    Being Cuban-American and having been to Cuba several times as an adult I understand why they call to confirm an appointment because getting to most places is an effort. Once you’re there you can end up waiting for your friend for a long time. Transportation, especially outside the Capitol, is a nightmare.

      @@Ana-Maria-Sierra we not just need to confirm because of the transport. It also because people here are bad at making planes and sticking to them

    I've lived abroad extensively and i've watched countless priveleged Europeans stop finding third world "aliveness" exciting the minute their first kid goes to school.

      It is also common in many countries, people want the children to have the kind of upbringing they had themselevs (in their own language, envoirement etc).
