My brother has been in the ICU and now rehab for 7 months now. Had sepsis from a toe amputation; They had to remove his leg below the knee to save his life.Still working on getting stronger, getting fit for a new leg and hopefully going home again. He was in a medical coma for well over a month in the ICU. @@Marilyn-r8n oh Marilyn, this is so very sad and happy at the same time When my husband was in coma i was so happy that he was breathing, i was satisfied when his breathing was regular and the doctors couldn't understand that i was happy with that. At every stage of his recovery i was so happy that he was alive, I didn't ask for more, I didn't want it get worse. It was an unreal time but doing my husband's physiotherapy every day, several times a day, brought me even closer to him and gave me so much hope, as I was touching him and I was so grateful for being able to do that. I really miss how they did it in the old movies, where family members or sometimes even complete strangers would pray by the bedside for someone that was either horribly hurt, or in a comma. If a patient can hear, then his children could encourage recovery too. I get all aspects: and who knows what any of us would do, or how we would react ?
This movie touched me deeply to the point where I went directly to my spouse to let him know that if he were ever in a coma, I would take him home to a familiar environment and care for him for I believe in the power of the universe….
In the real life we have to do the physiotherapy as soon as only possible. It's extremely important to exercise the feet, rotating the ankles and move the toes. Moving arms and fingers to stimulate the body and make the brain think that the person is using these limb. All sensory toys are excellent aid in the process of coming out of coma. But sadly on many brain injury wards the stuff isn't aware of this at all. 😢
In real life, any kind of therapy doesn't start with the "staff". It starts with the DOCTOR, ordering the therapy. At least here in the US... However, you're absolutely right that these exercises must be done, in order to bring back mobility.
@ I had started my husband's physiotherapy and doctors were watching me. Later they said that he had made a recovery because of me. When we were taking my husband home, they all thanked me for the teamwork. They had no idea that the physiotherapy could be used so early on, during a coma stage. I'm in the UK. 😊
This is the first time I've ever watched a movie about someone being in a comma, and not once did anyone ever say a prayer for Jay, especially the wife, Lainey Berman. I kept waiting for her to pray, and she never did. Not even when he came out of the comma, as she was crying for happiness, she didn't even Thank God. This really affected me. Whether there is stimulation or not, and all kinds of attention day and night around the clock, it is UP TO GOD our creater, whether or not someone comes outta a comma or not... period. There is no grey area on this.
You know what? In thinking back, I feel the same way. Whenever there is a crisis, a good movie always shows someone praying. After all, we ARE a nation “under God”. ❤️🇺🇸💙 ✨🙏✨
Get off of your religious belief in god for he had nothing to do with the recovery of her husband. If your god is so wonderful and loving he never would have placed this wonderful family in such despair and grief.

When will producers grow up and produce only films with neither good guys nor bad guys-- only people?
No wife would ever do this for her husband. That's why it makes for a great fiction movie.
Kind of a soap opera, but with better actors. Luv Rebecca De Mornay. The Hand That Rocked The Cradle. The other actors looked familiar to me
