I like how they show a bag half full of dirt on a competing "messy bagged" unit, but the Beam they are emptying is spotless. And a circuit board based control module was in no way a reliability upgrade...just a cost saving measure.
Regarding PCB use, I have to agree with your comment. PCBs fail more often than people realize. I have dealt with PCBs enough to know this, especially computer systems and heard from some appliance repair techs that some fairly major appliances are prohibitive to fix for some reason because when the microcontroller board fails, and more often than the old mechanical timers and thermostats, it's cost-prohibitive to replace the board versus just buying a whole new appliance. It used to be that people easily got 20+ years from appliances and the ones now you would be lucky if you got 5-10.

7 years later they came out with the Beam Serenity Central Vacuums. Beam Serenity Central Vacuums nowadays can be converted to bagged, not just for better filtration, but for better operational life. Beam has come up with Bagged Filtration Conversion Kits for their Beam Serenity Central Vacuums from 2011 to now. So I am just wondering if you could upload the early 2000's Beam informercial, the early 2000's Beam Installation Video and the early 2000's Beam Dealer Video featuring the Beam Serenity Series?
Didn't realize Beam Rugmaster Plus was that old. My mom thought she bought hers 15 years ago, but maybe like 20+? Edit: Found the box in her basement dated 1998. So 25 years old. Crushproof hose in that kit still works great. Replaced the handle recently. 😄
I think the Beam Rug Master is similar to the Eureka Express power nozzle, I have the Eureka Express version, it's ok, the biggest disadvantage of it is that it uses a flat belt so it will need to be replaced frequently. There is also no way to adjust the height.
@@mikearrigo5674 Yes. new power heads like the EBK360 or the sebo ET-1 are much nicer. My mom recently got a sebo et-1 kit to replace rugmaster, but still uses 25 year old beam hose with accessories.
@@sparks869 I would say the Sebo ET1 or ET2, Wessel-Werk EBK360 and Lindhaus PB14 are the best power nozzles available, you really wouldn't go wrong with any of those.
More proof of the power of creative marketing. I don't know how it is everywhere else ---- But in Canada beam absolutely crushed everyone in the 80's/90's in terms of sales. It's now a different story after the great beam alliance electrolux suicide disaster. Just imagine how much $$$ was left on the table with selling a filtered unit for 60 years and the never ending horror of vacuum installers having to inhale/clean dirty self cleaning filters on a worldwide scale. In beams favor they certainly did popularize central vacuums in our country ---- I remember a former sales manager telling me they had 10 installation crews back in the 80's in Toronto.
You do have some great central vacuum brands in Canada, Drainvac is really good, so is Duovac, Canavac and Cyclovac. Another really good brand is Galaxie and I think those are also made by Cyclovac.
But do those Beam power nozzles have jam detection sensors? You know if you pick up something and you jam it, the nozzle's supposed to shut down to protect the belts?

Of course, what they don't tell you is how messy it is to empty a bagless unit, when you remove the bucket and empty it, the dust goes everywhere, including all over the person emptying it. What they also don't tell you is that these filters really don't clean themselves, and as soon as the filter becomes caked with dust, the airflow will be restricted. I have just about every brand of central vacuum unit in my collection, but Beam and Nutone are two brands that I have no interest in. The only units I will ever use are those that can use a bag.

So far I haven't seen any changes made when Nuera Air bought out Beam other than moving production to Canada and removing the Electrolux brand. But either way, I'd never use one in my own home. I can never deal with the messy "self cleaning" filter that barely works.

The new Gore filter material is much better than the old Dacron shit, they actually seem to shed debris now 😂
Enlighten me more on how they're better made nowadays. Did they thickened the metal? Did they put more coats of paint on? Did they put in different electrical components? The Beams today appear to be exactly the same as the Electrolux units. The gore filters came out before Nuera Air bought out Beam from Electrolux. I never had problems with the dacron filters.

And my old house had a beam exhausted indoors, and that room was so dusty it broke dad’s new shopvac at the time
The WORST central vacuum design in the entire history of central vacuums. "Self cleaning" drop filter my ass!!!! The only decent thing about the brand and design is the clear dust bin......unless you drop it on the concrete garage floor. Beam......pfffft Beam smeam!
