I’d like to see the Spurs draft Matas Buzelis

If it all comes together, yes. Might take a few years to watch it play out. The draft game is for very patient people.

In a wide-open year, on the limited video, I can see this kid being a star. Although it’s getting less likely the Thunder might get two lotteries, and without a clear star this is where Sam can show his magic. As we say, in Sam we trust.

A 22 minute long video and you didn’t even start talking about the prospect until the 17 minute mark. I know I won’t be returning for the next video for sure.

The case for Buzelis going #1 is the Pistons getting the pick, because Arn Tellem's nepo baby son is his agent, and the Pistons are the stupidest and most dysfunctional franchise anywhere in sports.

Alright y'all - I've been crunching numbers using advanced stats(per 36 production, usage, and true shooting)... To be fair, I went back and used tankathon stats only. The top 7 falls in this order:
      1. Tyler Smith (99.0)
      2. Alex Sarr (94.6)
      3. Nikola Topic (93.8)
      4. Zaccharie Risacher (93.2)
      5. Ron Holland (92.9)
      6. Cody Williams (90.9)
      7. Matas Buzelis (86.2)
Yes... in totality, the statistics do show that Ignite reserve Tyler Smith is simply producing more than many other prospects - The stats suggests that he should probably go Top 3 but why has this not translated to his actual draft stock(given that he projected late lottery)?? I like Buzelis as much as the next but advanced stats suggest there may be at least 5 definitive better players right now.

@@gzelambeezy Good stuff! Send me the details.

@LockedOnNBABigBoard I basically created a score using per 36 production and true shooting %. the math i used:
      [Per 36 Production(FTA + REB + AST + PTS + 3PM + STOCKS - TOV)... T. Smith per 36 production total = 37.9]
      +
      [TS%... T. Smith's ts% is 61.1]
      _____________
      [37.9 + 61.1 = 99.0 for T. Smith]
I conveniently(intentionally?) left out fouls per 36, and the more team oriented stats like offensive rating and defensive rating. I also used a weighted usage originally but that seemed to skew the data out of proportion(as you mentioned in the clip, Buzelis seems to disappear during games and weighted usage gave him a huge scoring benefit). My goal was to get an accurate picture of each players overall production.

@LockedOnNBABigBoard ok I went back to the lab(nerd mode) and tried to break the system with anomalies.... created a combined score that includes raw per 36 production and weighted usage per 36 production(using Furphy's usage as a baseline)). I also subtracted draft age from each for good measure. The more extensive list is as follows:
      1. Reed Sheppard (182.55)
      2. T. Smith (166.93)
      3. furphy (166.90)
      4. Sarr (161.58)
      5. Risacher (160.53)
      6. Rob Dillingham (160.18)
      7. Knecht (159.97)
      8. Oso (159.21)
      9. Topic (158.62)
      10. Cody Williams (158.06)
      11. Holland (152.53)
      12. klintman (149.75)
      13. Buzelis (147.40)
      14. Ja'Kobe Walter (142.84)
As you can see, Reed Sheppard clearly broke my scale and Furphy is apparently a monster - who knew?? Not sure how much they translate to the NBA but no more slander from me lol... with that said, those 2 in particular came in on the bottom end of usage but obviously play with incredible efficiency. Knecht also came in really hot on the raw production side but balanced out due to age and usage. It's impressive that T. Smith still ranks near the top here and notice where Buzelis came in....
