Nielsst.claire: It was wonderful seeing and hearing such a great artist again after attending at least 60 of her concerts in NYC, Chicago and elsewhere!
There are not enough flowers to honour this lady. If someone wants to know what perfection in pianoplaying is, just let him watch this remarkable video. Thanks so much for uploading.
@@OE1FEU Never heard of this...where is it available? The Iberia in particular is such an acrobatic work that I would have loved (and been amazed) to see how she does it...to say nothing of the incredible feat of memorization of such a complex score.
Tkhx lisilisin for this wonderful tribute! It shows the enormous repertoire she played during her long career. Her sound, voicing and timing: it is unique! And I do like her Mozart so much!! By the way, on the 23rd May she was remembered on Dutch Radio IV. I heard a Scarlatti Sonata while listenig to the radio in my car.and the reporter mentioned it was AdL. and that it was her birthday and she became famous playing Spanish Pianoworks of many composers, but too that she played all the other composers equally well! As we can hear in this tribute.
Dear pghagen, I don't have anything to do with this wonderful tribute... Someone else is the responsable of the "AdL Chanel" to whom I'm very grateful for everything he publishes!!!
Dear Lisilisin, As I am now listening again to this wonderful tribute about your mother again I just discovered your answer to me. I always thought you was responsible for the AdL channel. I am so sorry that I misunderstood this. I am happy to discover a lot of stories about AdL are now translated into English as my Spanish is bad and my Catalan even worse.😥
I just now noticed what she does at 6:22 and following. She doesn't do a double shake in the right hand, but does the trill with 2 and 3 while playing a repeating note with the thumb. This might seem a trivial observation to very experienced or professional pianists, but it is a delightful revelation for me. I will be able to do that and it will add to my pleasure of the piece.
And I must say: I adore her in alomost every repertoire, except in Mozart, where she just sounds too heavy. When she's an artist in Mozart, someone like Uchida is just a magician...
More likely the heaviness has more to do with the recording than her playing...she was an outstanding Mozart pianist, but she wasn't always served well by the engineers at Decca and RCA.
Priceless!! Alicia de Larrocha has secured her place in the pantheon of history's greatest pianists.
I would have given anything to meet her. What an artist!
Yes! This is how to play the piano. Brava Alicia.

Maravillosa pianista❤
Greatest pianist of all time...not even close.

So effortlessAmazing pianist
Maravilloso!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻♥️
Another like her will never exist. ♥♥♥♥
La adoro profundamente. Enorme artista A. d Larrocha
Thank you for posting these amazing clips! My favorite classical pianist!

Awesome!
Amazing...it really is a missed opportunity that no one ever thought to record her on video playing the complete Goyescas and Iberia.
The complete Iberia has been recorded on video by German broadcast studio SWR in a studio recital with audience.

@@OE1FEU complete? Or just Evocacíon and Triana?
@@henrigaziel2002 She played all 4 volumes. Must have been some time in the later 80s. I used to have it on a VHS tape, but, alas, no longer.
Magnificent! Thanks for this video 👏❤️

Thank you!!!
Great technique... that is it...
A damn sight more than just a great technique is what it is.
You are right!
She has got technique and EVERYTHING else.
Beautiful Beethoven, last movement..ben marcato! [35:42]
:-)
berlinzerberus una genia!
it's not the size of the pianist's hands, it's the size of the pianist in the hands that counts.
Great idea and wonderful footage, but why only fragments of pieces?? Please post complete performances if you have them!

Poco, realmente poco. Está tan claro...
❤️❤️
If I were a professional pianist I would retire from business..
What a silly idea! What a waste of such great material! Why not to publish the whole videos, marvellous as they all are? Whar a greta pitty!
And I must say: I adore her in alomost every repertoire, except in Mozart, where she just sounds too heavy. When she's an artist in Mozart, someone like Uchida is just a magician...
I think she's better than Uchida in the Mozart Fantasia K 475.

This fragmented "mic mac" doesn't do right to one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century. Really a missed opportunity...
