    Did you drill out the original rag joint mount to fit some of the U-joint you cut down to fit it inside the rag joint mount a little?

    • @FabbinAdventures
      @FabbinAdventures  3 года назад +3

      Nope, i welded it straight on, made sure it was straight and running true first.

      Fabbin Adventures mine is all in place and I can hear the ECM click on when I connect power but the electric motor has no power? Any ideas why that would happen?

    • @FabbinAdventures
      @FabbinAdventures  3 года назад

      Not sure, is it the same one i have? It takes 10 seconds after the click to engage. Are you sure your using the right wires? Beyond that, im not sure what might be wrong.

      Fabbin Adventures I double checked every wire and confirmed the ECU and electric motor are getting power. Did your Prius shaft spin freely when it was not installed? Mine does not. I’m wondering if it is seized up at the motor.

    Thanks for the video. I watched your video several times. Ended up following yours as a guide. I purchased a Nissan Versa unit. I bought it because I have a 1.6 8v with samurai air conditioning. The Versa motor is on the opposite side and it clears the AC compressor. Part of the shaft universals fit both drive motor and steering box so no welding on rag joint piece was required there. I copied the way you fit sliding shaft and upper Samurai universal. My bracket is welded on top and outside of frame. Wiring it tomorrow. It appears with the Versa I have to ignition power 2 terminals. Thanks again.

      @@FabbinAdventures yeah, ,I put my unit in the wheel well , the ps motor is basically waterproof, I went with 2 inch backspace wheels to gain the space for it.just tilted motor to left, shaft in same place.the extra space is also conducive to my future plans, I'm supercharging my 1.3 here shortly,not looking to build a powerhouse but a little extra is good, I mangled my stock rear leaf springs with a stock,mostly,1.3.guess that 6.5 to 1 t case gearset really beefs up the torque.im fixing all that as we speak.

    Iv been intrested in this set up for awhile. I got a 1990 samurai on toyota axles with high steer, running 33x12x15 with 3.75" offset wheel. Its a beast to turn. My main concern is if this setup will prevent or reduce the steering wheel from being jerked out of my hands when hitting a rock or rut when out wheeling. I have a new old man emu steering stabilizer and it didn't really help it much. It really starts hurting my hands during a long day of trail riding and the steering wheel ripping out of my hands really suxs. Once you get a chance to test drive it can you let us know how well it helps prevent the steering wheel from ripping fingers off?

    hey! I loved your video and found it to really demystify this whole swap. question for you. would you happen to be able to measure the length of that Prius shaft that you welded to the ujoint closest to the steering wheel? the female splined shaft. long story short I did this swap and chopped the shaft up and welded it to the samurai end and hate how it turned out and want to start over with a different shaft.
