I think a person might reveal themself in the room where this audio is being reproduced. If you're materialistic the room will probably be full of 'things'. Rather 'contra' to spiritual sound. And especially when considering that these originals were performed in stone temples. You ought to have a room where there aren't many 'things' (idols -- idolatry) and allow the sound to grow in the reverb. Like reaching out to the people of plagues, bawdry, hungers, uncertainties.
The music has nothing to do with religion. The music would be equally as magnificent if the text was the periodic table of the elements. In fact, for many it may be more impactful.
Evil, it was commissioned by the only entity that had money, the roman church and paid for by them. The texts reflect the theology of the commissioning party but the music, as I said, has nothing to do with the texts, except as you associate the two. In fact, music, strictly speaking has nothing to do with anything. As one composer put it. Music is black dots on white paper. If you think it is more than that it is because of the emotional baggage you, the listener, bring to the piece.
+LSC-Tomball Library Monteverdi was married and had children. Something frowned upon by the "church". But even if he was a priest in the traditional sense, and even if he devoutly believed in the catholic view, none of that would make the catholic, or any other religious viewpoint, laudable.
+Fredrick Zinos This sort of disgusting atheistic rhetoric need not be when people are trying to listen to such beautiful music, that exalts God and the truths of Christ with all its heart. Truly, Monteverdi would have frowned upon how your language pollutes and adulterates the sacred love that his music is imbued with.
In 1641, late in his career and life, Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643) published Selva Morale e Spirituale, a collection of sacred works composed while serving for decades as mastro di cappella at St. Marks Basilica in Venice. It was the largest collection of sacred music he had published since 1610, prior to his arrival in Venice. 11:11 [Cantica sacra]
Late Renaissance composer Claudio Monteverdi is known by scholars as the father of opera. He also did much to bring a “modern” secular spirit into church music.
Wonderfull!!! The essence of Europe and Christianity!
Nessuno come lui ....udito vespri?..l'aria' amica mea suavis....mi ha fatto piangere un giorno.

Being catholic has its perks. Yesterday I heard Mass for 4 voices by W. Byrd at Mass.
Che meraviglia il nostro monteverdi, un intreccio polifonico a due pio sublime .
I will never eat at the Olive Garden again after having to watch their advertisement over and over today on RUclips.

This was simply amazing. Thank you for this upload. BRIAN
remember to agnostics and atheists that are attracted by this beauty: if the composer doesn't believe as Catholic, this Kind of music will not appear
Belief is important. Denomination? Dunno. JS Bach did not believe as a Catholic, did he? But he still managed to write a pretty good mass
This is the right answer.
Stunning!

+Fredrick Zinos A lot of the music composed in this century has been made for the religion ;)

+Fredrick Zinos (Claudio Monteverdi was a Catholic priest! I think the music for the Mass was a deliberate choice in both music and lyrics.)
+LSC-Tomball Library Monteverdi was married and had children. Something frowned upon by the "church". But even if he was a priest in the traditional sense, and even if he devoutly believed in the catholic view, none of that would make the catholic, or any other religious viewpoint, laudable.

Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643) Bridged the Renaissance and Baroque periods, and made important contributions in each style.
