This is definitely one of my favorite K-pop live performance
I wish they would do a tour just like this
This version of Love is Lonely is THE definitive version
I like the sax guy just vibing in the back that’s how I feel when I watch this performance

Honestly seeing NMIXX do a tour like this would be so epic in my opinion lol
I hear you though this version of Love is Lonely really hits different and I'm here for it😌
I think the saxophone playing and other musicians have worked with NMIXX before so they were really just feeling the good vibes hehe

@@izzy_robotix by the way maybe you already know but Nmixx just released a Spanish version of Soñar
Usually groups released Japanese and English versions so it’s nice that they are doing Spanish too

Their concert in Milan (opening act for Stray Kids IIRC) was with a live band playing (though the tracks were not completely rearranged like here).

Just NMixx setting the vocal standard for generations to come with one single performance! Run For Roses is my personnal SOTY, has been since it came out, and I don't think anything can dethrone it.

@@RudeMekanicals I love Run For Roses so much! I feel like it's such a staple song for NMIXX it's definitely currently one of my faves

Same here; RFR is still up there at my SOTY position in spite of a number of damn good other tracks in the last 10 months.
I disagree with them setting a standard for other groups though. The vocal standard should be groups like e.g. aespa that are really really good. But NMIXX is by now so far beyond that line that nobody can or should expect other groups there. NMIXX is one of those once-per-generation outliers, like some centuries or so ago Mamamoo.

The concept is not AFAIK that the space is small. The concept is that the sound is raw as can be. They are using Tiny Desk Korea's shotgun mikes. They have no in-ear monitors. They have no backing track. There is no postprocessing. There is no effects on the mikes. There is no autotune. There are no do-overs. The mini-concert is shot in one take, and posted as much as possible as-is. All other "live" venues have at least some of those things. I heard that if an artist is not able to follow all of Tiny Desk Korea restrictions, their video gets "Special" in the name. NMIXX is the first group that followed all their rules. An audio engineer commented somewhere and said they are crazy to do this, and explained to us laymen why almost no idol group would dare to do something like this (from what I remember, just band being immediately behind singers, playing full force, and singers being without in-ears, is already insane). There might be a couple of other groups that might be capable of it, but not many.
Native Korean 별 "byeol" means "star", but it also has an etymologically unrelated, Chinese-derived meaning of "separate" or "different" (with hanja 別), which then also gets the meaning of "nothing much in particular", and also participates in compounds like 별종 "byeoljong" which means "oddball" or "weirdo". So the chorus of this song, as well as its title, are not really translatable, as they rely on a pun (two different meanings of Korean 별 "byeol"). Basically, as far as I can interpret it, they are seen as oddballs because of their concept, some people might think they are nothing special, and there are weirdos who hate on them, but they'll reclaim that 별 "byeol" and assert they are stars - all suggested just by repetition of that one syllable, and some adlibs to make it make sense. I guess they chose the next words in the chorus as the English title since translating puns is a losing fight.

About NMixx being oddballs, here's my theory. Most groups' social structure is basically that of a sports team. The leader is their equivalent of a captain, and the camaraderie really mirrors that structure. I have found only three exceptions to this. First is (G)I-dle which is structured like a street gang (SoYeon the OG and the other members her lieutenants). And then you have Weeekly and NMIXX who behave like a theatre troupe, or rather theatre kids in high school, where everyone is their own main character

@RudeMekanicals that's such an interesting theory🤔 they really are theater kids though lol i think the "weirdness" factor is a great drawing point for ppl in every day life that feel like an outcast. I often feel NMIXX members are often so different from eachother that it's only obvious they would fit together if that makes sense lol it's like their oddball traits fit and match eachother somehow. I'm only familiar with (G)I-dle and I can see your point in their case I it feels more like a hierarchy, but with NMIXX if almost feels like the avengers with all these individual powerhouses coming together and i love that that feels very unique to them

The sax guy had worked before with lily on her Finesse cover, and the band attended their recent fan concert like several days ago. it seems like all of them both the girls and the band are just vibing here lol.
