Dougal TheTransit gets Power Steering, EPS, I made my own Electric Power Steering Conversion kit and I did all this for less than £100 from a Toyota Prius Power Steering System.
Electric Power Assisted Steering Upgrade = No Pump, No Fluid, No Lines, No Leak, No Belts and No Power Loss. Electric power steering (EPS) or motor driven power steering (MDPS) have an advantage in fuel efficiency because there is no belt-driven hydraulic pump constantly running.
Electric power steering (EPS) is a system that uses an electric motor to assist with steering the wheels of a vehicle. This type of steering system is becoming increasingly common in modern cars and trucks, as it offers several advantages over traditional hydraulic power steering systems.
One of the main benefits of EPS is improved fuel efficiency. Because the electric motor only requires power when the vehicle is actually being steered, EPS systems use less fuel than hydraulic systems, which constantly consume power even when the vehicle is not being steered.
Another advantage of EPS is that it is generally more reliable and easier to maintain than hydraulic systems. Since there are fewer moving parts, EPS systems are less likely to develop leaks or other mechanical issues. In addition, EPS systems are typically easier to diagnose and repair, which can save time and money for vehicle owners.
Overall, EPS is a technology that is helping to make vehicles more efficient, reliable, and easy to maintain
In this video I will show you how I converted the normal steering to electric power steering system in my Ford Transit Mk2 CI Travelhome, using a Toyota Prius EPS (electric power steering) system.
The same system idea could be fitted into a classic car, hot rod, tractor, van or an off-road vehicle like a old Land Rover, or anything else that would need it..
With all that said, let's get on with this video and see if it will work.

After turning a corner does the steering wheel self center again ? thanks !!!!
My wife drives the Camper, she says she hadn't really noticed if it self centered as she was more happy that the steering was a lot easier to use. Next time we go out in it, I'll get her to take notice if it does that :)
Self centering is built into the steering sistem from before via whell alignment and following and all that jazz. Electric steering is nor helping nor harming it if there's no input from the driver.
Celf-centering done by the control system, but it's quite rare AFAIK, Citroen's DIRAVI comes to mind first.

Yes it is positive it's the 12v power from the ignition switch.
Do you have a wiring diagram for the EPS system that you are fitting?

Why would one use the electric pump? Is this the hydraulic pump? The whole steering rack would then need to be swapped. Is this the idea?
@@justjoe7313 an electric pump only replaces the power steering pump the rack and pinion doesnt need to be replaced
