I didn’t even know he did interviews! Until I searched for OPN and Fantano. Derp. So glad he’s exactly the person who SHOULD do interviews as he really engages with material.

as an OPN die-hard fan it is really appreciated to have a new in-depth recorded interview as in terms of footage they're very rare actually, latest one dates back from 2011 (Replica) RBMA lecture in Madrid. Crazy to think what he creatively achieved by shaping this wild 12-year body of work.

It’s so fucking cool to hear Daniel speak in such candid articulate detail; While he is extremely masterful in the facets of his work, for me, the clear message from this interview, is that his artistic superpower that transcends skill and novelty is his taste - his version of “how things should be” and that comes from his journey into unrelenting genuine confidence and vulnerability allowing him to tap into his experiences and trust his taste that it is informed by those experiences as much as he can. It’s a powerful message. Really glad I listened through!

The music and sounds this guy makes, especially in his old records, just speaks to me in a way that nothing else does. It was such a unique jorney through these so vivid and lush soundscapes, invoking memories of things that never happened and leading me through spaces that never existed. Truly an almost transcedental experience, thank you Daniel, you fucking rock

Very refreshing to hear Daniel push back on this constant bullshit that you HAVE to push the envelopenwith every single release. This idea has recently become popular in the last decade and its the most pretentious horseshit any music critic can lobby at an artist.
Thanks for pushing back on this bullcrap OPN. People seem to forget that music as an art is an extension of its creator and is not made to meet the desires of music critica or some false concept that you have to break bew ground with experimentation every single time.
loved the way he argued his creative choice to include "Babylon" as an opener of "Age of", he builds up the sonic journeys he feels he has to in order to express a particular envisioned imaginary, then listeners join the ride or explore the maze by their own. Shouldn't be that hard to respect the former architect of the whole thing!
