Alum is non-toxic and it's very easy to grow crystals with it. It's one of my favorite crystals to grow! You can find it in grocery stores for pickling, shaving and deodorant.
By far the hardest part is attaching the seed crystal to the fishing line. I don’t have the fine motor control in my hands to achieve this. Quite frustrating.
I love this but at the same time I have a question. How do you stop the crystal from magically liquifying from air moisture? I keep trying to grow crystals but every time they somehow dissolve into a puddle no matter how much I dry them.
How big are your crystals, and how's the humidity like at your place? I live in the tropics, and I've never had any problems with alum dissolving with moisture. If you really need to prevent this, you can keep it in an airtight container with some silica gel.
@@the_crystalverse I actually live in Sri Lanka which in right by the equator, humidity fluctuates alot. The crystals aren't even that big really, about 2-3mm big at max. I tried it mainly with copper salts like Sulfate or Chloride. I've always wanted to try alum but was afraid this would happen again.
Alum should be fine, it is much less soluble in water. Also, keep the crystal in solution and grow it until 1cm+. Bigger crystals are more resistant to moisture.
Yea, but the object has to be very small, like half the size of a penny. Place the object beside the seed crystal, and wait for it to grow until it's stuck to the crystal. Then hang and grow as usual, and over time the crystal will completely cover the object
Hey everyone. Welcome to my first YT video, hope you like it!
Let me know if you have any questions, and happy growing :)
Really cool and relaxing video congratulations
Thanks for creating your RUclips channel! We greatly appreciate the tutorials and time you’ve taken to show us this!

I feel your pain haha. Or just put the fishing line next to the crystal and let it "grow" into the line.
@@the_crystalverse Oh.
Goodluck bro... Had visited your website for tips in crystal making hope your hard work pays off.
Thanks mate, you too
im liking the kiwami japan style filming
That guy is a legend

Great video! I was wondering, does the water have to be distilled, or will regular tap water work?
Thanks! I used tap water, so it should be fine
it’s possible to grow a crystal around a small item with this method?

@@the_crystalverse can it be plastic? is there any material that it would react to and we should avoid using?
@@phoeniiix3713 Plastic works. It shouldn't be metal, as the solution will react with it
