I gave IQWire a shot... solved all the problems I had with TetherTools! So far 5 months running with zero problems!

@@YankovWong I for one felt TetherTools is already unnecessarily expensive but ever since I had the EOS R5 and specifically the R3, connection keeps dropping intermittently till I had to stop using R3 for a period. I even sent it to Canon. While TetherTools was kind enough to send replacements, it didn’t solve the problem at all…. until someone told me about IQwire - not a single problem since! Not sure where’s the magic.

they're terrible... had two both stopped working within a year.. bought a tether tools usb-c right angle and so far great@@YankovWong

Can I use this cable for tethering phone internet to my laptop and have 5g speeds?
Great info. Thank you. Do you know what is the speed rating for this cable? Is it able to do USB 3.1 Gen 2 speed (10 gbps)? Also, does this work like a normal cable sending data both ways: can you control camera settings from the computer with this cable the way you can with a non-optical cable? Finally, when using this cable do you need to follow specific connection sequence or you can just plug it like a standard tethering cable? Cheers!

@@gkcarrot I use a 10 gbps fiber optic cable with my Sony A7R5. I haven’t tested if transfers are faster with this cable than with a 5gbs. But I can say that transfers are a lot faster than with my A7R4. OF NOTE, and I’m not sure why, my 10gbs optic cable does NOT work at all with my A7R4. So, it doesn’t seem to be backwards compatible. When I bought my cable I used Amzon and search terms to find the right cable. The best price at the time with decent reviews was this one - hope this helps :

Power delivery has been great. I have never had to charge an a7r5 battery on a charger… ever.
