about this Anime is that it may not get the Attantion it deserves to get
Love what he did with the spear when the guy was sliding his sword down it
This is about as real as a depiction gets of a fight like this (minus the styled 5 sec of rushing forward while bo-staff guy switched his hands). Sword vs staff, destroys staff. Stabbed in the gut, man bled out, no more fighting.
He had a spear, not a staff.
Character are never what they seem to be in this anime,our views on both of these guys change completely a couple episodes after this scene

This is the first clip I saw of the show and what made me give it a chance. I'm glad I did.
The best part is that the spear is wood not some unbreakable metal disguised as wood

This show doesn't get enough love.
RoK is absolutely the gold standard for writing in anime right now. Less is more when it comes to dialogue and I’m hopeful the success of this show will inspire other studios to try and be more aware of that. There’s so many anime that could be good if they just cut the dialogue in half and let the visuals and characters’ actions speak for themselves.
It's one of the few issues I have with eastern animation. Too much exposition. Even when you can clearly understand what is going on by paying attention, there's gonna be an inner monologue or a dialogue explaining what's happening right after. Many anime shows treat the viewer as if they were a moron who needs to have their hand held at all times. RoK is so refreshing for avoiding that.

No music, no dialogue. Just warriors sizing each other up and proceeding with the fight. Amazing sequence and animation.
Afters todays episode this fight has so much more weight! This guy in the underworld is like a hack when he trains people

I know ive said this before but no matter how many times i see it, for some reason i keep seeing bebins goat tea as just one big tooth now every time i see his face i think “man that is one angry bunny.🐰
That spear was getting longer instead of shorter,
It's almost a cliche, but you know the more evil looking characters is going to be one of the good ones and will help the main character later on
To be fair every single character was evil and against boji in the beginning

I think it's due to the animation and perspective it shows the spear from before making contact to where it makes contact with the blade.

Mob Psycho also had goofy art style and yet its considered as amazing. Ranking of Kings is still ongoing and it's also amazing. It has also great openings and endings. The second opening is one of the best anime opening I've ever seen.

his epithet is the snake lord, so he commends snakes to him. When we got stabbed by Apis, the snakes helped him by getting burried by the ground getting healed.
