good point on the spinning reel size . i see a lot of people that fish with large reels and small rods and it`s just too heavy to use when casting a lot and hiking with them
try to go on days that are around freezing or slightly above freezing - your line will cooperate much better and your rod guides won't freeze up on you as much :)
